- A pituitary tumor forms in the pituitary gland near the brain that can cause changes in hormone levels in the body. Symptoms such as headaches, vision problems, weight gain, easy bleeding or bruising, change in bone structure, especially in the face and hands, menstrual irregularities, lactation, erectile dysfunction, etc. Diagnosis can be done with the help of blood tests and MRI. Treatments include surgery and medication to block excess hormone production or shrink the tumor and in some cases, radiation may also be used.
