- Pituitary Gland Tumour Symptoms as explained by Dr Jaydev Panchwagh, neurosurgeon Pune includes why the pituitary tumour symptoms occur and how they can be detected.
Pituitary tumour is a kind of brain tumour. Pituitary tumour symptoms are not like other brain tumour symptoms. Pituitary gland insufficiency may be caused by pituitary macroadenomas. Pituitary microadenomas usually are asymptomatic or cause hormonal disorders.
A brain tumour specialist usually treats pituitary gland tumours along with an endocrinologist who is a hormone specialist.
Pituitary tumors may be hormone secreting or non secreting. They may or may not cause visual field defects. Some of the pituitary gland disorders are hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, acromegaly, Cushing's syndrome, milk secretion from nipple in males or non pregnant females, menstrual disturbances, diabetes etc
