sure shot! Sure Shot! SURE SHOT!!!!
You talk too much. Pause too much. Not good
Notice one thing about the DJ in this He.
Heâs literally making the beat with his hands. Thereâs no other record playing the beat in the background. Itâs just him cutting and scratching that one record, live and in perfect rhythm!
Mix - M A S T E R - Mike ftw!
Beat chopping. One of many tools in a turntablist skill set. They often get vinyl pressed with just the sound samples they want to use, for example a kick, snare, crash and so on
Buddy watch the Movie âScratchâ, enjoy !
with one record and a 4 second break beat. MMM was the first to use pedals on the tables. The dude bleeds hiphop, not rap, HIPHOP
@@xRand0mHero Somebody sent me this the other day, thought you would appreciate it. :-) czcams.com/video/LtIQf99I-kk/video.html
MC superpowers donât activate until the DJ drops the beats.
King comment here
Mix Master Mike, world DMC champion, 3 times I believe, member of the Invisibl Skratch Piklz, was asked by DMC to stop competing so others would have a chance to win, and became a judge himself.
Live, one take, one DJ with one record making all the beats. đ„
The baddest 3 MCs and one DJ of all time.. nobody will ever top what they did.
Get it Together feat Q Tip!!!
See whatâs happenin
Cuz I have to talk about the times when I rhythm and the MCâs come in my face Iâm like mace
I eat the f'in pineapple now n laters
'You wanna get next to me, like Rolls Royce' - he is referencing old RnB cut - 'Rolls Royce - I wanna Get Next To You'
I thought it was a reference to the old Grey Poupon commercial... Pull up to the Rolls, get some fancy mustard (his lyrics)... Gonna have to dig that song up... Cheers for this!
Rose Royce
@@balohna - yep, my bad... Rose Royce - I Wanna Get Next To You. Classic slow jam!!
it's not that they run hot and cold it's that they constantly experiment and switch up their style with the way they go in and out of each others rhymes being the only constant
This is just pure Hip Hop at its finest. Love this track.
The "rolls royce" line was actually a reference to a song by "Rose Royce" called I Wanna Get Next To You (for a while I thought it was Rolls Royce)
I love reading comments. I learn so much! Thanks
Hu
Yup. Took me a few listens before I caught it. I believe the captions were on for some reason and I saw it said "Rose Royce" and I was like...huh? Then like 3 seconds later I remembered Rose Royce and my mind was blown lol
As a middle aged dad/B Boys fan I'm def digging the recent explosion of Beastie Boys reacts from the younger generation. The love being given is awesome.
3 MCs & I DJ is something special. Yet no one talks about MMM actually scratching the drum beat, and not just playing it back. Not sure if it not noticed or understood just how next level it is.
He had a finger/fader movement for every "kick kick snare, kick ki- kick snare".
In rhythm
In time
For three & half minutes straight. Back in '98 there were maybe 15 guys in the world who could do that.
Fucking legends
The whole beat was made live by Mix Master Mike scratching that one record. What you hear is what you see. Nothing prerecorded or programmed. This man is playing the drums on a record player.
Yes the Beastie Boys is basically a group of 3 but you must understand that groups back then always had a DJ. It's sad that hip hop has gotten so far from its elements and routes that anyone would have to ask about them having a DJ. This song and video was basically paying homage their DJ. Simply meaning that the party doesn't start until the DJ arrives.
rap turntablism breakdancing graffiti
to me, that's hiphop
@@dawatcherz that's Hip-Hop PERIOD...
I'm not sure why this song is trending on the reaction pages but I love it! Maybe I'm old but I don't know how people don't know this track. RIP MCA
Weren't you youngsters taught that's how hip hop started? An MC & a dj
That whole video was recorded in real time. That was the point. They can freestyle and flow!
Most people after watching this video: I have seen everything that I had to see in this world. My life is now complete.
They are BRILLIANT!!! I grew up with the Beastie Boys proudly. They are lyrical and musical geniuses
ROOT DOWN.
LOOKING DOWN THE BARREL OF A GUN
HEY LADIES.
JIMMY JAMES.
This track is basically Hip Hop in it's purest form đ We all knew you would like it. Mix Master Mike is actually a world champion DJ. Next you could react to "Pass The Mic" (1992) "Sure Shot" (1994) , "Root Down" (1994) "Putting Shame In Your Game" (1998) "Too Many Rappers" featuring Nas (2011) "Right Right Now Now" (2004) "Alive" original version (1999) and "Looking Down The Barrel Of a Gun" (1989) If you wanna explore more of their "fusion" tracks where they play their instuments for some funky rock with great lyrics, try their classic "Gratitude" (1992) BTW all those songs have great lyrics, remember that you can turn on the closed captions in most of their official music videos to see the words. đ
Glad you liked this one! I second Paul Revere should be next.
Well the best song to follow up that one is Beastie Boys- âShake your Rump!â Itâs a masterpiece of Hip Hop, Rap, Punk Rock, and DJ artistry in full amazing harmonics!!! đ„ A must watch!
âSure Shotâ and âRoot Downâ are classics too
Single record drum scratching. Unmatched
Many a hip hop album used to have at least one cut like this dedicated to their DJ where they were able to showcase their cutting and scratching skills. By the time this tune dropped the DJ had fallen largely out of favour in hip hop so this was recorded as a throwback to the time when the DJ was more important to hip hop than the rappers. Incidentally, the DJ is Mix Master Mike who is a legend of the art of turntablism and was asked to join the Beasties as tour DJ in the late 90s.
I believe they did this live on MTV (back when they actually played music) all in one take.
I'm completely blown away, that it seems as though you've never seen a DJ scratching?
MixMaster Mike ! Good Stuff !
Where to next ? Well, since the album Paul's Boutique is such a classic . . . .
-Car Thief
-Pass The Mic
-Lookin Down the Barrel
-Egg Man
-Finger Lickin Good
-Skills To Pay The Bills
Too Many Rappers-featuring Nas-
Beastie Boys always keeping it real, keeping it fresh, and having fun !
Enjoying ball the well deserved attention recently on CZcams.

Another banger reaction my dude as the lyrics say this song is still as fresh as a box of the Krispy Kreme follow up with Paul revere
Beastie Boys showing high praise to the DJ.
There is a band called Rose Royce, and their song is Can I get Next To You....its an homage to their musical roots
Dave chappelle Beastie boys ânew styleâ for more mixmaster mike niceness
Mixmaster Mix has ALWAYS been one of the Beastie Boys, but rarely gets solo screen time. He's the one that gives the group their signature rock-rap fusion sound. That man cut & scratched circles around other DJs to be point he sold out at least three or four solo albums. His most famous is titled 'Spin Psycle'.
I suggest you look into the song 'RIGHT RIGHT NOW NOW'. Not only is it a great song, but the video was recorded in the middle of NYC, so you see real-time reactions of the city surrounding the Beastie Boys. It once again gave Mixmaster Mike plenty of time to shine. Given that it was one of their last albums before MCA died, it also gives you idea the direction the BB intended to go in.
The 1 DJ is the reason for the song and hence, the reason for the video =)
This is the JAM
The record was scratched and bars were dropped.
some serious props to the great dj's out there... mc's cant work without 'em
"Paul Revere"
You will not be disappointed.
16 years old when they came out 1986.
Adidas track suit
Shell toe Adidas fat laces
Kangol hat
All matching bad to the bone.
Had 4 Kangol all different colors to match my Adidas suits.
Break dancing was king
This video was shot live in one take. DJ Mike and the beastie boys were the real deal.
You do understand these guys were huge. Rock and Roll Hall of Fame group. Deep rabbit hole to go down. You'll love "No Sleep til Brooklyn:.
Mixmaster Mike is incredible. The Beasties always had great DJ's.
Nah. That is a refetence to the song I Wanna Get Next to You" by the group Rose Royce. It is from the soundtrack of Car Wash.
I like how you showed how you were looking through the comments.
Omg we get it! People wanted you to do this song.
AdRock, MCA, and MikeD. Kept hip hop down to its roots when the others were being turned into something else by production companies.
"The DJ's nice with it..." - what the legend DJ Mixmaster Mike?
Beastie boys will get up in your brain bucket and pull 360 feel me
Gotta listen to "Sure Shot"..."Body Mov'in"....."Triple Trouble"......"Professor Booty"....."Fight for your right revisited"...."Pass the Mic"
Nice reaction vid dude!
As someone from Atlanta I live for that Krispy Kreme neon signaling us.
But, RIP MCA always and forever.
Happy you are enjoying this Beastie Boys journey.
Oh, and from here you go directly to Paul's Boutique!
He's in the dungeons straight Hood life there. Queens
Mix Master Mike is a BAD MAN.
Get it together feat qtip...10/10, best regards from Poland
Great reaction man.
Rose Royce was a musical act from the 70's. That's what they were referring to.
A Group Called Rolls Royce Has a song Called I wanna Get Next to You.
7 minutes later.....the reaction starts.
thanks for the time stamp
'Wanna get next to you like a Rolls Royce' is a Grey Poupon bar
They just sitting in that basement waiting for the beat to activate them.
3 MC's and 1 DJ...and the sound engineer sitting by the wall behind all the equipment, lol.
Great reaction bro
This is hip hop at itÂŽs best.
That was the actual studio where they recorded Hello Nasty.
Back when it all was ...awesome
'Is that going to be the dj?" Literally the dj who they just made a judge so he'd stop competing in the comps
Seemingly indeed!
âToo many rappers â!!! With Nas
He's spitting on wax.4an 3 an one, when I'm on the mic the suckers run.
The Rose Royce reference is a song as in "I Want to Get Next to You" by Rose Royce.
React to Get it Together (feat Q-Tip)
whats fire is where their studio is, badass.......legends
Thanks for watching!! Please subscribe if you have not already It Helps More than you can Understand
Well real hip hop groups, old school hip hop groups, pretty much all had a DJ. that's where you got the cutting and scratching from.
They were on Russell Simmons Label...they opened the door for rappers to perform some places...mainstream
They are geniuses.
Come on family they are the Beatles of the MC Mic....
Three MCS one DJ! YA
We told you... You WERE NOT ready :).
ahahahahahh. i legitly am now wondering about songs like sure shot, that yall speak highly of. and the one qith NAS also. as ibam a hig NAS fan
@@RedTopReactions So I'll bet you'll enjoy "Too many rappers" with Nas indeed... Sure Shot is great, I love it, in this one, MCA provides is famous lines towards respect due to "Ladies". Best man, enjoy your trip :).
Great song
Question???...Why arenât reaction channels doing Beastie Boys âPass the Micâ?!?!?!?
idk. ibhave literally let u guys steer me along. after sabatoge. and currently trending seems to be sure shot, and root down. i do see pass the mic pop up also. i recoed bew reactions tonight. ao never know what qill happen
@@RedTopReactions No joke, you can literally do their first 5 albums back to front. That's all the direction you should need.
@@SuperDaveSo Yes: Next ? Just another BB's track.. Any will do ! :) I vote for Sabrosa and Heart attack man.
@@garryiglesias4074 He wont like Heart Attack Man. If he didn't like Sabotage, he definitely wouldn't like that.
@@garryiglesias4074 Disagree on Heart Attack Man. I love Beastie Boys but that one is low on my list. IMHO
Buncha white boys from Brooklyn are so funky they made the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame
This is by far the best! Giving all credit to Mix Master Mike! Without him they would not have made it like they did. This video gives him the credit he deserves! This 3-4 some changed music for the better.

Oh man HE.. I'm slipping on your channel, I just found this Beastie Boys list lol... I usually just watch the Rage playlist(your's is a great one)..
lol. catch up. i have over 2500 videos im sure there are few others you may like slipknot, chemical romance, twenty one pilots, lots of linkin park(these were some of my fave reactions) and a bunch bunch more . u just have to type in my name and a artist to see what comes up
Are we supposed to drink every time he says â3 MCs, 1 DJâ?
It's not ROLLS ROYCE. It's a reference to the 70s Soul Band Rose Royce and their hit I Wanna Get Next To You. Look it up, it's fire.
