Woo Ha! is actually from Sugar Hill Gang 8th wonder sample...
czcams.com/video/_rwpBYQn3S8/video.htmlm50s
Every sample in the song is from a legendary song
Dang diggy dang da dang da dang diggy diggy!!
It sounds like a sample from a movie with Al Pacino. Scent of a woman. It was the "Whoo Wah!" he did in the movie. It was an US Army thing.
They raised the bar with production and sampling. This song is built from like 15 songs.
"Like Sam the butcher bringin Alice the meat" , freakin CLASSIC man LOL!
Younger people don't get this line. It's hilarious
Like Fred Flintstone driving around with bald feet?
Both feet
Beastie Boys album Paul's Boutique is non stop tracks like this, it's incredible. React to Hey Ladies
Beastie Boys were ahead of the times for sure. Influenced many popular rappers of the 90s and even now.
Pretty much everything from their Paul's Boutique album is amazing. A few notable choices would be "High Plains Drifter," "Hey Ladies," "Looking Down the Barrel of a Gun" and my personal favorite, "Shadrach," where the Boys sampled the funky-ass classic, "Loose Booty" by Sly & The Family Stone.
When MCA passed away in 2012 Busta Rhymes tweeted RIP and said that the Beasties were one of his biggest influences
The part where Ad Rock lip syncs the scratching makes me laugh EVERY time.
Too Many Rapper Not Enough MC’s feat. Nas is a good one to checkout!
Coolest guys, masters of flow and the BEST concert performance I've ever seen live. The energy was insane from the moment they hit the stage.
I've been listening to the Beasties since the late 80's and anytime I've seen this video, I never understood the fruit at the end... until now! Thank you for teaching me something new ;)
The fruit was a joke, as if a crowd of fruit was cheering in the song.
I can't wait for the day when COVID is over and a new generation is bumping Beastie Boys at parties and clubs, knowing and loving the songs all thanks to the huge amount of reaction videos during quarantine. Beastie Boys will never "die." RIP MCA!!!
Man, you just made me feel so old "1989, three years before I was born". I remember when Paul's Boutique was released, everyone I knew was listening to it. Good thing my mind still thinks I'm 17 most of the time and this record still makes me dance round my house like a fool.
The scratching is the legendary DJ Hurricane
Beastie Boys were honored by P. Diddy, Q-Tip, and Fabulous at the VH1 Hip Hop Honors! Check that video out!!!
Three cameras with fisheye lenses set at three different levels in a triangle on a rooftop, and the Beastie Boys just flip between which one they're playing to. One take, then edit it all back together.
"Can we talk about the DJ scratching?" - please react to "3 MC's and 1 DJ" by them. Then we can talk about the DJ scratching.
Guy's Beastie Boy are/were pure fun and have tons of bangers and songs that pushed the boundaries of production. I will say most of their radio popular songs are not really their best hip-hop/rap songs.
Sugar Hill Gang said the trademark "WHOO-HAH!"
That funk guitar and that synth bass. This song is epic.
what i like is they play the their own instruments when they play live.
Got more rhymes than Jamaican got Mangoes. Haha seein these guys live doin this jam was off the chain
I got a peg leg at the end of my stumpa...
Shake your rumpa.
They were in the grocery store looking for the freshest beats
Any thing from Paul's Boutique but especially "B-Boy Bouillabaisse" "B-Boy Bouillabaisse" "B-Boy Bouillabaisse" "B-Boy Bouillabaisse" "B-Boy Bouillabaisse" "B-Boy Bouillabaisse" "B-Boy Bouillabaisse" "B-Boy Bouillabaisse" "B-Boy Bouillabaisse" "B-Boy Bouillabaisse" "B-Boy Bouillabaisse" "B-Boy Bouillabaisse" "B-Boy Bouillabaisse" "B-Boy Bouillabaisse" "B-Boy Bouillabaisse" "B-Boy Bouillabaisse" "B-Boy Bouillabaisse" "B-Boy Bouillabaisse" "B-Boy Bouillabaisse" "B-Boy Bouillabaisse" "B-Boy Bouillabaisse"
Yes! They are all about the party rap having a good time! They have a few more serious lyrical songs, but most of them are just about having a great time!
Even their vids SHOWED BARS....dj scratches like a cat ...absolutely fire my guy
Sure Shot
Cuz they fresh as produce!
Beastie started all the cool trend
Two cameras in the 80s one was for video one was for still shots...
When this came out on a DVD, you could toggle between all three camera angles and either watch it from one point of view of sort of chop up your own video....too much fun!!!
So glad you guys got the Freshest reference. Everyone says 'why are they showing fruit so much at the end. FRESH!!
They partly got their title from "Shake Your Rump to the Funk" by the Bar-Kays from 1976.
Been a B Boys fan for longer than y'all been alive! I love that you guys are on them. You got me dancing with you, grinning from ear to ear!! Lotsa 🖤 to you!
Love you guys.
Much love!
Abrupt ending because Paul's Boutique is an album, not just a collection of songs. It all flows together so nicely.
And if you want some modern hip-hop: Dessa - Rome ; Aesop Rock - The Gates
they did it before Busta. Beastie Boys are one of the few white artists that are actually influential in the scene
You two are great, you two look great together both cute and really great together too, and have great energy for sure 8o) keep together and always have so much energy for sure 8o).
Love you both!
The produce section is the best part! nicely stacked peaches and apples ;)
Great stuff I'm subscribing
The B-boys have always been the illest. The 80's was really the golden age of hip-hop. Pauls Boutique is a masterpiece
"The MACKINEST!"
This is the funniest reaction I've watched in a while
That sample is from Al Pacino in "Scent of a Woman". That's his woo-ha!
No, it's from Sugarhill Gang, 8th Wonder. Scent of a Women hadn’t even been made when this song came out.
You should check out " (You Gotta Fight) For Your Right (To Party)"
What a good honest reaction..came here by algorythm but hey...you guys are cool❤
“Too many rappers and not enough MC’s” with Nas!!!
I Cosign
Miming Adrock is the prettiest thing on this planet
Those guys were flawless practitioners on stage.
You two are great together.
FUN!
Beastie Boys - An Open Letter To NYC
Mixmaster Mike OMG killed it
They are fresh like produce.
It was Beasties that did it first. I saw Busta with The Fugees, and Cypress Hill at Red Rocks in Colorado. Beasties are the illest.
Subbed to you guys because you’re cool, hello from British Columbia 😎. Go Beasties
staci stunning as ever!
Most sampled album ever. Could never be done again
This is a classic album. Way ahead of time.
Actually it was the Sugar Hill Gang did the woo ha.
That scratchin is Mix Master Mike. He was dope as fuck.
This was DJ Hurricane, he’s got clout. Mike came later.
Hello to quite possibly my favorite couple, I don't have anything to say just haven't seen you guys in a while keep doing what you're doing please
The fact is Paul’s Boutique was so far ahead of its time…. The commercial music scene wanted a License To Ill part two and they did this with the Dust Brothers. Didn’t sell…. But as an afterthought it has become iconic. Probably one of the best albums in the genre.
“That’s pennies, not Bennies” - LOL
I really appreciate the deep dive into lyrics that you do, their writing is awesome. It's tough to pick individual songs, but these are all great:
So What'cha Want
Sure Shot
Sabotage
Alive
Triple Trouble
Ch-check it out
Get It Together (featuring Q-tip)
Body Movin' (original is best I think, but the official video is a remix)
Pass the Mic
Actually the Beastie Boys got the woo-haa part from the Sugar Hill Gang who did it back in 1980/81.
Wooha got them all in check is a sample from Sugarhill Gang. The album this is on, Paul's Boutique, probably has more samples per second than anything out there
Beastie Boys, Public Enemy, Run DMC, 3rd Bass
That cat could scratch for real.
Seriously! And it actually sounded good. Some DJ’s scratch and it just sounds like noise
Paul's Boutique is in my opinion their best album, produced by the dust brothers.
There beats were so 🔥
One of the greatest hip-hop albums of all time. A marvel of sampling. DJ Funktual has a video from way back, going through every sample on this track, pulling from his vinyl collection. Lotta Car Wash soundtrack on here. 😆 You should check out his breakdown. His energy and love for the music is infectious.
The Woo haa! started with The Sugar Hill Gang. Way back in the day.
When Rap was all about the music...no "flash" needed...except when "Grand Master" is in front of it.
3 separate cams for their "Weave" style of Rap and "dance". Back and forth, move around, non stop, pass the mic Beasties. Get it over with, watch "Awesome I fucking Shot That" and enjoy the rest of your life. Best Concert Video EVER filmed by fans at Madison Square Garden
you might like "sure shot" and perhaps "looking down the barrel of a gun". both were pretty big songs and some of their core work. they have so many others too.
New Subscriber. You guys nice!
Beasties had some badass DJs too - DJ Hurricane on this, Mix Master Mike (re; 3 MCs & 1 DJ), DJ Dr. Dre (from Yo MTV Raps).
lmao "why is the cat on the turntable?" lol
Anything from Paul's Boutique!
React to rhymin and stealin from them with the music video, its from their first tour. They were wild
Actually sugar hill gang did it first, then sampled by beastie boys THEN busts rhymes took it
Like it or not. Beastie boys are part of the modern hip hop foundation. Influenced alot of rappers. Definitely ahead of their time.
On the album version you hear a giant bong hit in the middle of the song.
Fruit is FRESH
If you haven’t already do some research on Beasties the found LL and toured with RunDMC. And from Brooklyn and Manhattan.
Beatties said it WAAY First!
Great song! Check out "Root Down" by them too
They filmed like early underground skateboard videos
Awesome reaction. After 9/11, the Beastie Boys did a whole song that is just a love letter to NYC. I think it's one of those songs that you don't really appreciate or understand unless you're from there. I think you might enjoy. It's called An Open Letter To NYC.
czcams.com/video/ny6hwUOFvlw/video.html
Love both of u!!! Thx 4 this reaction:) Please react to YBT...Tap the Bottle and Twist the Cap.
You 2 are awesome 🥰enjoyed your reaction!.. Shadrach, b boy bouillabaisse r great ones by them also
Beastie boys w Nas too many rappers & not enough mcs
There ain't no actual sample in the 70s, that's people playing tapes and LPs behind the track. Actual samples in hip hop starts in the 80s
All trackes the where used to make this.
www.whosampled.com/Beastie-Boys/Shake-Your-Rump/samples/
Where you will find the sugar hill song sampled by them and busta
The fruit clip was a take on something sports fans did in the stand called the wave.
You guys make a great team, suggestion Beastie Boys "ch-check it out " Live on Davide Letterman. It will blow you away how good these guys are.
Please react to their song "High Plain Drifter"!
I'm shocked that all these reaction channels have missed Looking Down The Barrel Of A Gun.....one of their best songs by far! The music video is on CZcams
We will check that out then!
Check out Body Movin and Right Right Now Now
