Other DJ's: Scratching to a beat.
Mix Master Mike: Scratching a beat.
He came in with one record. Not two. Not one record and a drum machine, or a record and a sampler, or a record and a laptop. The entire beat is made live out of scratching. This is a completely analog performance, all in real time. Nothing prerecorded or programmed.

It’s cool to see people still having fun watching the Beastie Boys. Unless you have heard the entire library of Beastie boys you might think they only do hip hop. However they started out playing punk rock music. The guys were actually pretty good musicians as well as far as playing instruments.
They eventually moved into mainly hip hop. They even did a joke country album which is actually pretty hilarious. Most hip hop groups don’t really make it into the hall of fame. Unless you had a major impact on rock like the Beastie Boys, Run DMC, Public enemy, they don’t usually put many hip hop artists in the HOF.
Just some interesting background you might appreciate. Speaking of Hip Hop and rock you should definitely react to Public Enemy with Anthrax bring the noise music video.
Chuck D actually inducted Beastie Boys into the HOF which is also pretty awesome. Anyways have fun! This was the first video I watched from your channel I enjoyed it!

I used to wonder that too, apparently the R&RHoF was founded in 1983 but didn't find a home until 1986 when Cleveland had the most interest in having it in their city. Alan Freed was a DJ from there back in the day and coined the phrase "Rock & Roll", which played a part in naming it. What I found Interesting, is the founder and curators of the facility, based the R&RHoF on 500 songs, dating back as far as 1920, that shaped Rock & Roll. The songs are from a wide range of genres including, Jazz, Bluegrass, R&B, Big Band, Rockabilly etc.. so the founders wanted it to be for all popular music and anything else that might blossom from the original 500 songs.

Yes the Beastie Boys are in the Rock n Roll hall of Fame they are also the first hip hop group to have a #1 album on the charts. Also, regarding their clothes, I can't speak on Adrock and Mike D clothes but one of the things that MCA got into was Buddhism and one of the things that came out of that was he became very anti-fashion, he's a millionaire who used to buy his clothes at Modells Sporting Goods and Kmart and shit, he was very into not caring about what was cool or trendy or not, which made him even cooler.
