    I’ve been an Apex man for a few years, it outshoots federals in seemingly every category. Those verdicts were wicked as well. My Beneli sbe3 12 is my pride and joy but seeing what a lot of these 20 gauges are doing really has me thinking. Patterning with some buddys the other day mine was better but not by a whole lot considering the recoil difference

    • @lockedin.productions
      @lockedin.productions  Před rokem

      The lightweight, smaller profile of the 20 ga is the main reason we have started to run them, especially for turkeys when in a run and gun situation. Also throughout waterfowl as well as turkey season, there has yet to be a situation where we felt like we should have had a 12 ga. I would highly recommend giving a 20 ga a chance if you’re ever in the market for a gun in the near future! Thank you for the watch and feedback! It’s much appreciated

  • @-B_G-
    @-B_G- Před 2 lety +8

    At 20 yds you should go with the apex. It has the most uniform forgiving pattern. Having pellets stacked on top of each other isn’t the “best” pattern unless your shooting paper, turkeys move and you only need 5-10 pellets to be lights out, so the leeway is welcomed if your calling birds to a reasonable distance. At 20 yds you could shoot any low brass load on the market and kill em grave yard dead.

    You do realize any shot will work at 20 yards don't you? #9 lead is just as effective as TSS at that distance, plus you get a lot more shot.

    • @lockedin.productions
      @lockedin.productions  Před 2 lety +1

      Agreed they will all kill em dead at 20! Just trying to find the one that gives us the most room for error in case we do have to stretch out on one! Also, there are many more pellets in TSS loads due to the tungsten being denser than lead and allowing for a much smaller shot size and more pellets in the same size payload!

    • @bgdesignandsolutions
      @bgdesignandsolutions Před 2 lety +1

      @@lockedin.productions #9 lead has more pellets than #9 TSS. Count them.
      1 oz lead has 585 pellets.
      1 oz TSS has 362.
      Same size, and at 20 yards lead is a whole lot cheaper. Go with the lead and forget the high cost, especially if you're not gong to shoot over 20-30 yards or so.
      1200 fps, 20 yards Energy:
      Hevishot = 1.2 lbs
      Pure Lead = 1.1 lbs
      Chilled Lead 1.0 lbs
      Tun Matx = .95 lbs
      Tung Iron .90 lbs
      Bismuth .8 lbs
      Not enough to justify the cost in my books.
      I've shot gallon milk jugs full of water at 50 yards, and there is no difference in penetration.
      But I just use #5 lead and get plenty good results. 52, 54, 62, 63, 64 yard one shot drops.
