- Heavy Rock Train Working Hard On Steep Hill In Williamsburg, Ohio! Listen To These EMD Geeps Fighting Gravity As They Try To Lift A Heavy Train Up A Steep Grade. This Is The Cincinnati Eastern Railroad On The Norfolk Southern Peavine Line.
First we go to the Williamsburg hill to watch the loaded rock train come around a curve, cross a railroad crossing and continue on to Afton Yard with a train load of rock, railroad ties and an empty flat car on the rear. The train is westbound and coming back from the east end of the line. The rock comes from Hanson quarry at Plum Run, Ohio which is just east of Peebles. The raw railroad ties come from McCoy Lumber in Peebles, Ohio. The flat car was pulled out of temporary storage on the east end of the line. This train stopped at Afton Yard for the day minutes after I filmed it.
We also see the heavy welded rail up close and the Norfolk & Western Railway color position lights. Check out the pole line also.
Next, we see some very historic video that I filmed back on October 1, 2020. This is at the Sardinia Wye. Check out the locomotives and caboose that are being switched around. The caboose and GP49 are long gone. The B36-7 is out of service but the MP15DC switcher is still in use here today. The caboose was used in remote control service for a short time on rip rap trains used for maintenance of way. I have a few videos of the caboose in action but it didn't stay on the line for very long. It came from the east and wound up leaving for the west.
Don't miss the slide show at the end and Norfie doing what she always does.
Filmed Wednesday, April 24, 2024 in 1080p with 60fps. Thanks for watching!

Here Is A Video Of A Train Stalling On This Hill: czcams.com/video/JZsFfaiDxZY/video.html
I restarted the video and put on some headphones. Wow! That EMD power! Those GP's had to be in notch 8! Thank you, Jawtooth!
Yes notch 8 for sure! I love that sound also
And nice sounding Nathan P3 horns, too.
That's the railroad symphony orchestra
Cool 😎
That,s some great live action.
Awesome
Them engines were struggling. Enjoyed the video

🇺🇲🚂🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🇺🇲
Awesome video, have a good weekend buddy.
Thanks, you too!
And nice caboose
For the rock train, "The struggle is real"! 😂
Anyway, good luck with the lot JT.
I think they need more DPUs for extra power there and to help pull. They seem to be struggling badly pulling up those hoppers.
Great hard working train.I felt compelled to want to help push it.
It slowed down pretty good but they made it
Awesome!. Just in time for my recommended daily average of train action - thanks JT!
Perfect!
Now that’s one awesome show by the CCET. Locomotives down on their knees with a heavy rock train, sweeet.👍🏼
Another great video JT. Those engines sound about how hard I work just getting dressed every day...😂
Lol, like me trying to get up this morning lol
Great shot love that short line railroad. I noticed those high mounted lights on both ends of that caboose. Never seen that before.
It's cool 😎 to see another caboose still in active service, JT! Nice carch. 😊😊😊❤❤❤
Sure is!
Awesome shot of the train going up the hill that a steep hill for them
They are sounding great coming up the hill JT! 😊😊😊❤❤❤
Loved the roar of the EMD's.
Great show 😺😁
Morning JT, WOW what a crescendo of noise! Those engines were working so hard & so was the horn. I love this railroad very pretty. Hi Chessie! I loved the coca cola lorry too. Fab video. ❤😊🐕🐈⬛👍
Thank you very much!
Cool train pulling hard. Beautiful locomotive but that horn is piercing. Love Chessie riding with you Mr JT. She's a sweet girl.I hope you get that piece of land. Thanks for another awesome video. Enjoyed it. ❤😊
Thanks 👍 I hope so too.
Great catches awesome chase and nice video
Thank you very much!
Wow! Excellent catching the Cincinnati Eastern Railroad in Williamsburg, Ohio, I like it, @JawTooth, thank you very much.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Good Morning to the crew.. and Brian too..
Another great video JT and as always you stay safe out there and watch your back and we’ll catch you on the next one and also you have a blessed weekend my friend
Thanks! You too! We are getting perfect weather finally
Amazing!
Thanks!
@@JawTooth Hi Brian! You're welcome!
Thanks for another stellar video. I appreciate it JT! 😊😊😊😊❤❤❤❤
My pleasure!!
That power was doing pretty good for almost 50 years old. Indeed the sound.came out just fine as they kicked up dust and sand at the Crossing. And watching them recede it was probably walking speed at best. One thing that would have helped is to not overload those hoppers just for the tonnage but you also don't need more Hoppers with the bulged out walls Thanks for the extra footage of the drag race with the two sets of power. Such a difference only 4 years makes
Pulling there hearts out
Hi Jaw & it's Randy and i like yours video is cool & Thanks Jaw & Friends Randy
Hello Randy! Have a great day
Awesome train 🚆 video from Brian. I hope that you are feeling better. Good luck 👍. It was nice to see Chessie again.
Wow! That train had those GP15's maxed out, and on there knees going up that hill! Good video JT!
Thanks for watching!
That sounded like a real freight train. A proper load on a heavy grade! Nice to be reminded of the previous motive power on CCET and 2414 is the only one still seeing regular action. A lovely little switcher. Also nice to see Chessie out trainspotting plus a great shot of Norfie the cat as she is hard to film.
An old antique store saying: "The time to buy it is when you see it". Glad you at least put in an offer otherwise it would be years of "coulda woulda shoulda". Awesome video with bonus. Thanks JT!
My thoughts exactly. There was a lot that sold last year just down the road and I wish I could have got it. It sold at auction and I was bidding but dropped out. I am kicking myself for not getting that one. This one is smaller but it is really close to my house
Power, power, power. They need more when Purina opens or maybe before. If one of those locomotives goes down, it will cause some real problems.
Buy it. NOW!!!💯👍🧐
Good "luck" with the offer!! Loved the flashback, great engines and boxed up caboose! Great closeup of your cat, too... she's gorgeous and well looked after!
Thanks 👍
The train gods were with me yesterday morning. Got to a crossing just in time to catch the longest cut of autoracks I've ever seen.
very good Norfie time thank you
Good evening all, watching the trains & playing my games!! 🙂
Thanks for the visit!
Thanks for the great video Jaw Tooth. I really do love that old signal from the spot you were filming from. Anthony (Australia)
great video sir 😍😍❤❤
Thanks a lot!
That C E R engines were working hard and the engine was awesomely 📢 loud music 🎶 to my ears nice one JT 👍👍👍👍👍👍
Glad you enjoyed it!
I really enjoy when you cover this line, short or long your videos are always awesome JT👍👍
Glad you like them!
The two GP15-1s were working hard to bring their westbound train up the Williamsburg Hill at the Gay Street crossing in Williamsburg, Ohio. They were pulling 19 loaded hopper cars of rock plus one loaded gondola car of rock. The springs on the hopper cars were compressed. Thank you for adding the short video from 1 October 2020 with the now long-gone engine and caboose. I am surprised that some governmental authority has not told the owner of property to cap that open well. That open well is a hazard.
It's kind of ironic actually. I am buying a property with an open well on it and when I worked for the health department for 20 years I sent out a lot of orders for people to cover open wells Lol. When I take over ownership of the lot that is the first thing that I am going to do. That is dangerous. I wonder how many little animals have fallen in there. I remember back in the 80s when a little kid fell into a well in Texas. We got reports of a lot of open wells after that. Thanks for watching Thomas!
That was Truly Awesome Stuff Jaw Tooth.
Keep on Tracking with your Excellent Posts.
Kind Regards.
Love the older rail action from 2020. Always nice to see older vintage equipment. Hope you get the land you put an offer in. Opportunities don't come often to combine one's property. Weather is getting better. Happy weekend J.T. 😊
That would be cool and I think it will happen. It will take a couple of weeks
I love seeing those gp38-2s. They’re so cool!
nice
Thanks!
Nice work on your railfanning jaw tooth keep it up and be safe out here and Have fun rail fanning
And I like the caboose! It doesn't look that old either , I've seen older. TY bye Chessie!
Awesome as always 🎉
Great rock train action Jawtooth! Love them old signal's that's still left on the line, i hope they sell them someday instead of scrapping them!👍
That would be cool! they should be in a museum
Looks like the railroad needs to start replacing ties.
Omg Brian that emb power is music to my ears thank you 😊
Mine too!
Love CET plus a caboose too! Thanks JT! Hope you get that land. I like you with hair LOL. ❤
I hope so too! I cut my hair after I went to Florida and tried to swim in the ocean. Salt water really messes with hair lol
It was nice to see the caboose.
😅that rocktrain was powerful enouch. thanks 4 the video, have a nice weekend.😅greetz:🍐Peer.👍👍👍👍
woah! this is nice! SD40s and an old rusty signal, I would've done anything to travel back in time to see how those signals worked
1947 tie plates. I'm sure that steel is full of old tanks, guns and ships. I do know that scrapping Liberty ships was still happening as late as the early 70s.
Cool, I never thought about that! That really is interesting. Just think of all the trains that passed over it. The 611 has been over it numerous times as recently as 94
Dam those locomotives were working hard.
I love the videos of the local Shortline railroads. Keep up the good work really appreciate your efforts involved in all your filming Associated costs
Thank you very much!
CET sure keeps their power clean and painted up nice . 😊
You got that right!
Hey jaw tooth awesome train. Really struggling. Glad they made the hill. Should have a dpu on back pushing. Hope you buy the land. Have a great railroad day.🚂🙋♀️
Hey Brian, you need to get that 1acre. Then if that 60 ever comes up get it too. Don't need no subdivision back there. Later Terry.😊
Wow! I remember 218 and 217 piggy back train running that former Cincinnati District. Now 218/217 runs up to Columbus over to Cincinnati. I’ve got a feeling that may change.
The CCET may need to get one more powerful engine if they continue to haul heavy loads like this
They will have to especially when Purina comes on line next year. I saw them working on a B36-7 so I am wondering if maybe they will fire one of them up again. I sure hope so.
@@JawTooth I agree. Pulling full rock trains with these two engines working overtime getting up grades will eventually cause issues on the motors that will be expensive to fix
I also wouldn’t mind if they acquired some ex BNSF Dash 9-44CWs. Plenty of them available. My ultimate fantasy for the CCET would be that they get so much business that they could get a quartet of brand new locomotives! I would absolutely go bonkers seeing a quartet of shiny new CCET ES44ACs fresh from Erie or FT Worth! I still remember when the Susquehanna got their new Dash 8-40B and SD70M locomotives!
@@armandoperez7967 That would be awesome!
Those locomotives sounded great pulling up that hill! That old well would make me nervous; I've came across a lot of those as a kid exploring around old houses. If you get the lot, you could do like the neighbor did across the road from me. He bulldozed up the old house, tree stumps, etc. He filled the well and burned the rest of the debris . I can't tell it was ever there
What great sound comin' up that hill! Nice man! I often wondered why they got rid of those gp49's? They were really nice locomotives....
Good question! I miss those units. I also liked the SD45s
That's a nice piece of ground. I hope you get it. Great investment.
I hope so too! It's really pretty. I want to clean it up and mow it. Maybe put a shed on it
Great video JT. Loved listening to that EMD powering that rock train. Sounded awesome. You should put a caboose on that land if you get it and do an AirBnB. It's a nice spot.
That would be cool!
Listen to them EMD pups scratch and crawl up the hill! Notch 8 is gr8!
Thanks for watching!
They gotta be running at Notch 8! Awesome sound.......
Thanks for watching!
Another great watch
Thanks for watching!
Great video JT, always entertaining.
Thanks 👍
liking the roar
Thanks for watching!
Pulling a hill in Notch 8. If only I could turn that into a continuous loop for white noise to relax me and put me to sleep.
Good morning Jaw Tooth.
EMD motors sounded good, noticed the old N&W truck 🚚 trailer!🛤🚂
I love the sound of those motors. There used to be a lot of those N&W trailers. Sardinia wye area is like a museum
It is running across some damn woods to the right and you'd be able to catch the train on the next crossing
19K a good offer? Watch out for ticks in there ;) Thanks for the video :)
😊👍👍👍👍👍
Merci beaucoup pour cette très belle vidéo ! 👍🙏
Thanks for watching!
@@JawTooth You're welcome. Have a great week-end!
Good morning
