- HUGE Cincinnati Eastern Mixed Freight With Tankers On The West End Of The Norfolk Southern Peavine Line! Both Geeps Are Working Hard! Listen To The Power Pulling 33 Cars Through Milford, Ohio Into Newtown, Ohio. Rusty Rails Before & After. Includes Both Sides Of Train And Pacing Shots From Both Sides. Short Line Railroad Action At Its Best!
The rails were getting rusty since it had been 3 or 4 days since a train had passed on this part of the line. Both GP15-1 locomotives went to the quarry at the east end of the line to get the rock train and work a few other customers. I believe it was on Thursday when they went east and this video was filmed on Monday, February 26, 2024. We first see the rusty rails next to a crossing at Summit Road. I knew the train wouldn't make it to the west end of the line until later so I filmed in Kentucky and then returned to CCET later in the day.
I first caught the train at the Roundbottom Road crossing near Milford. This is the first time I got this angle. It was rush hour so there was a lot of traffic. After I caught it here I paced it for a short distance going under Interstate 275.
Next we see the train crossing the Beechwood Road crossing. This is a very busy intersection. After I caught them here I paced them and got the engineers side of the train running along Round Bottom Road.
Third shot is of the other side of the train. I got the train going over Mount Carmel Road just east of Newtown, Ohio. The train stopped at Anchor which is just west of here and is next to Newtown. I believe they shut down here for the day. The SD40-2 unit was sitting here hooked to some rock cars.
This train was a good one. It had loads of railroad ties, grain, rock and storage cars. It is rumoured that the train had 33 cars.
On my way home there was a car wreck on US50. I filmed part of it since I got stuck there for a minute anyway. I took a different way home and stopped at Purina for an update. Tracks are being laid right now at Purina but there is no easy way to film it. I will see if I can get some video of it but don't count on it.
I was a little surprised that the SD40-2 wasn't on this rock train. Usually it is with a Geep. Don't miss the Live Action Pets and the slide show at the end. It's always a pleasure to see and listen to the GP15s as they shoulder fairly heavy freights along the system. Just found out there is a GP 15 in use in NW Wisconsin.and a CSX GP15 passed thru Milwaukee a few weeks ago. I sure am glad the traffic lights work correctly at that intersection alongside the tracks is there really is no margin for error with a car hanging over. Silly old Norfie with her tail which provides cheap entertainment. Gotta love them!

Your 26 February 2024 video of the westbound Cincinnati Eastern Railroad mixed freight to Newtown, Ohio was a good video to watch. I enjoyed the different views of the train as it made its way to Newtown. The engines were pulling hard to get their train down the line. Thank you for the update on what is happening at the Nestle Purina dog food plant. Hopefully, this plant will be in operation soon and provide the Cincinati Eastern an additional revenue stream.

They will need more power. Unsubstantiated rumours from unreliable sources say that Purina will need 80 cars a day, six days a week!
17:22 Jawtooth, is that a Bombay cat? A Bombay is just a domestic short haired cat. They have black fur, yellow eyes, half crazy and Very agile. Mine used to walk the shower curtain rod when I was taking a shower. Ours was found in a field in 1990 and lived until 2008.

You would have thought that they would have used the 6 axel on such a heavy load.
I actually thought that they did. Normally they do so I was surprised to notice that they had both geeps. The SD40-2 was being used on a short train in Milford unloading rock cars. They unload on the main line and moved the short rock train just before this train came

Yes they do their own track work but they don't own the track. They lease 69 route miles from Norfolk Southern
