- 3 Trains Passing At A Railroad Crossing In Wilmore, Kentucky, About 100 New Railroad Cars Mostly Without Graffiti, Railroad Maintenance Of Way Equipment, A Caboose & Close Look At 1910 Rail That Is Still In Use. These Trains Are On The Norfolk Southern Railroad Rat Hole Line In Wilmore, Kentucky. Includes Union Pacific Power And A Night Train.
When 1960gambit and I arrived in Wilmore, Kentucky, there was a freight train sitting next to the railroad crossing and waiting to get a signal to head southbound toward Chattanooga. After a short time a northbound unit train with mostly new covered hopper cars went through and passed the southbound train. This train had a Union Pacific locomotive leading.
Next, the southbound train gets a signal and proceeds over the railroad crossing. While it is moving southbound a third train passes it on the other track. We can see parts of the train.
Then we take a look at the maintenance of way equipment on the siding and take a close look at the lighter pound rail used for the siding. A little while later a southbound auto racks train with some steel coils cars passes. We thought this would be the last train. Right before we were about to leave we heard a train approaching in the distance.
The final train went past us shortly after the last bit of light was gone. I filmed the northbound manifest at the crossing and used the light on a pole and the cars on the street to help my video. This was a pretty good train and had a DPU locomotive on the rear working hard. Listen to the sound of the DPU! That was awesome and we were glad that we waited. We left right after that train. The best frequencies to use in Wilmore are 160.515 and 452.9375.
Don't forget the Live Action Pets and the slide show that comes from the video.
Filmed Wednesday, February 21, 2024 in 1080p with 60fps. Thanks for watching!

The problem is that graffiti has become acceptable in today’s society. It was rare in the 70s and early 80s. I miss those days!
A few years ago my current girl friend and I went to Miami to visit her daughter and son-in-law and they took us to an art display type place where we saw, what they thought was fantastic art, I remarked that I see this type of “art” on every freight train that goes through my hometown and it’s called graffiti! And it’s graffiti by vandals! They were not impressed. But that’s what it was.
I hate it. It's all over the place.
Graffiti goes back millennia. It's found at Roman sites ca. 1900 BP and in the Egyptian pyramids ca. 4600 BP.
You "wrote" out those words that have been right in my head. Some people call it "graffiti," but I call it "scribble scrabble."
yo my meaning as a EX-Train-Worker🐥🚃🚟🚋& A REAL single-Life-HATTER🔥out/from DIRTY-swizzerland💀🇨🇭🕛& for me is Grafitty REAL a GOOD💞ART !!!
I just want to take a moment and mention how much I enjoy watching all of your Train videos. Thank you so much for the pleasure that you bring to all of us. Specially, enjoy watching your pets. Thanks again.
I have noticed that car manufacturers are putting the reporting marks higher on new rolling stock. There was a rare boxcar near the end of the 3rd train, Seattle & North Coast Railroad patched over to LRS. FYI, can't read reporting marks in low light. 4 trains, outstanding catch. Thanks for sharing. 👍
What a awesome job from Brian today. We got 2 train 🚆 videos. This day will make any train fan happy 😊. Many thanks.
It's another brilliant train presentation from you 👍
Many thanks!
the sound of those ge's taking off was sweet.
The dpu easy to see. In fact, that entire train ya can see.
What a package! Super clean hopper cars without graffiti, bulkhead flat car, lumber carrying centerbeam cars, nice clean tank cars, double incoming trains, DPU icu, Norfy and gambit! Wow wow
Glad you enjoyed it
Train looks like brand new cars ‘just delivered’ and received by the railroad
An awesome southbound NS mixed freight! The yellow box car without any graffiti was absolutely beautiful if you ask me. It wasn't very long but it was way cool! Thanks 👍 for the entertainment, JT. 😊😊😊😊❤❤❤❤
Glad you enjoyed it
That last train you was in the right spot where light was illuminating the relective decals on the train. That was awesome!
cool dpu
Cool maintenance equipment sitting on the siding
Gm Brian how are you and your family doing
The last train was going plenty fast, that's for sure! 😊😊😊😊❤❤❤❤
I think so too!
Love that new car smell.
It looks like all of the pets are tired after your big day in Wilmore 😂. 😊😊
Very! they had been running around playing in the yard
Wow a legit 2nd section on the JT Mainline of trains. That train with all the new covered hoppers is always an impressive sight but it is somewhat sad that no emblem was applied to them unless they are stopping by a shop before going into service. A company should have some pride in their name. Recently a batch of older Norfolk and Western cars got retired and they are on the Twin Cities and Western and likewise a large group of Southern cars is coming due for retirement. Apparently those ribs are the new Norm on covered hoppers as even a small group of shorter cars near the end of the second train has them. Also a unique three Center beams with untreated ties that have air cushion bags between some of the stacks so that they don't slip and fall out. I love how Brandi has the Do Not Disturb look while Chessie has her "I'm the Sheriff in Town'" book on display so low senority Loki gets the floor.
I don't think they show pride in their companies on railcars like they used to. I wish they would. Thanks for watching!
A couple of ballast tampers and a ballast "Regulator," very cool JT.
Another awesome video JT, but that was grain and those new grain cars and did you hear all of the flat spots on the wheels of those new cars and that’s because the local engines and the switching yards wouldn’t wait an extra five minutes to make sure the air was built up before they pulled on them And all it takes is to slide one of those wheels about 5 foot and it starts a flat spot and it keeps getting worse and worse. I can’t believe that that all of those new cars you heard all of those flat spots on those wheels but anyway y’all stay safe out there you and gambit and we’ll see you on the next one.
Awesome JT thanks have a good day Greetings from Scotland 😊
Thanks! You too!
@@JawTooth your welcome JT 😊

Awesome seeing brand new cars without graffiti , for now anyway.
True that!
Wow Excellent catching all the trains in Wilmore, Kentucky, @JawTooth, Brian, I like them all, thank you very much.
Glad you like them!
@@JawTooth Thanks!
These trains were awesome. Loved it all. Thanks Mr J T. Norphie is so cute. Aww...Brandi and Chessie napping. ❤😊
Thanks for watching!
Good morning Brian. Be safe out there today. Today is the wife’s birthday so we’re doing a little day trip with the family. Have a good one and God bless 🙏🏻.
Great video. Three train meet looks as good as it gets in that area
Thank you very much!
Awesome J T love the catches. Btw if you and,or Mrs Jawtooth ever come to St Louis Missouri let me know. I can show some amazing train catching sites and they are train foamer friendly.😊
Jawtooth
When i was younger. I remembered the MTA NYC Subway trains had lots of graffiti. Sadly those trains are retired. The newer trains have no graffiti. But if there is graffiti spotted or any type of vandalism the trainis taken out of service and most likely to a yard for cleaning.
Any way awesome video.
Thanks for watching

Your Welcome 👍🏻
I love all of your train videos because I love to watch the trains pass by
Amazing videos Jaw Tooth keep up the good work
Laying down the sand,,,,Taking up the slack,,,,gone today but I'll be back. EXCELLENT CATCH JAWTOOTH 💯👍🇺🇸
I saw that many new unsoiled cars once, about 45 years ago. They were all grainers for Lapeyrouse grain corporation. They were coming into Mobile and headed to the grain elevator at the State Docks. They were on the now removed Burlington Northern tracks which used to belong to the Gulf Mobile & Ohio railroad. It was a slow train and I must have been at that crossing for about 30 minutes. That would have been quite a rail fan moment had there been a way to record it back then other than a bulky shoulder camera. It was late at night as I was coming home from the 3-11 shift. No one else was at the crossing and I had the view all to myself.
Cool, that would have been a good video as long as you had enough light. I would put my high beams on lol
That DPU on the night train was working hard & roaring very loud 🔊 nice one JT as always Live Action WOOO 👍👍👍👍👍👍
Glad you enjoyed it
You have one of the best railroad channels on CZcams and the internet and I really enjoy watching them. Thank You. I do have an interesting question to ask you; how does the engineer know when to blow his horn while passing a crossing even in the night when you can see some of them?
Wow, thanks! Most of the time the engineer just has the experience and knowledge of the line but there are signs next to the track that let the engineer know when to blow for a crossing. Most of the signs will have a big W on them
I always like grocery shopping, shopping and malls.
Listening to those locomotives takeoff and add that horsepower gradually pick up the speed. That is awesome thanks for your videos. Glad you’re back out on the road.
Thanks for watching!
He's right, that train could be the pinnacle of cosmetic perfection so far
thanks for watching!
Fabulous video! Thanks for sharing it with us. 😊😊😊😊😊❤❤❤❤❤
My pleasure 😊
@@JawTooth Mine too!
All trains would, and should, look like that first one if the railroads would bring back Yard Detectives with thier dogs and clubs.
Thanks for the night train fix, enjoyed it immensely!
Glad you enjoyed it
Empty grain wagon north with UP 7649 leading came to Elkhart Indiana then to White Pigeon Michigan on short line loaded & arrived back in Elkhart this morning After servicing power & reversing power to east end of train will to go east & maybe south back
I see your back from your vacation! I hope you enjoyed yourselves! They always go fast🤬 that's the second train you got with brand new grain hoppers! Shoestring won't like them, no place to hide🤣🤣😂 awesome trains and a train meet super cool. A night train too! Thanks for the video Brian, stay well roll on
Thanks for watching!
Awesome video Brian. Loved it
Awesome thank you!
Awesome shooting and trains and facts about the area your in are so interesting night time shot was super good focus all over A++++ well done Jaw Tooth and your looking good my friend
Thanks for your comments!
Thanks Jaw Tooth and Scott for excellent video, and Wow to all those new Rail Cars. My wife Nancy and I want to thank you and appreciate you for posting really great trains videos and introducing us to Scott Gambit and all the Southern Ohio, Railfans, a BIG THANK YOU, to my friend and Mrs. Tooth, children, and animals. Many Blessings to you all.
Love the videos. My grandfather and great grandfather were engineers on the old Southern railroad. I have learned a lot watching and they are very educational.
I just noticed the cars had no graffiti just a second before you said so
I was in Ft. Knox in 1966... i was seventeen at the time.
Great catches awesome capture and nice video
I had some college friends teach at the high school in Jackson, KY and took some classes at Morehead as part of the program they were on back in the mid 60's. I even joined them for one semester though I did not take classes at Morehead. Thanks for the memories!
Awesome trains JT, especially the first one with new graffitiless cars, it’s a shame they let people do what they want to these freight cars. That last train was in a real hurry too. Great job.👍🏼
Thanks 👍
@@JawTooth your welcome JT.👍🏼
I enjoy watching your videos....
I appreciate that!
Nice meet!
Thanks!
Great video JT! Excellent night runner!
🚂🚂🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃💯👍🇺🇸
I agree both ways about the graffiti but I hate the fact you can not see the new automobiles on the train because of the protection.
Superb...and that means Excellent!
Thank you so much 😀
Could be Salt, or Plastic Pellets. Great Video's as always my Friend. Especially like the Video's with the Tank Cars and giving the UN- Number of what they Contain. Keep feeling better my Friend. I just had 3 Heart Stents put in and doing Better. I do Firewood, and Log Cutting, for myself. Now instead of doing it for Hours I can only do it for 1hour..Ron from the Woodyard in Duanesburg NY is.
Cool, thanks for your comments. Your surgery was more serious than mine. I am glad that you are still able to do that. I used to heat by wood but I got lazy lol
My niece lives down there in Kentucky sum were I have t seen in 15 years. But we do have kin there .
Loved the video. Kitty Rocks.. ❤ also showing up the rails of 1910 on the siding is amazing .. thank you for the effort JT..
Glad you enjoyed it!
Looking at the springs on the trucks, I would say those are empty grain hoppers. And with the tell-tale rust on the wheels I'd say they are brand new out of the shops on their way to get broken in. I know C&O used to build cars in Kentucky. Don't know if CSX still does. Great find and thanks for sharing it
Hey jaw tooth cool trains. First one was the cleanesed I've ever seen. Cool meet with second train. I watch trains night and day. Have a great railroad day 🚂🙋♀️
Thanks! You too!
Excellent video JT, and I have to say it’s one of your best. A block train with no tags, a rare sight. Your vids alongside Gabits are always much appreciated here in the middle of England.
Cool, thanks!
Another great video JT. Love the night train. Norfie is so beautiful. There’s Brandy asleep and Chessie taking a bath. Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it
Lol yeah the graffiti. How about Homer Simpson lying down the whole length of an auto rack. Or Radio Fred He bends the rails. He is on a refrigerator car. I have never seen that many cars without graffiti. Great catches Brian.
You have the best train content on youtube. TY.
Wow, thanks!
In the early 80s. I worked for a grain market. I used to load grain cars. Corn, soybeans mostly. I lived in N.C. then. Now I live in southern Arizona. Nice video.
Very cool!
Dem Hoppers Look Brand New😮
JT, amazing as always, hello from Lancaster, Ky
Nice catch with the N/S meet! Great video Brian! Thanks!
Thanks for watching!
Awesome Jawtooth! One of my favorite areas!👍
Same here!
Love your channel. I look forward to it every morning. My name is Marcus Kirby born 3-12-1964. I live in Rosalie Alabama and we have no trains here on Sand Mountain but in the still air of winter I could listen to trains in Scottsboro. Your channel is a train lovers answered prayer.
Lots of good catches there.
Thanks for watching!
Really nice trains! Thanks so much Brian for sharing!
Thanks for watching!
@@JawTooth You're welcome Brian!
The northbound that passed by looked fairly long. I liked that yellow box car also. They are just stunning without being tagged! I liked the new ties as well. I'm thinking those cars were maxed out on weight, as heavy as a tie is. Another great catch boss! 😊😊😊😊😊❤❤❤❤❤
Good show, even at dusk.
Thanks for watching!
That was too cool! Great video!
Glad you liked it!
I see the numbers on the cars are pretty close too!
Wilmore looks like a hot spot. Good show today.
thanks for watching !
Greetings from the "driftless area" of Wisconsin!
Hello there!
I loved your nighttime train. Your filming was great, and the headlights on the car on the opposite side of the train highlighted underneath the train. Loved it ❤ 😊
Thank you very much!
I really enjoy this location , thanks for posting this 😊
My pleasure 😊
Nice "tooter" on the first one, key of Gb I think, new hoppers are carry'n gum drops...
Great video
Thanks!

Great video, Jaw!!
Ya know, (and this is just my opinion, obviously), when you are apprehensive about 'shooting into the sun', I think there's only been a few seconds of any of your videos that were ever effected by the sun. It's nice to know you're that conscientious about quality, but I feel you might be loosing a lot of great content. I respectfully ask/suggest that you experiment some - we'll let you know if the sun is a problem! LOL!
Since I'm taking up your time, I might as well cast my vote for bringing your radar unit back into the game more often. Seems a shame to not use it; and I'm also wondering if you've given serious consideration to doing any 'drone' videos.
Well my friend, take care; be safe and stay healthy; hope your recovery is complete!!
May God always protect you.
Yesterday I was shooting into the sun and I used a telephone pole to block the direct sun. I always have the radar with me but I keep forgetting to use it. I know I have a video coming up soon where I used it, not sure which one it is. I want a drone but I'm a little intimidated by having to learn how to use one and getting licensed. I know eventually I will get one. Thanks for watching my videos!
You have the same reason stopping you that I allowed to stop me with the drone. My wife had bought one when they first came on the market full force and we returned it because I wasn't comfortable knowing what was in the future.
@@trainman2k I don't like learning new stuff. Maybe if I got to play with one somewhere and see what it's like. It would be a big step up for my channel
@@JawTooth An old saying that has served me well, which might be something for you to consider, is, "Good boldly forward with a good heart and good intentions so the mightiest of forces can become your Allie"
@@trainman2k I like that
The rail cars like that where I worked had clay, silica, boron and other things.
Awesome and thanks for the info!
I live near the Florida East Coast railyard in Miami. Thanks for all you do. Love your channel.
Thanks for watching! I hope to get to Miami some day. I took a cruise from there some years back
Nice Video
Thanks
Nice video, good location, thanks..Liked that 4 truck super flat car, don't believe I ever saw one b/4...... Purty cats & dogs too.
Thanks 👍
There must have been a shortage of aerosol spray paint cans when those were shipped out. The other possibility was that they were just shipping brand new hoppers to their first loads. Also, what was the last car on the second north bound train? I've seen those before but I don't know what they are used for.
Nice video of your railfanning at Wilmore, Kentucky on 21 February 2024, Jaw Tooth! I enjoyed watching the train meets in this video. Did you notice a built date on the newer covered hopper cars in that first northbound. The train was moving too fast to see where the built date might be on the side of the covered hopper car. I was wondering why the R. J. Corman name was on the red Southern Railway caboose on display in Wilmore. Did R. J. Corman donate the caboose to Wilmore for display? You and #1960Gambit need to go further south on the Rat Hole Line to the wye that the daily coil steel roll trains #375 and #376 use to get off and on the Rat Hole Line to go to and from Rockport, Indiana via Louisville, Kentucky. Danville, Kentucky is about 24.5 miles south of Wilmore, Kentucky. The wye is a mile or two north of Danville.
Good video Jawtooth
Thanks!
