Route 39 is really special to me because, as a child, I was so worried for Moo Moo the Miltank. That wheezy-sounding Miltank cry followed by, "Its cry is weak..." always stuck with me and played a role in my eventual decision to work in healthcare.
i like how when you started this channel in the early 2010s, you were aiming at a nostalgic feel for like the 1990s-2000s. now it's been so long that the 2010s style IS the nostalgic thing now

Not being able to catch Mareep early on in Crystal was a crime
Yup such a weird decision to not have it. Not many other choices for electric types until later.

The mareep line not being in Crystal was a crime against humanity. Although i did like that i could catch poliwag near mr..pokemons house at night instead of after defeating falkner, obtaining the old rod and going back to violet city or outside of dark cave to fish and catch poliwag

That little pond is home to lv 10 Dragonair if you're so inclined to catch one. Why you'd want to wait until the post game to get the super rod, backtrack to Blackthorn, and navigate it just for one when Dratinis (and stronger Dragonairs) are in the dragon's den I'll never know.

One of the standout routes in Johto to me, was the cliff routes to the west of Cianwood in the remakes. The music, look and feel are a massive standout in my opinion.

I always liked routes 34 and 35. I remember enjoying the area around Goldenrod and the National Park and being stoked to add Nidoran to my team, one of my favorites!

I remember playing Gold version for the 1st time in the tower and incidentally killed Ho-Ho and I ran out of poke balls and it automatically saved I did the biggest dbz scream ever 😢
I've been there lol! That's why I always make sure to save before a legendary pokemon battle nowadays! 😂

I watched you since I was a teenager, it's good to hear a familiar voice. Damn I'm getting old lol
I'm so disappointed that Mareep was made unavailable in Crystal. My brother had gold and I had crystal as a kid so I just never had a Mareep or an Ampharos. Even when I got HeartGold, I didn't catch a Mareep because I was just trying to recreate the teams I made as a kid. It wasn't until Pokemon Y that I learnt how useful Ampharos is and it's been a mainstay on my teams ever since.
When you realize the day care is on Route 34
I was immediately thinking of the route with the day care. That route and also the one above the city kinda grew on me after I spent so much time walking around through them and training. During following playthroughs I did so because I really wanted to train - but during my first playthrough I was incredibly stupid. I absolutely couldn't figure out how to get rid of the tree. 😂

I started playing Pokemon in Gen 1, but nothing hits me as absurdly hard with nostalgia as the music from route 42-43-44/lake of rage you mention, legit teared up to it a fair amount of times. There is something about that theme that just hits me so hard with the feeling of adventure those games had.

Even though they're technically in Kanto, I would've included Route 26, 27 and 28 as well on this list. Simply because they're the routes connecting the two regions, being at the end of the game before the league, and because they weren't in the original Kanto games.
