The beauty of Knives Out is in the coin flip. During the flashback, we see why Harlan did what he did, and also have our biggest clue to Ransom's guilt ("Ransom? Are you back again already?"). All before the first act is over.
Glass Onion is also really fun.

The coin flip turns it from standard who-done-it into a thriller where we now follow Marta as she tries to get through this horrible situation without her mistakes burying her. Then the movie flips again and we find out we did not really know what happened and we are back to a who-done-it with a classic summation.

I remembered what Harlan said about Ransom, “He plays life like it’s a game without consequences until you can no longer tell the difference between a stage prop and a real knife.” Brilliant foreshadowing!
when Marta threw up on Ransom that was actually baby food mixed with water. Knowing that makes it easier to watch.
The movie was an homage to Agatha Christie novels. Have you read Agatha Christie? Her works broke the rules of the mystery genre; she became known as The Queen of Crime. Her novels go from 1920-1970s.
Actress who played Marta gave a phenomenal performance! Glad they cut away to her reaction to the suicide; the look of horror on her face was outstanding!
Like Blanc said, Harlan’s demise was the result of “a tragedy of errors.” When he pointed out how Marta could visually spot the differences between the morphine and the correct medication, he said it so quickly. Needed subtitles for that in the theater
That circular knife sculpture was an excellent use of Chekhov’s gun. To understand that, watch this:

I said “Roll credits” just as you did. 😂
So many details that you won’t catch on first viewing: the moment that Marta first steps out onto the porch to talk to Blanc, he looks down at her shoes and sees the blood. At one point, when Marta is at Ransome’s house, you can see a row of the bottles identical to the one used to fire bomb the office, minus one. Later, when they show him getting the initial ransom letter, you see the full row of bottles. To name but a few.
    This instantly became favorite movie.

CinemaSins taught us well 😂 I’ve watched so many movies all the way through thanks to watching the CinemaSins reacts first, believe it or not!
And how cool! I actually recently watched this again with my family on Christmas and they all loved it! Will DEFINITELY be watching it more in the future! I’ll keep an eye out for the things you mentioned! It’s always fun to find Easter eggs and small details!

Did you notice Richard's black eye, after Linda read the letter written with invisible ink?
There is a small reference to the movie "Sleuth" (1972) that you might enjoy.

If you like murder mysteries you might like *The Thin Man* 1934 and it's 5 sequels. I love them.

Goes to show how well they pick actors to play Bond, James Bond. Craig nailed this role.

I'm loving this watchalong with you; great selection.
If you want to keep continuing with the comedic whodunnit flicks, I highly recommend 1978's Murder By Death. A man, Truman Capote himself(!), invites a bunch of detectives to solve a murder mystery at his estate. All the guests are loosely based on famous literary detectives. Jocularity ensues 😂

As a show-biz person, you might appreciate the background of K Callan, who played silent-but-everpresent Greatnana Wanetta. Callan never made it BIG, but was a working actor for decades, doing dozens of pilots, one-season, and less-than-one-season shows and some small roles in movies here and there----finally landing a steady gig as Martha Kent in the hit “Lois and Clark” in the early ‘90s, which ran several seasons (she then went back to guest-starring roles and short-lived shows). She’s a reminder that the public often only pays attention to the top of the Hollywood iceberg: those who make it BIG, while there’s a huge industry around them with people like Callan who make a living as working actors their whole lives without becoming household names. Actually, Callan’s Grandnana’s quiet, longtime presence among all the louder, bigger actors’ characters sorta was like a microcosm of Hollywood history in a way, though I doubt the casting director consciously intended it.

Great reaction Amelia like always, i love this movie its not only Johnson (director) enjoying himself, but the entire cast is clearly having a blast. And how could they not? Johnson creates for them a narrative playground full of whip-smart dialogue, genre nostalgia, and with a biting sense of humor. There are some fun-facts about this movie, Joseph Gordon-Levitt makes a hidden cameo. The actor appeared in Johnson's earlier works including "Brick," "The Brothers Bloom," "The Interview," and "Star Wars: The Last Jedi," Johnson cast Gordon-Levitt as the voice on the program that Marta Cabrera (Ana de Armas)'s sister is watching in their kitchen. The ending scene, where Marta drinks out of a mug that says "My house, my rules, my coffee," wasn't planned until it happened. On a Podcast Johnson said, "It's funny that was it wasn't an accident, but it was kind of an accident. A happy accident. I knew I wanted her to like sip tea in the final shot, and I had had separately the idea of 'My house, my rules, my coffee,' as that first shot in the movie. Harlan's portrait wasn't ready when the cast started filming the movie. During his interview with, Johnson revealed that the portrait of Harlan wasn't ready by the time filming started. "When we started shooting the movie, we didn't have the painting. It wasn't done yet. We'd done a bunch of revisions to it, and we just didn't have artwork that we were happy with yet," And if you watch closely, Harlan's expression changes in his portrait once his murder is solved. In the beginning of the film, Thrombey appears straight-faced in the painting. Once the mystery is solved, his expression subtly changes, revealing a slight smirk. K Callan, who plays Great Nana Wanetta, is actually six years younger than Plummer, who plays her son Harlan. Some of the lines were changed to keep the film rated PG-13. In one scene, Hugh "Ransom" Drysdale (Chris Evans) tells his family members to "eat s---," a line that Johnson amended to avoid an R rating. "When I wrote it, it was 'F--- you.' He goes, 'F--- you, f--- you, f--- you, f--- YOU…' I decided right before we started shooting, I was like, 'You know what? I really want this movie to be PG-13,'" Johnson named the family members after 1970s rock stars. "In order to keep track of all the family members' names, I came up with a sort of cheat, sort of a code. I named them all after '70s rock stars," Johnson told. Keep up the amazing work
