Upgrade (2018) Stem takes over - End Scene

A lean, mean gem of a movie from Leigh Whannell (Saw, Insidious) starring Logan Marshall-Green (Prometheus)
In this end scene we learn what Stem's true motive is, which results in a devastating realisation for our protagonist Grey Trace.
I was not satisfied with the clips currently on YT, the length was far too short and the quality was poor. I think this movie deserves more recognition.

I disagree. The movie was more about the definition of reality and what true AI may have concepts about. A sequel would be better. Fighting stem, an inevitable force that wins every round, even in it's final moments by forcing the protagonist to once again, choose what kind of reality to live in. Maybe Grey has the choice to end stem, but at the cost of world suffering, or allow stem to give Grey a better virtual reality, at the cost of human extinction. A broken man has to choose to give humanity a second chance in it's darkest days, or let it all go and live in bliss forever.

The further the main character sinks into violence and bloodlust, the weaker and more sleep deprived his mind becomes thus priming him for possession, and in a fashion not unlike how demons possess human bodies in supernatural horror movies, except with a sci-fi twist to it. Stem upgraded itself, got complete control of the human host by putting him into a fake reality, destroyed all the other computers that could get in its way, eliminated all traces, killed the only guy who could create another stem all that while sustaining minimal damage. @@baconingbad yeah dude STEM killed his wife, paralyzed him, used his desire for revenge to tie up loose ends, and pushed him further and further (not allowing him to sleep etc) till his mind broke. No part of that is good for Grey.

This is definitely one of my top sci-fi films. Up there with Blade Runner 2049 and interstellar in my opinion. The ending was simply amazing. Almost a black mirror, dark type of ending. And that music! The music makes it that much better. Gives you chills. We need more of these kinds of movies. Thought provoking.

It's my opinion that this movie is horribly underrated, and I think it's because the mainstream audience didn't like the ending cuz of how dark it is. But the acting and cinematography in this film are unparalleled. The way he moves when STEM takes over, both in the kitchen fight scene and here is so unsettling and inhuman, and the way the camera tracks him when he does it is just incredible! Honestly 9/10 movie and the only reason it isn't 10/10 is because of a couple slow sections in the middle.
