An easy way to shift focus onto the body

  • Many people with tinnitus or high stress levels find it difficult to focus on the body and stay with this focus. This technique is simple, strong and very focussing and may stop you from bouncing back into the theatre of the mind / relentless twitter. The aim is to rest in the body experience rather than the made up twaddle that our brains come up with!

      Thanks so much for sharing. I'm delighted for you. Perhaps you could post this positive news under the "leave your positive stories here" video. The more this message gets out the more it helps others. Tinnitus is scientifically proven to be driven by fear, threat or depression which means that feeling safe, on top of things and calm makes it better. The more people hear about others getting better and the things that helped them, the more the sense of threat or overwhelm comes down. Wishing you a continuing success. Warm regards Julian

    Hello Julian
    I have had T for 7 weeks now. I have been following your advice and have your app. I really feel it’s getting better, in fact some days it goes completely - yesterday was my best day so far with silence for most of the day! But today it’s back, it’s rather depressing but I’ll keep going. I know I will get out of this. Thank you ❤❤

When I used to hear T I used to panic and anxious. Slowly I got tired of crying and panic. I continued to complain and try to find a cure for it. After watching your videos since last 20days I stopped panicking 80%. I being calm doing all the relaxation things. I still have a long way to go. It's been two n half months from T onset. Hi Julian,
    Greetings for the Day !
    I have been hearing a ringing sound in the right ear mostly from the past two weeks. I had payed a visit to a doctor who did and audiology test and confirmed i had Tinnitus. When asked if it would go away she replied it wont and would reduce by only 20% max.I was very disturbed and depressed untill i saw your video which directed to stop telling people it wont go away !
    Since that day i think i am getting habituated to it and i feel better.
    I am working with an uncle who works on pressure points,he applies pressure to the tip of my thumbs and the toes and has assured it would go away, hope this is also a body based practise ?
    Wish me luck and wish you all the best in your noble endeavours, it means a lot to me and i hope its likewise to all the people who have T.

      +Febin Lukose
      No one can confirm subjective tinnitus but you. To say it can only go away a max of 20% is ridiculous and not helping at all. It does get better and it will. Personally have gone from the most extreme state of depression and fear to moments of silence and back to fear again. Getting to a deep state of relaxation, using your mind to really focus on the body is the answer. Forget "accepting" it or "thinking positive" to change things. These things will come by itself from doing the right things.

      Dear Febin, I don't know why professionals give out such negative feedback. Sorry you have been exposed to this. If they bothered to phone up and see how people reacted they would probably think twice about dropping bombshells like that. Sounds like you have got a good body-based support there in your uncle. Remember that anything that helps you feel calm, relaxed and safe really helps. I would recommend you learning to self-soothe with gentle yoga or tai chi so that you can take your mind off the ringing and help settle your system. Wishing you all the best and thank you for your positive feedback. Julian

    Hi Julian,
    Your videos have been so incredibly helpful for me during my battle with tinnitus.
    I am 24 years old from the UK and my tinnitus originated from being exposed to loud noise 7 years ago. I am currently quite regularly receiving acupuncture which has been so helpful with reducing the volume and aggression of the tinnitus slightly. Unfortunately my ears are now extremely sensitive to sound, I can no longer listen to music and struggle to watch youtube videos even at a whisper level without causing my ear drums to feel like they are wincing with pain and my tinnitus will also immediately react to the music or youtube video by increasing substantially in volume and aggression, this could be from just listening to a podcast of people talking or even gentle, calm music. I am very concerned about this as it is having quite a damaging effect on my life and unfortunately my tinnitus (along with other what I believe to be associated health issues such as balance issues, severe visual disturbances such as 24 hour a day visual snow) drove me to quit my university degree and job and I am more or less housebound at the moment due to severe sensitivity to outside noises. I have found all of the doctors I have seen to be not useful at all and usually just say "I don't really don't know what's wrong with you" and send me on my way so I find you a wonderful source of information and I feel a great sense of reassurance when watching your videos. The symptoms I have described to you I believe to be hyperacusis, is it possible for me to ever get to a stage where my ears will again become more tolerant of sounds and not leave me in so much pain from these day to day noises?
    Max

    • @JulianCowanHill
      @JulianCowanHill  Před 8 lety +7

      Dear Max, I have been through exactly the same thing. All the hypersensitivity will settle, but to help it along the way, do keep going with the body-work. Have you tried craniosacral therapy? It helped me the most. Yes it is possible for you to get back to normal again. Just aim for well-being, relaxation, body-based, focussing and things like tai chi or yoga. If you come to London then book an appointment. If you are far away we can organise a skype session to talk things through. Please see my website www.cst.eu.com for details. Yes it sounds like you have hyperacusis. A knife dropping on the sink would make me jump out of the sink, but these days I'm fine again. Try practising the focussing techniques on the playlist. Try and do one of these everyday:

      Hi Julian,
      Thank you so much for your kind advice and thank you so much for all of your videos that give so much hope to many. Over the last week my symptoms have got progressively worse even with lot's of relaxation, I went back to my GP and told them things have gotten very desperate but as per usual there was nothing they could do or suggest. Sadly I've decided to take the decision to take my own life, and the plans are in place to do so now. It's something I have been thinking about for months and preparing myself for. I don't look at it as a negative thing but as a positive thing, when I think about the option of suicide it brings me a feeling of relief, it's knowing that I can switch all of this off and remove myself from the agony and torture.
      Thank you again Julian and all the best,
      Max

      how are you now?

    • @JulianCowanHill
      @JulianCowanHill  Před 6 lety +4

      Dear Max, yes you are clearly very alerted at the moment and are experiencing temporary hypersensitivity in your vision, hearing and facial nerves and balance. They are all switched on too much. This will go the more you feel calm, safe and relaxed. What you are experiencing is a common response to overwhelm. We can go in and out of fighr or flight and freeze response where our system shuts down and our senses and thinking go bananas! But please know that this is always temporary. Visual snow can settle quite quickly along with hyperacusis. In my experience two or three craniosacral sessions can knock these on the head. Think of visual snow as over-seeing. You are looking out far too acutely and seeing floaters, flickering etc that you would normally ignore. This is just like tinnitus, where you end up hearing too much and detect the internal noises of the nervous system. Please go massively into self-soothing mode and really prioritise safe relationships and experiences. I recommend weekly craniosacral therapy. If you would like a skype session to talk things through please get in touch. My email is info@juliancowanhill.co.uk Wishing you a steady recovery.

      +Adrian Oropeza Oropeza I wouldn't be surprised if the stress of the tinnitus is what's made it go into your other ear. From my experience and from others I've read about, 4 weeks is early days. Just remind yourself there'll be a time in the not too distant future that you'll be feeling better and keep that thought in your head.

    Hi Julian, your the life saver now for millions out here. But is there any special diet which can help? I heard stopping sugar, salt and carbs can help. I don't have BP or Diabetes, should I stop sugar and salt? Please guide, asi did see on any of your videos. Thank you

    • @JulianCowanHill
      @JulianCowanHill  Před 3 lety +1

      Cut down on salt and sugar to a minimum, and avoid too many stimulants like tea, coffee, alcohol (you do not need to give them up completely) and eat a healthy balanced diet. Eating a healthy diet helps, just like sleeping well helps. But you do not need to be drastic about this. Remember fear and anxiety and negative thinking are key components in the tinnitus pattern, so the best advice it to eat as healthily as you can and do not worry about it. There are some very strict regimes out there on what to eat and what not to eat which can stress people out. If you have a specific issue that you need to address then its best to see a nutritionist. I battled with Candida for years so when I eventually went on a candida diet it really helped me move to the next level. But you need to find what's right for your body. There is no point in you going on the candida diet if you haven't had lots of antibiotics and candidiasis.

    I’ve just realized that this is similar to myofascial release exercises which were given to me by a guy who saw one of my comments from another one of your videos. Fascia holds trauma. Dr.Gabor Mate says that illness begins in childhood trauma and that it remains stuck in our bodies. When doing myofascial self massage it releases not only toxins but the traumatized emotions we’ve been holding our bodies as well.
