When Basil imitates the duck simultaneously as he running to the guests at the restaurant is the best part. 😂🦆
Mrs Hall's optimism is the best. She tries so hard to make it a pleasent evening. ^^*
She has got *some* patience/optimism! I would have just walked out, nothing to do with duck, but to do with him giving me a menu, taking it away and then giving me a load of clear BS about the chef changing the menu when instead he was well-and-truly pickled. *Not giving Basil my money!*
@@SuperTed19021 You must be a very sad person, I'm so sorry for you!
@@SuperTed19021 You may not understand, but this is comedy
@@christianc.9216 🤣😉See, I'm not *that* so, am I?
@@ElvarMasson *IKT!* Just putting myself in Colonel Hall's shoes if I was in reality him. PS: "Fawlty Towers" is one of my *favourite* comedies, along with "Steptoe and Son". How I *do* wish they at least back then made a Christmas special of this.
Everything that happened in this episode ends up in a hilarious disaster, but this part is definitely one of the funniest parts I have ever seen
The entire site is based in that premise
I like how for once, none of it is Basil's fault and Sybil is in his corner because he's not trying to lie to her
“Duck surprise”…. Gets me every time.
Even better when he assaults the faulty (Fawlty)car. 😅. 🤓😎✌🏻
When he faints and gets into a terrible muddle over introducing Mr and Mrs Twitchin very funny too.The duck impersonation very funny as well.
If you don’t like duck you’re rather stuck 😂😂🤣
Lmao
*Walk out time!*
Really he said that thanks Sherlock

Oh no. Someone quoted the video. Let's all cry
Henry Kissinger was a grey-haired politician when that was recorded in 1975.
And he still is.
Crazy to think he's 99 and he's still talking politics in 2023
Those whom the god love die young.
The inverse also holds.
War criminal
Secretary of State to Nixon I think.

Genius is the word, brilliant timeless comedy!
Sybil sounds like Marge Simpson when she repeatedly says "WHY!" 😂
Funny that she even looks like her with the hair lol.
@@JamesP44 If *only* she dyed her hair blue, eh?
0:50 "No. its not a dream, we're stuck with it...." Anyone working to important deadlines will know about this...

@@benross5170 yes, but you need the earlier bit to get the whole context...
sybil fawlty, the ultimate indication that Basil is not dreaming.
I love the duck sounds!
Well, thats four ducks, is it?
First episode of fawlty i ever seen. Still one of the best
This episode Basil turned every unfortunate scenario into a total disaster
John Cleese was a pioneer of the "high status character brought crashing down to Earth" comedy trope, whether here or in Monty Python. Previously, you'd just have a bunch of unfortunate things happen to a sap, and that would be funny, but Cleese's characters were among the first to contribute to their own victimization through their pomposity and/or reactionary behavior.
if you dont like duck, you're stuck 😆
I'm off, then.
Timeless 💥 world class 💥 unsurpassed 💥
BBC back then simply the best in the world for comedy .....growing up with those 70,s shows shaped our sense of humour. Into a self defecating bunch of connoissirs 🇬🇧✌
Basil's body language is excellent
This is just ducky! It's my favorite scene in "Fawlty Towers" next to "Basil the Rat"! Thanks for posting!
I'll have the duck surprise 🦆
Oh it will be surprise alright.
*Plain duck, then.*
I love it when he says we're nearly ready to order, then gives one little twitch as the camera cuts away.
Killin me...🤣🤣
👍😂 ik heb al met elke aflevering moeten lachen
It’s a shame Basil never met that generation’s Lord Blackadder. That would’ve been a hilarious crossover.
Well now we know what would happen if
Donald Duck ran a hotel.
Funny that's what the American says about Basil in the Waldorf Salad episode.
And you are the British tourist board's answer to Donald Duck
What the American guest said in "Wardorf Salad". The thing is here Colonel Hall or his wife and others *just didn't* seem to have the same audacity to call him out on it. PS: If Donald did run an hotel, wouldn't his three nephews just be running around causing mindless troublesome mayhem? As Basil doesn't have that worry.

I love duck. Call me unstuck Mr. Faulty 🦆🍽 😋
Should have said that in the script here. 🙌
1:14 What an elegance
Comedy genuis .
Just brilliant 😄 😃
Fawlty Towers is the funniest comedy ever made!
Best comedy ever 🙂
"No, it's not a dream We're stuck with it. Right:... "
"Duck surprise"... Ya gotta love that!
Mr Twitchen!
😂
‘Am yes done of course the three extremely different ways’
John Cleese is the cheese
Been so long since I watched a full FT episode, is this the one where Basil’s car breaks down and he’s beating it with a tree twig lol.
Yes
*YES SIR!* Episode itself is called "Gourmet Night".
Duck surprise
Perhaps it’s a dream
💥💥💥
No, we’re stuck with it
Four ducks, please!
Duck with Osters Dressing
If only he’d just said that the chef had suddenly been taken ill.
Basil always makes the situation a million times worse by liying and not telling the truth . The anniversary episode is a perfect example of this lol
@@carlodonn8983 Who's more stupid, Basil or Mrs. Hall? Admire that lady's optimism, but *come on, luv.*
🎉
2:18 was both funny and scary!
Il have my Duck Crispy, Served with Pancakes, Spring Onions and Hoisin Sauce.
Watching this after eating duck, but with bones still in
Well I may have aspergers, but even I'm not as stupid as miss Fawlty. I know perfectly well what a duck is without someone illustrating it.
I have aspergers and we are not stupid
What does Colonol Hall say he’s going to order? A tornado? What is that?
Tournedos. It’s a small round steak. That confused me too.
I myself have *no clue!* Have to look that one up. Must be ultra posh and expensive anyway.
Whose in for trifle😂😂
????????
manwell(ADRIAN)
Note that the typewriter is German.
I love the show and Cleese but sometimes his irratic shouting gets really annoying
And yet they still go on, when we all know how to cook!!!!
Duck with lies or more lies!!! Just different prices!!!
Duck!
They say that at any McDonald's in the ghetto these days.
John Chleese is over the top and often looses the comedic effect.
Your opinion is wrong
