"Kurt is drunk."
Drops bottle of wine.
Irony at its finest!
I like the way Polly tries to be subtle when she informs Basil that the chef is drunk. Like a set of cryptic crossword clues.
0:53 That little noise Polly makes is extremely funny and cute! 😂
It is 0:54 get it right will you

The bit where Basil throws the duck at the chef and it hits him very hard in the midriff...that HAD to hurt..Kurt. It happened at 4:19.00457 or was it 4:19.00456, I can't remember...it was in another video.
Don't know why, but I kept clicking your time stamp repeatedly to hear that cute little girly shriek 😊
Does anybody else think that at 1:53 Polly is covering her face and largely staying out of sight of the camera because Connie Booth was trying not to crack up?
Under the ta-ble!
I love how Polly quickly spins Mrs. Twitchen around when helping her to take off her jacket, and then Mrs. Twitchen's face looks aghast... 😆😆
This clip is but an appetizer.
Basil would say 'Aperitif'......😁
It's funny how Polly said under the table
“He’s so sweet. He’s wonderful. DAMN YOU!”
Kurt was played by Steve Plytas. A very intelligent man with a wicked sense of humour.
I found it funny when Kurt changes from crying to being angry. He says, “He’s so sweet.” DAMN YOU!”
Favourite part 😂
He's revealing his feelings for Fawlty as well (he hates Fawlty).
1:47 No go away leave me alone!! *MANWELL!!!!!!*
Make that a meme please.
Manuel he doesn't love me
@@masterfarr8265 Well, You Have To Give These Things Time
Steve Plytas (Kurt) died 1994, aged 81
'Come on Kurt, come on Kurt...'
Polly should have said 'he's not a dog, Mr Fawlty!'
Suave one minute, maniacal the next--and back again.Too good.
When we watched it in class the first time my best friend started impersonating it I will never forget it I was laughing myself to death
1:19 that's it, the entire show
He has potted the shimps
1:50 MANUEL!!!!!!
1:30 OH!!!
You mean 1:31 get it right will you
1:19 best part
Imagine what it would be like if Basil told Sybil that their chef is drunk before he went straight to the kitchen! As a blooper scene.
1:38 - How did this not get a big laugh?!?
I know!!
What a time for the cook to get wasted. 🥴
Please put the bottle down. What is it? Kurt is drunk. Smash!
Classic comedy
Does anyone else see the beauty in Connie Booth . Gorgeous mature woman !
make this into a meme please:
1:49-1:51
no
Let’s get this thing viral guys
I Love MANUEL!!!
Is that Graham Stark from The Pink Panther films playing Kurt the cook? 😂
It's Steve Plytas
Basil: I knew this would happen. I knew I should never have hired a frenchman.
Polly: He's Greek, Mr Fawlty.
Basil: Greek ?
Polly: Of Course.
Basil: Well thats worst. After all, they invented it.
Me: Mr. Fawlty, are you saying Greeks invented men, who fancy other men ?
It's an old stereotype homosexuality originated in Greece.
Filip Zawistowski it’s what father ted said too !
@@filipzawistowski4390 well greece was more or less accepting. It was common until christization.
@@emperorpingusmathchannel5365 Was pretty common after too, people have loved a good bumming throughout history 🤣
😱😂😂

Well they invented it.
Governes Night Ep.

I thought the Irish invented drinking.
I think the reference to the Greeks was about something else.

@@jqames homosexuality?
You know. For the 70's. This is actually a really good portrayal off homosexuality. Granted we don't see the kiss. But no derogatory terms were used to describe kurt. No one seemed disgusted by the idea of him being gay. He isn't even overly camp like many mordern portrayals seem to keep throwing out.
I know it was decriminalised in the 60's but not many positive portrayals of homosexuality seems to predate the 90's
This did feel fairly accepting basil saying "you have to give these things time"
In reaction to manwell saying he tried to kiss me. Basil- "oh what's one little-..."
Granted basil did just want his chef to perform still.
I also have a lot of time for a gay character that doesn't just camp it up to 11.
I think it might've got something to do with Graham Chapman being gay. Having a close gay friend probably helped John Cleese a lot when writing Kurt and how the other characters reacted to him.
Are you being served was like that too, the main character was very openly gay and well-liked.
To me the joke here is that one of his employees is sexually harassing another and Basil doesn't really care - all he cares about is his dinner party being a success. Kurt could have been in love with Polly instead. But the line about Kurt being Greek is hilarious ("they invented it").
@@Ericwvb2 again. something that wasn't really considered an issue in the 70's was workplace sexual harassment. . I'm not defending kurt's action. my point if for a show made in the 70's to have a homosexual character and it not be considered a big deal is quite something,
i mean basil does frequently physically abuse his employees. so it's clearly not the best working environment. and that's the point of the joke. basil is a terrible boss.
Poor Basil ended up getting his hair on raw meat……
drunk
The actor who played Kurt died a while back, sadly.
Can tell why he married her
I want Manuel 2:00
1:37
What ? He is what what what's the wattes ?
Why does Polly hand over two empty bottles near the end of this clip?
It's kinda funny how Basil Fawlty overreacts to Kurt being gay and having a crush on Manuel by flipping the trey over.
He's not reacting to Kurt being gay, he's reacting to Kurt being hammered on the job
Tray
I don't think it was because he was gay. That was a reaction him being in love with Manuel of all the people. The way he hit the tray was the reaction of; "It's always Manuel's fault! ALWAYS!
@@HappyFunRun I thought he sent the tray flying by accident.
@@kingolo97 basil persona is entirely based on him being repressed and prejudice
