Morecambe and Wise, Two Ronnie's, Dick Emery and Parkinson.....I was 7 years old when this was first aired , if I remember correctly we had not long just had the third power cut of the weekend and christmas was looming....radio times was the must have guide....bloody hell I am old.
It always impressed me how Morecambe and Wise were able to get such big names to appear on their shows, including such luminaries as the classical conductor Andre Previn. It just shows what high regard they were held with.

I remember seeing this when it was first shown. I nearly shocked laughing. british tv at the time was in a golden age with regard comedy and this act sat at the top with the two ronnie's.
Eric was an absolute god of the comedy scene. I was born in 1973 and spent the first decade of my life watching everything I could of his. Got it all on DVD now 😁

I remember when Magnus announced his retirement .. it hit all the headlines .. Magnus was an institution!! I used to sit and watch the show .. and if i got 5 answers correct .. i was really chuffed :):):)

yeah eric had a writer for his dialogue but his improvisational skills were superb as was his timing, delivery and, like you said, facial expressions.
