When I was a Student Nurse (London Hospital, 1980s) I was as usual engaged in the uphill battle of trying to persuade patients to co-operate with their treatment when an old boy, ex soldier, told me quietly "you ought to join the Army. As a qualified Nurse you would be an Officer and they Have to obey you...".
Having served in the (American) Army and worked for decades in (American) medicine this is,along with the Spanish Inquisition and Ethel The Frog,is the best thing they ever did.
Probably have. NHS hospitals are closing. They are opening lots of Hospitals for Very Rich People Who Aren't Particularly Ill, where total cashectomies and walletectomies can be performed. See also medicine in the United States.

An effective cure for cocaine addiction is relieving the patient of their disposable cash. Bank accounts may need to be emptied. Thus the patient can "no longer afford" the coke. The addiction is cured. Works every time. I think that's how expensive private rehab clinics operate.
I once broke the lower end of my tibia... you know the point that sticks out from the foot. I didn't go to the hospital and have it put in a cast. I limped around fr 3 months and not until it had healed did I have an x-ray taken, which just confirmed it had been broken. I don't need no stinkin' cast!

Ah yes! Takes me back to my US Navy days, when I was assigned to limited duty because of a spinal tumor. Good times!

I'm American, and I still think that the BRITISH humor is the best there is! LOL!
Simpsons and seinfeld are brilliant also.
Have Rishi Sunak and/or Wes Streeting seen this? It could explain a lot.
