Diddy Kong, Funky Kong, Pauline, and Peachette feeling a little disrespected after "no new characters", but in your defense, we knew they were coming before this trailer. I will admit that I was hoping for an additional 4 characters and 2 more items to make the character selection screen and the custom items screen look cleaner (and I had 4 specific characters in mind as well, but since no additional characters are coming, I don't need to say who they are here), but as long as Wave 6 cleans up the messes Wave 5 created [namely, cleaning up how red shells and triple bananas/shells act... and for me individually, make Los Angeles 🗑, I mean Dallas Laps (renamed *again* after Nintendo refused to acknowledge the original renaming to Buffalo Laps after a 31-10 season opener last year, with *this* renaming as a result of 43-20 this past Sunday) actually tolerable (this task is much more difficult than the item cleanup, but it's not completely out of the realm of possibility)], I'll be good.
This course selection gives me Wave 3 and 4 vibes upon their respective releases, where I'm excited for all 8 on launch. While each of those waves has since had one clunker (Berlin Byways in Wave 3, Jank Jank Summit in Wave 4), they also have one of my top 5 favorite courses (Maple Treeway in Wave 3, Mario Circuit DS in Wave 4, and I may or may not have an unnatural love for Wigglers 👀). I'm expecting the same to come from the Wave 6 courses, but I don't see any way for me to be disappointed in any of them, which means Wave 6 should easily be the best wave of the Booster Pass. Closing the Booster Pass with the strongest wave can only be a good thing.
