Zoltar flies frequently. My dad isn't lazy about caring for his birds and he doesn't just have them sitting in a cage for show and tell like a parakeet. They all fly and are well cared for. His birds receive regular medical attention and are much more likely to survive in his care than in the wild. Listen to the video. He says Zoltar has been severely ill a few times and brought back to health through treatment that he would've never had in the wild.

Purportedly up to 2100 lbs per square inch at the tips of the talons (Berkut Golden Eagle).
Confirmed measurements have ranged from 450psi - 750-psi (North American Golden Eagle).
Talons capable of up to 3" of penetration. Ratcheting system in their talons do not require muscle-contraction - raptors must *decide* to let go.
Lifespan commensurate with human beings, (as much as 50 - 60 yrs of age).
Shorter lifespans attributable to human persecution. Oldest known captive female Golden Eagle was 46yrs old.
    Best,
    Jo

Very cool vid, man. Your dad seems like a very nice fellow and knows his stuff. He also takes very good care of that GE because his plumage is in pristine condition, and for a "fat bird" its demeanor is actually pretty good. He's absolutely right when he says nothing messes with the golden eagle except for man. Good stuff.

You can see one of my dad's birds flying in my video titled- "Harris Hawk In New Mexico".
As my dad mentions in this video, raptors do not eat every day. They need to digest what they've eaten which they do at home in the safety of a very large aviary that my dad monitors and maintains very well. He's standing in just one part of the aviary in this video.

The Golden Eagle has better chances of survival North of the border and in other parts of the world.
Reports say Mexico has about 200 couples Left in the country alone plus those in captivity. This is due to populace. The Golden Eagle has its legend in Aztecs from Mezoamerica culture. (great legend). You can still witness The Golden Eagle devour a full grown rattle snake today. Amazing

Great stuff, Bryan. Your dad seems like a really cool fellow and knows his stuff. The way he handled the bird slowly and carefully with lots of respect is indicative of his care and understanding of it's condition. The fact that it was "fat" and hadn't been handled for a while made him a little extra slow and careful picking Zoltar up. Great name, BTW!:) But the bird got up on his hand and showed no signs of worrisome stress. And what a healthy looking male! And I noticed how Zoltar got a bit heavy at the end there where your dad had to support his handling arm with his other arm!
But I will disagree with one thing he said (and with all due respect) and that is, while the golden eagle doesn't have any specific predatory threat to it and he's right that nothing messes with a golden eagle, there certainly are some animals of course that could take it especially if it's on the ground and too full to get airborne, which was the scenario that you guys had outlined. Naturally a black bear or any other type of bear or a mountain lion could easily overwhelm a GE should it find itself in that unfortunate position. Of course these animals don't do out of their way to "hunt" golden eagles, but they could be big threats given the right circumstances. Otherwise, great stuff and thanks for the awesome video! Cheers.

Harpy Eagles are generally larger and more powerful than Golden or even Bald Eagles. As they are adapted to hunt tropical forests their wingspan is generally smaller, but the birds themselves are heavier and stronger.

Golden Eagle is the class of Booted Eagles...these eagles are the most powerfull, hunting goats, deer, monkeys, fox and sheep... They have Stronger legs and talons. Bald Eagles legs and talons are built for catching fish, and thats mostly what bald eagles eat. Just like the Stellers Sea Eagle which is the heaviest eagle of them all...The heaviest Eagle ever on record wast a wild Golden Eagle weighing in over 12kg thats over 30 pounds, 2 times as big as the average Steller and Monkey Eagles
