    Chris, you hit a high bar with that clip. Very informative, info presented in a calm, well structured way. The picture quality and camera angles you chose were top notch, too. Once you figure out the sound issues (fine with the intermittent dub) your videos will be top of the line.
    I really enjoyed this clip even as a r&m owner who aleady knew a lot about the bike. Keep them coming!

    When He says car replacement he means it. This thing comes in at a minimum of $8099. That is firmly in the "Why-am-I-buying-this-instead-of-a-car" territory.

    The use of the term "brakelight" or "stoplight" is Finally in your vocabulary. I remember when Cort would say "Look at this, the tail light gets Brighter when the brake lever is pulled"", carefully avoiding the term. (Apparently to distance an e-bike from a scooter or moped, which have always used the proper term of brakelight.)

      The Load 75 is very similar, you just need to take turns a bit wider and it's a bit less manuverable because of this. It's not a dramatic difference at all though.

I’m not sure about the Rohlloff hub option as I’m an old school biker and I'd like to check with you on that as I live 4 hrs from you shop also I like the belt drive quite a bit and chain service take so much time but I like the smoothness I get with Rock N Roll lube.standard ebike derailleurs. a more modest box maybe and no child seats, but a rear rack. That would be a great bike for me. Will want knobby Smart Sams. Excellent job on this video. Thanks!

    Hey Chris, why hasn't other cargo bike makers have followed the front and rear suspension? Has R&M patented this particular bike frame with the suspensions? Another awesome and informative video!

    • @Propelbikes
      @Propelbikes  Před 4 lety +1

      Thanks Alika! I don’t believe this is patented, but I will say that this design as with much of R&M designs are challenging to execute on. They are true innovators and often imitated, but never duplicated as we like to say. They started the company by designing their full suspension folding bike the Birdy and this set them on the path to do continue to push the envelope. I think most companies aren’t willing to invest in the required engineering time and money into making something like this truly successful. These bikes are designed and imagined by real riders and they aren’t made just as a business opportunity, but rather a bike that they want to ride. In short, the business opportunity might not be big enough especially if a new player would need to go up against them.

    • @alikakee
      @alikakee Před 4 lety

      @@Propelbikes Thank you Chris! Well answered, I must agree. R&M has set a very high bar to follow. It would be very interesting to see if another company decided to duplicate some design aspect to their cargo line in full carbon fiber frame. Curious on how will that affect the current overall handling and longevity of the battery life. Could potentially increase a higher level ride experience...

    • @Propelbikes
      @Propelbikes  Před 4 lety +1

      This is a great question. You can run the single child seat in the middle, but there isn’t necessarily a single adult seat. Most of my passengers are adults, most commonly my videographer Tara. I think this would be great to come up with a solution for.

    By looking at the lockable highbox, it looks like the lock can just be added as an accessory on top of the box and manually lock it. I am considering the canopy option but dont want to trade the lock of the box. Will that be possible?

    • @Propelbikes
      @Propelbikes  Před 5 lety

      Thanks! Glad you liked it. The lockable top is an add on to the high sidewalls. The trouble is the top is bolted on so it’s not so easy to use those two together. I can see if that is possible and get back to you.

    I am uncertain if this has already been mentioned, but how does this bike (or this category of bikes) do on uphill torque / capability, as well as downhill handling / safety? The crux of my wife's work commute is a BIG hill. Thanks. Well done on the vids!

    • @Propelbikes
      @Propelbikes  Před 4 lety +2

      Thanks John! Uphill power is not problem, the big thing to remember is you effectively have a transmission paired to a powerful center motor. When you shift to the low gear the motor uses that gear as well as the rider.
      For safety I don’t believe there is a cargo bike that compares, namely due to the full suspension. This keeps the tires on the road no matter the terrain.
      I use this bike regularly with my videographer Tara in the front and we’ve even taken it off-road at times with her upfront filming.

    • @Propelbikes
      @Propelbikes  Před 4 lety +2

      You got it! Climbing would be a bit better on this bike due to the slightly higher assist level on the new motors. You could also opt for a Rohloff hub and get a very low gear for climbing, but you shouldn’t find that necessary. Great review thanks Chris. One thing I haven't been able to find is the length measurement for this bike - I figure to transport this, you'd probably need a trailer - how long is the Load 60?

    • @Propelbikes
      @Propelbikes  Před 4 lety

      Thanks! The length of the Load 60 is 97” so you probably would need a trailer. Technically it’s possible to separate the front of the bike from the back, but it’s not something you would want to do often. There is a company called ATOC that makes a product called the Draftmaster. The Draftmaster isn’t currently rated for a bike this weight, but they have been working on something. If you’re really ambitious you can put it on the top of a wagon or SUV. I’ve done it before. There are roof racks for tandems which make this easier, but still not easy.

Are these gear shifters comparable in shifting speed, reactivity and performance of the bike, because I tried the 2020 HS with the vario and I was super desapointed. There was no reactivity, did not feel any performance update of the 4th Gen bosch cargo speed compared to mine. So I hope the rohloff changes that. Thanks a lot, and like always amazing videos!

    • @Propelbikes
      @Propelbikes  Před 4 lety +2

      The motor needs to be reprogrammed to the non-cargo speed version. It will make a major difference and you will see much better performance. The cargo line is great for heavy loads but not so ideal for lighter loads as it will lack power if not under load. The Rohloff will have similar performance to the touring, but you’ll have more top end power than the 2019 version.

    Which is better btw? The rohloff or nuvinci?
    I’ve talked to the local vendor of RM bikes, he’s not keen on the idea of servicing a bike with Rohlof or Nuvinci gears. So he’s not offering to order RM bikes with those systems. He prefers the Touring option which from my point of view requires more maintance, eventhough parts are more readily available.

    • @Propelbikes

      Both the Enviolo and the Rohloff use the belt. I would recommend riding a bike with both of those systems even if it’s not a load. They are very different in the performance and the ride experience. The Enviolo is very user friendly, where the Rohloff has a little bit of a steeper learning curve. The Rohloff is has a wider gear range and it’s more efficient than the Enviolo, but they are both great low maintenance options.

      The N380 is very similar, but a slightly larger range of gears and the shifter works manually instead of automatically.
      The Rohloff hub is also a manual shift, but it’s electronic and it’s indexed meaning there are individual gears whereas the NuVinci (now called Enviolo) is a CVT and the gear range is shifted without breaks, it’s more like a volume dial compared to a channel clicker on the Rohloff.

      The Load 60 starts at around $8,000, but it can go up from there depending on the options you select. Most people that want a car replacement won’t want to skimp on specs. I know I don’t want to, especially if they offer me additional utility, safety or performance.

    Oops “up to 200 lbs capacity”? Not 200 kg? If it’s 200 kg maybe edit the video and throw in a “200 kg” image at the place where you say 200 lbs

      Mike Tomlin they sure do look high quality but it still seems overpriced. Doesn’t mean I don’t like it. I was very close to buying one
