  • www.newwheel.net/load Front-loaders are not new, but we've been waiting for the right one to come along. Low & behold, Riese & Müller offers up a full suspension front-loader in two lengths - the two-kid capable Load 60 and the three-kid ready Load 75. Full suspension on the Load isn't (just) about bombing down hills-it's really about increasing control and comfort as you tackle all sorts of roads in the varied urban landscape. Shot in Marin County, California.

    Great video. Although you did not talk about the Nuvinci Hub. I've had my Load 60 since January. Mine has belt drive and nuvinci hub. I love this bike. I have barely driven the car since buying it. My dog loves it too. We go to obedience classes and down the lake regularly for walks. I love the looks we get as we ride by. People seeing a Sheltie up the front of a Load 60 can't help but smile.

    Most probably one of the best if not THE BEST bike review channel on YT... - funny yet informative, focused yet not boring - catching the attention from the beginning - really well done! hope you will continue - my only regret is the distance between you Guys and me - I would love to bring my Family (2+3+D) and test drive some of your stuff - for my commute Specialized Vado SL and for family such nice R&M Load (I think 75 would do the job :)). all the best - greetings from Germany!

    Well, your shop is located in the perfect location for a shop that sells the " mercedes " of cargo bikes. Larkspur Landing/ San Rafael is one of those rare areas where the people are " green"
    and rich.

    Great video! As far as riding a large and heavy cargo bike, which could be made even heavier with a large load or children riding in it, is it very practical or even possible to cruise on flat ground at 28 mph, and how does that feel to be moving that kind of mass through time and space?

    • @TheWatcherInTheTower
      @TheWatcherInTheTower Před 4 lety +1

      This bike gets smoother to ride when you put a heavy load in it! I rode a 50kg printer 8km to the recycling depot. Sadly I don't have the HS model ( Australia :-( ) but I was able to easily cruise at 26 kph on the flat.

    • @thenewwheel
      @thenewwheel  Před 4 lety

      You can definitely keep this bike up at 28mph with the new Bosch speed drive. It’s quite a remarkable ride.

    Two questions: can you swap the children box for the transport box, once the children have outgrown it?
    IIRC there should be an option also on suspension/shock absorber type, isn't it?

    • @thenewwheel
      @thenewwheel  Před 4 lety +1

      Yes you can. The suspension is a sensible setup for what this bike is, but you could always install something different.

    Really good review and video overall.
    Now... if you would need to choose between 60 or 75, what would you recommend?
    Afaik, the 75 rides just / similar as the 60, but with nearly 50% more cargo volume.
    Would you say this is a no-brainer and recommend the 75, or are there other factors you would call out?!
    Last but not least, you reco on the shifting... Rohloff definitely an awesome setup, but also expensive. Would you say it's worth the money compared to the Enviolo?

      I bought an L60, after some debate, and after borrowing an L75 for a few weeks.
      I would say that the L75 is slightly less “twitchy” (sporty) than than the L60. That is a benefit of the longer wheelbase, but the trade-off is that you have to plan your turns on the L75, more carefully.
      The longer cargo box on the L75 is more convenient when you are transporting a folding bike, or say a 1.25 m tall child. However, when you do have to muscle the bike over/around problematic infrastructure, the L60 is easier to manage.

      @kolaajibade8846 Před 3 lety

      I chose Enviolo gearing for my L60 as I do not live in a mountainous region. Also because I liked that system on the Urban Arrow Family bike that I had for the four years preceding the switch to R&M.

    Nice coverage of the fantastic R&M Loads! I noticed that there was a mud flap or splash guard mounted to the footwell on the Load 60. Is that standard equipment or a custom add-on? The colour options look great, but that Sunset frame seems red in some shots and orange in others. What does it look like in person? Great footage of the suspension in action!

      Hi Arne. From what I can remember my 2020 Load 60 does have a factory fitted splashguard on the optional footwell/glove box. The bike is apart from me right now because of lockdown. It’s an awesome bike. Loads of fun and super practical and super smooth to ride. I got the Vario and Dual Battery. It’s a big and heavy bike - if I was to buy over again I would definitely find the extra cash for the Rohloff to help up those steep hills... of course the Touring option (chain) would have lower gearing too.

    • @thenewwheel
      @thenewwheel  Před 4 lety +1

      We love the sunset color. It’s a bit more orange I would say than dark red. Hard to describe.

    • @arnesoderstrom
      @arnesoderstrom Před 4 lety

      @Mike Owen thanks for sharing, I love the idea so that splash guard. Not only would it be handy for keeping road spray and grit off one’s feet and motor, but it might also give a heads-up before the glovebox/footwell strikes anything. Sounds like you’ve got a pretty awesome ride! I definitely agree with your thoughts on the Rohloff.

      @arnesoderstrom Před 4 lety

      @The New Wheel, thanks for clearing that up. I’m guessing that it’s one of those things I’ll just have to see in person to fully appreciate, both in direct sunlight and in the shade. Looks quite fetching either way. That said, the grey is also very well done. R&M have come up with an unusually subtle and tasteful palette.

    • @thenewwheel
      @thenewwheel  Před 4 lety

      I am just under 5' and around your same weight. There is a bit of learning curve at first, but the bike is totally manageable with our weight and size. There is no other front loader like it for us!

      @@isaiahjberg Depreciation. What do you think the depreciation is on this bike dude? Not to mention the car you will still need for longer trips. I'm all about the possibility fo e-bikes. However, at this price point you could grab a fully enclosed pedal assist ride or an electric car. Unless money is no object or you're a professional mountain e bike rider (though i'm not sure such a thing exists) It's just to much for a Bicycle.
