Do we know about the FULL song Bharoto Bhagyo Bidhata - from which our National Anthem is extracted from???? What was Netaji Bose's role in selecting the National Anthem that we all love .... ????
    Here is what the text books missed out.....

      I am from Bangladesh. We love our national anthem AMAR SHONAR BANGLA, Religion is personal matter. Concept of national religion is a false concept. Our forefathers fought against Islamic republic of Pakistan to become Peoples Republic of Bangladesh for a reason, We love our poet Rabindra Nath Thakur and Rebel poet Kazi Nazrul Islam, I the son of Muslim will protect my poets of any religion, their poem and my national anthem, We dream of a secular progressive Bangladesh and south Asia. There are forces who want to divide us all the time because divide and rule mixed with hate is their business to sell more arms and make profit from blood money, We must work together for a better south Asia. Do you know that we had more capabilities than Japan, Singapore, Korea, China, when we became independent all these countries and India were at the same level (not exactly accurate), poverty, hunger, filth, diseases, But now see how much difference has happened, we use our potential to fight each other for something which does not lead to any development and they use their potential to develop their country.

    This is the first time I've truly understood the national anthem. As a kid we were never taught about the full version and somewhere down the line while repeatedly singing it like a parrot during every single morning assembly diluted the true essense of the song and it became more of a routine. I wish there were regular sessions teaching the true meaning of the song as not everyone could understand it back then.
    Gem of an episode Akash. Definitely one of your very best.

The British Gurkhas fought against the Azad Hind Fauz army. Netaji had given word to General Tojo in Tokyo that Indians would support the Imperial army. India is the only Allied country where the Japanese army didn't slaughter the locals(Nagaland, Manipur) due to the pact. BUT, Gurkha helped the British to fight the Japanese in NE and Burma.

    As a citizen of India, my National Anthem is my pride. As a bengali, the fact that Tagore, reverently known as 'Gurudev' thought about the country, as a whole, inspires me, personally, to do the same. And I'm happy to say, I do that. Hearing this composition makes me emotional. It also gives me hope that one day, the 'Nidrito Bharata' will wake up. Sooner than we hope. Mr. Banerjee, grateful to you for the work that you are doing. People like you are true successors to the great people who have been born in our country. Thank you. Truly.

      Exactly. Srijit Mukherjee's film Rajkahani (Begum Jaan - Hindi Adaptation) has the best online version of the song - czcams.com/video/5NIh2iUmTcc/video.htmlsi=Zk95UDxOjl7BeGey. It is really painful to see 90% of Indians don't know the entire song.
      Had the country been taught this song early on with passion and vigour none would buy into a communal propaganda - The spirit of India lies entirely in this song. It pains me nowadays to see people forget the ideals that the likes of Netaji, Baghajatin, Bhagat Singh gave up there lives for and concentrate on the very division politics that British instilled into us.
      Jai He - Jai Hind!

      The great Rabindranath Tagore thought of the situation when nationalism will be sold for personal or political benefits. This is why in 1913, Tagore wrote a book on "Nationalism" and said "i will never allow nationalism over humanity". Exactly this has happened in the last 10 years when BJP or many celebrities are selling nationalism for personal benefits 😮

    Gurudev expresses the same sentiments in his English poem:
    Where the mind is without fear and the head is held high;
    Where knowledge is free;
    Where the world has not been broken up into fragments by narrow domestic walls;
    Where words come out from the depth of truth;
    Where tireless striving stretches its arms towards perfection;
    Where the clear stream of reason has not lost its way into the dreary desert sand of dead habit;
    Where the mind is led forward by thee into ever-widening thought and action
    Into that heaven of freedom, my Father, let my country awake.
    What has happened in reality is completely the opposite.
    The mind (for minorities in North India in particular) is filled with fear and their heads are bowed;
    Knowledge is extremely expensive with the privatization of education;
    The country has completely been broken up into fragments by narrow religious and caste walls;
    Where words have no truth in them and are just jumlas;
    Where we constantly take shortcuts and do jugad with an attitude that sub-standard is completely acceptable;
    Where we have completely lost reasoning and scientific temper and have fallen prey to the dreary desert sand of dead habit;
    Where the mind is going backwards into time and our actions are getting narrower by the day driven by self preservation;
    Every day we wake up to more news of how freedom of speech and expression is being curtailed and how dissent is being silenced.

    Bose, Tagore and Nehru were giants of that era. All of them had different opinions on varying subjects but still they had highly progressive views.
    Of these I respect Nehru the most. His views were really way ahead of time. His modernist view helped India become a Modern Nation.
    I would urge people to read Nehru himself especially his Autobiography, which was Praised by Tagore too.
    Read Tagore's "Nationalism" And Bose's "The Indian Struggle". All these books show differing yet highly intellectual views of intellectuals of that era.

    This is one of the best episode from this channel. Got goosebumps every time verses from the extended part of the entire song were played. Thank you so much for this content.
    Indeed ignites the fire of hope in this dark distressing time when we are witnessing an unwanted change in terms of nationalism, which is forced and twisted, based on religious fundamentalism and discrimination, getting displayed in public in a grotesque manner.
    May we have true "Achhe din" in future and be a part of a free nation shaped around the ideologies visualised by freedom fighters of India who struggled and sacrificed so much for our freedom.

    As a Bengali from Bangladesh, I know almost everything you said. Still, my love for Rabindranath compelled me listen to you again. In Bangladesh, we love Rabindranath as the epitome of Bengali refinement . Most of the Rabindra Sangeet is written in Bangladesh.
    I don't know how the posterity will love Rabindranath in India. But as long as Bangladesh exists, Rabindranath will remain as the most inspiring, beloved poet and philosopher. Joy Bangladesh.
