Next would be turning up the MAX FUEL adjustment on the pump to make use of that extra air and thus more power. Only air is initially introduced into the combustion chamber in a diesel engine. The air is then compressed with a compression ratio typically between 15:1 and 22:1, resulting in compression pressures typically from 300-500 psi compared to 120-200 psi in a gasoline engine.
      The problem is the piston rings cant hold the pressure they are pushing.Add a Turbo and you PSI has gone up past 500..
      I would be real curious to see a See through oil pan on this.. That escaped pressure is going somewhere.. I bet the oil is full of bubbles and air which caused it too over heat..

      @Dymitr_Nawrocki Před rokem +11

      @@soulwarrior7721 They added more piston rings to each piston, also diesel piston rings are not very different from gas engine piston rings. The engine probably has heat problems because combustion chamber is not designed like in a diesel engine wich causes diesel fuel to not ignite and burn fully at the right moment, this causes engine to run ovwerly rich wich in case of diesel leads to much higher combistion temps.

    • @usanaluoma
      @usanaluoma Před rokem

      @@volvo09 Thats not how it works. The fuel is limited by injector pump and injector nozzle size. The more air you can pump into it the more power you can make assuming your injector and pump can match it. Pre or after coolers (cooling the air either before or after the turbo enable you to make a denser charge because cold air is denser and you can cram more into the same space and also keep your EGT's lower. None of this matters unless you have a high compression ration to compress the air enough to burn the fuel being injected. This engine would only benefit from higher compression to make better power. Thats why its so smoky because the fuel charge is not fully burning.

    Here in Argentina during the 1980s, when a liter of gasoline cost several times more than a liter of diesel, Ford six-cylinder 221-cubic-inch engines were modified to a direct-injection diesel cycle with moderately satisfactory results. A Bosch linear injection pump was installed, the combustion chambers were filled with welding, the camshaft was modified and diesel pistons and a damper were mounted. These engines were limited to 3,000 rpm to minimize torsional vibrations and preserve the crankshaft integrity. The ignition of these "Frankenstein" engines was quite good and they emitted the normal fumes of an old diesel. These engines weren't for playing around, they had to work well and last for many kilometers and that's how it was!

    Tuve un ford falcon motor 6 cilindros 3.6 litros, al que convertimos de nafta a diesel! Se cambiaron los pistones por unos con domo para mas compresion,pusieron una bomba inyectora de motor indenor 6 cilindros, accionada con una correa de distribucion de fiat 128, se modifico la polea del cigueñal para esa correa,se saco el carburador y se puso una torre y donde iban las bujias se adaptaron inyectores! Asi andubo desde 1987 hasta el 2004 cuando lo volvieron a hacer naftero! Miles de kilometros recorrio asi!

    Great job. Few things ive noticed though.
    The enrichment for the turbo on the pump is capped, theres a capped line on the cold side of the turbo they could be joined. This will make a big difference
    And the compression is low, hence the smoke
    Damn good job tho 👏

    Thanks for sharing I am sure you will give many people ideas for their own experiment
    Sometimes just for fun Sometimes for serious new constructions
    Someone said that an Ethanol engine will run best with very high compression pressure
    Someone made a diesel engine, a high compression engine with some kind of simple spark ignition from the injectors to run very good on biogas
    How do we make the perfect woodgas engine?
    Some years ago i tested to run an old diesel engine on wood pyrolysis oil in a mix of ethanol and biodiesel it ran perfect Just a nice smell of forest from the exhaust
    Of course i run it on normal diesel to clean the pump Just an experiment for fun about 30 min Best wishes for more crazy, meaningful experiments

    Maybe the turbo is too big for this engine, it isn't spooling fast enough to create boost. As it's a small very low power engine, you need a very small turbo.

  • @psyolent.
    @psyolent. Před rokem +10

    Was your wastegate stuck open on the turbo? Also turbos love to breath and that pea shooter exhaust was pretty small. I’d check to see if you were getting no boost due to the gate being open.

      @@user-ktyjnfo sure it will be , but i try to imagine how will they create ports in cylinders , they will have to drill through the water jacket in engine body..
      Head will not be a problem to make
      I just cant find the way to ask them about this....
      I think in this case car will be faster , but not to much, without the 4t momentum..and takes more fuel ..
      Everything almost need to be changed..
      Pistons travel, and gear ratio and so on...

  • @svytorioalus
    @svytorioalus Před rokem +1

    Good job. There is one think u can do to increase compresion . Make intake valve gaps 0.7mm that will give u another 2 bar of compresion. Turbo boost is low because combustion is not working the way it should (cold diesel burning white smoke) desel engines can run on that low comptesion ratios as low as 14:1 but that would need something like 1500bar electronic injectors . Does lada cylinder hrad have a good spot from a top to drill in to it so u can use direct injection injectors . Something like 1.9 tdi of passat audi golf . Two stage injectors. Then glow plugs in to spark plug holes. Good luck.

    Not bad at all for a converted engine. I have a feeling you can increase the boost of the turbo to around 0.7-0.8 bar and still have a fairly safe operation.
