I will never understand how Pat McGrath and Natasha Denona have normalized $130, $150 eyeshadow palettes. I remember when people considered Naked palette's highend at $54, but now they're midrange? I just can't wrap my head around it
They're luxury brands, and they aren't meant to be for everyone, it's as simple as that. I can't afford a Lamborghini, but I'm not going to complain because I'm not (sadly) their target audience. It doesn't apply to all brands.
I don't think ND or PML are the one to blame, at least not entirely. Long before them we had luxury brands like Dior, YSL or Chanel releasing palettes in similar prices, just smaller. 60-70$ for one small quad is, in fact, much more expensive than ND's big palette for 129$.
UD was always considered mid-range. That hasn't changed. Brands like Natasha Denona and Viseart were previously almost entirely marketed to makeup artists. CZcams helped change people's perception and priorities towards makeup spending. Nobody really "collected" makeup, before then.
You don't have to do it. That's okay. We all have different priorities and spending ability.
I've said this for years. Bottom line it's aspirational luxury because their formula which everyone raves about isn't better than every other brand. People want to feel wealthy and as a result justify by saying oh it's luxury. It's eyeshadow, plain and simple. If you took the worst WNW formula and put it in a PMG packaging, the masses would rave about it. It's marketing to the masses since it makes them feel special.
I don't think it is normalized. There's luxury when it comes to a lot of things, and it's not for everyone. I can't buy a million dollar mansion or Hermès Birkin bag, but I'm not who they're trying to target either. There's absolutely nothing wrong buying drugstore-priced makeup if that's what you like or can afford. I have a good mix of cheap to luxury makeup but I don't feel the need to "keep up with Joneses". I buy what I feel is worth it to me.
“If paying luxury prices, you should get the luxury experience.” YES! 🙌🏻 If I’m paying PMG prices, you shouldn’t have to wait 2 weeks to get the items sent out and definitely shouldn’t get a palette that has scratches on it! You have EVERY RIGHT TO BE “A LITTLE NAGGY” (really, you have every right to be A LOT NAGGY) at those prices!! Unacceptable!
Well, between Christmas and New Years the east coast had a surge of the Covid cooties. And NY was hit first then it spread south from there. I have never had an issue when ordering directly from the PMG website, but if the warehouse workers got sick at the same time (like everyone else in my office), then I can understand the delay. I get your point as well because I had to deal with the same rachet customers that couldn't grasp what being short staffed meant. Ugh, it was the worst January ever.
You asked for my favorite book and I would say Gregory and then Francesca. I shocked my students this week when I told them I read them all in about a week, one a day. They took about 4 hours each 😍. I love hearing you talk about the series because I don't have anyone to talk about them with!

PMG is apparently notorious for taking forever to get purchases out to their customers. I remember Theresa Is Dead talking about it whenever she gets something from PMG when she was in NYC. I’ve had palettes from other brands take up to 20+ days get to me due to COVID. Mail/shipping anything has been a slight nightmare since COVID started over here (I moved from NY to SC and it’s been extra hairy ensuring all our Mail has been coming lol)- but I totally get what you’re saying!! Lux prices deserve lux services.
It took 24 days for my last package to even be processed. And then another 11 for it to arrive. The longest shipping/processing time ever. That never happens with any other brand (I ordered from CT, LE, VB, Sephora, and Dior at the same time - all arrived within days).
I must be old, waiting 20 days does not seem like such a long time, I am from the time when there was no internet and when you ordered something from afar it was anywhere from 2-8 weeks for delivery. BUT thats just delivery, not the company taking eons to ship. I wait a up to a month for Colorpop. I am in Northern BC Canada sooo I expect it. PM is overrated, I own nothing from the line and nothing grabs my attention.

I actually have no problems waiting a while for the packages to arrive (unless I’ve paid for the express option), especially during the holidays and the pandemic. However, 3+ weeks for just processing the order? That’s unacceptable, in my opinion.
@@shandel499 to me, its not that it takes long, it's that it takes longER than even other indie brands who also are better in terms of communicating with customers. Comparatively, the PML experience doesn't uphold the 3x-the-other-brands price tag.

I bought the eyeshadow palette just the other day and it shipped super fast. So, I think that you’re right, she wasn’t ready to ship this collection on launch date. Sure, the number of orders might’ve been crazy, but they should’ve been better prepared for that.
I ordered a lipstick last year, it wasn't even a new one or anything. It still took them over a month to ship it to me...
She is never ready and neither is her website. For what she charges she needs to get her shit together and invest in better tech.
I ordered mine for the first launch I'm still waiting for it. when it comes to international costumer they are super slow and it doesnt make any sense cause they are so expensive. also I don't have this issue with CT they are super fast.
I order from PM allll the time & I have never had a problem with her shipping. Maybe I get lucky, but I have heard a lot of complaints with her shipping.

I'm still on my PMG strike since I had a terrible experience with their customer service. There are so many other beautiful high quality makeup with gorgeous packaging out there like Zeesea or Florasis that deserves my money.

Personally this collection draws me because I love the Bridgerton books and Netflix show, but the price definitely throws me the opposite direction. I hate to say it but I kinda wish Colourpop would pick up a Bridgerton contract. Then I could get something without hurting my pocketbook, lol.
Honestly, this would be so cool. Maybe for season 3 once this contract with PMG expires.
Well star wars worked with PMG and Colourpop so it's not out of the realm of possibility... I love Bridgerton too but this is too pricey for me
My favorite book was the novella at the end, The Bridgertons: Happily Ever After. I just love extended epilogues that let you see where everyone ended up.
I bought a Mothership palette and I the flaky “special” shades reacted with my eyelids and caused me some bad dermatitis for awhile. People with sensitive skin should be cautious. I’ve never before had an allergic reaction to eyeshadow, so it made me go Hmmmmm.
Oh, no! That sucks so much because to me, those special shades do makes her price points worth it, but they are chunky and I can see people who have sensitive eyes not doing well with them. If you are still wanting some sparkly goodness, GlamSHOP's Kaszmir palette has a very sparkly shade (Plecionka) that rivals my PMG glitters and it isn't as gritty in the pan.
Me too! I just received my holiday celestial palette from Black Friday & was so excited I sat down for an hour and swatched on my arm then did a few eye looks playing with the colours, in two hours my eyes were burning red raw and looked like I’d been punched but hadn’t turned to a bruise.
Every mild cream I used to soothe it hurt, even now three days later I still have red dry scaly eyes and I thought it was just because I did two looks on each eye and dried my eyes with a tissue. Thank you for commenting I had never heard that before and now I’ll try one shade at a time to work out the problems one for me.
if a fleck falls into my eye I can feel it. I don't think the special shades are eye safe - they feel gritty

This palette is very pretty, but I talked myself out of it because I already own all of those shades. If I'm gonna buy a whole new palette vs singles it's going to have to have a color story that knocks my socks off. Of course I'm still watching reviews for it lol I like seeing the different looks everyone comes up with.
I bought the collection at launch, despite the fact that the last big brand collab she did (Star Wars) left a bad taste in my mouth. Then I saw Theresa from Theresa is Dead review it and I started to feel turned off. It took forever to get here and when I checked their return policy it said it was 30 days from date of PURCHASE, and it took so long to get to me that I wouldn't have time to decide if I liked it or not before I'd have to return it. All the reviews I could find were from Pat McGrath fangirls so I didn't feel comfortable trusting them. What it finally came down to was it being $200+ for the whole collection and I didn't think I was going to enjoy it $200+ worth when half of what drew me in was the packaging, and I didn't like the packaging as much in person. I finally decided to return it all untried to save myself an expensive disappointment. I hope people who got it enjoy it but I decided it wasn't for me.
Setting the return deadline based on date of purchase is shady af, especially from a luxury brand. The delays might be due to the panini situation but that's been going on long enough for PML to change their policy. At the very least it should be from date of shipping out, which is still questionable but I get that it's easier to trace than when it gets delivered to each and every customer.
I actually cannot live without my glitter glue. I use it in every single look to really intensify my shimmers on the lid

Pat McGrath has an artistry wand she sells and it works great with her special shades.
Have to agree on the shipping - I also got mine super late and when I reached out to customer service about it, it was not a great response back. I literally had to reach out three separate times before getting a reply. Seemed like a pre sale. They definitely need to work on it in 2022.

@@swedishmake-upgeek5650 when I had to contact customer services about a missing blush it was sorted in under an hour and they sent me a free full size mascara with the blush as an apology. I kind of expected them to just refund it because of shipping vosts so I was impressed with the service. So I wonder if they get fed up of people asking where their orders are! Once my order is shipped it only takes 4 days to get to me in the UK and that's going through customs as well, so how come it takes a week to get to Angie within the US? It's very strange. I have had some things ship immediately even in the sale and some things take a long time. The first time I bought from Pat McGrath was last year during Black Friday and then I ended up placing a few orders as her sales are amazing. So knowing about the sales and the shipping issue I don't think I would buy from her as soon as something is launched but wait for it. The restock of this collection didn't sell out right away, I kept getting emails about it offering a 10% discount already.
I've just ordered something from Pat McGrath from Selfridges because I just cannot with Pat's fulfillment. It leaves a lot to be desired for a luxe brand, it is not a luxe experience. Everyone seems to wait ages and neither Pat nor her team even acknowledge the issue of how long the dispatch takes. It's like mother is so amazing we should just put up with it. I don't get it, no other brand would deem it acceptable
Sure, but if you are not from UK/US (maybe EU, I do not know for sure), try returning something to the retailer mentioned. No chance, and I am not even talking makeup (because that I would not try and could understand), but exchanging clothes sizes. Plain clothes sizes, nothing fancy/ excluded.
Not happening for me ever at Selfridges. So, at least Pat is not earning on discrimination. I am not in a such a hurry for an eyeshadow palette to overlook credibility and decency and PMG has that… Not a small thing in this greedy world, so I would think twice who I trash and why.

My point was that I have in the recent time experienced so much hideous service online that I cannot believe it, being denied most basic customers right, so PMG seamed just late, not ever unfair. Of course for that kind of money they should be on time, lovey and all that goes with the experience.🎉🎉🎉 They should!
But than there are the some really good companies out there, we never mention them, but I would go wayyy out of the topic by naming them.

I've ordered from the Pat McGrath website twice, and both times it took almost two weeks to ship out. Unless it's something that I can't get elsewhere, or there is some sort of crazy sale, I wait until it hits Sephora to order it. I'm not sure why Pat McGrath gets so many passes for poor customer experience - a lot of other brands would be getting roasted for this!
I ordered the blush from the 2nd round on her website and it shipped already, so I think you are right about the preorder. I also wish I knew it was going to Sephora because I would rather have points.

I LOVE Bridgerton and loved this collection as well. I’ve read all of Julia Quinn and I agree the show is definitely going different! I am so excited for the new season in March!! I think season 2 the main love story will still be Anthony and I hope they end it with the masquerade ball to introduce Benedict’s story(my fav!). I think the beginning of Francesca’s story will need to occur Season 2 or Season 3. But because I haven’t seen much on casting I am not sure. I think there will definitely be some siblings overlapped love stories in Season 3 and 4!
I ahve to say these blushes and highlighter are BOMB. I cannot even tell what are therese shifts in this highlighter, just looks perfection goddess on you!
I ordered 3 items from pat McGrath on black Friday, they all took a minimum or 14 days to ship. 1 of my orders was entirely lost and eventually refunded. Their shipping is a disaster.

I live in Texas too and I was watching everyone's order/ review come in almost a week before I got my palettes. Even those that ordered out of the country received theirs before me and I ordered mine within the first hour of launch day! Everytime I order from her site it takes forever to receive product and I have pretty much everything she has come out with. The ONLY reason I keep ordering from her site is because she has really good sales 30-35% off. If it weren't for that I wouldn't order from her site, I get faster shipping from Sephora... and I'm tired of Covid or what's happening in the country being used as an excuse cuz other companies I buy from I'm am receiving with in a few days.Even before Covid it took forever to receive her product.

Love this look! 💚 I've ordered from the Pat McGrath website & it did take a little longer to arrive but I've never had marks or anything on any products. I ordered 3 of the makeup geek brushes the other day (2 of them being the ones you used) on a whim & I'm really glad to hear they're good quality!
I love my PM divine rose 2 pallet. I always do my eyes first just because of the glitter fall out. I use mehron mixing liquid in a spray bottle to get it to stay in place. I tap a bit on my lid and while it is still wet i tap on the shade with my finger the put a little on a flat brush and spritz it with a little mehron and tap over top. Let it dry and it does not move. You can also mix the pigment withthe liquid and paint that on. Helps with minimizing fall out and keeping things in place all day.

I agree! The wait to get this collection was very long. Plus, I was disappointed because they really messed up my order. I got two full collections (one for myself and one to gift) but they left out the blush palette and one of the highlighters, but they gave me three of the eyeshadow palettes. I will say their customer service was very nice, but it took forever and I still haven’t received my replacement items.
When you charge such prices for your items we don't expect quality product but quality service as well

PMG took FOREVER to send out my package with the Mothership IX palette. It took three weeks and that's something that has been in stock. But, it is beautiful :)

You are so spot on, especially about the "special" blue shade! The fallout is completely unreasonable. I was howling how you said it will be on your dog, on your man, and in your casket when you die!🤣 For the price I was expecting a light blue duochrome that went on easily but it's a huge let down for me.
The second season is about Anthony! I have to say my favourite book is Colin's.
I love Pat’s “special shades” but you are right, they get everywhere! It never fails that a speck gets in my eye at some point and I wear contacts…. 😭 I still use them though. 😂

You should try the special shades wet, like not wet as in spray them with setting spray, but wet with water almost like watercolor paints.
Hannah Louise Poston said in a video that they are made to be able to be used like that and since I’ve been doing that there is almost no fallout.

I was going to buy the palette but realized I only wanted the pretty astral blue shade. I have 5 motherships so besides the blue, I literally have everything else. So, I brought a dupe for it instead 🤷🏽♀️ instead of paying $65 for one shade, I paid $9 + $6 for shipping instead. Way better deal

I finally recieved my eye palette a few days ago after ordering it an entire month ago! Not only was I double charged for this palette, it sat around for 17 days before the information was even passed on to shipping! There is no excuse for this, especially with what I was put through originally with trying to get my money refunded. After I had sent my second email after all shipping details were erased, the palette miraculously turned up the next day. I couldn't care less about this purchase by now and regretted ordering it. I haven't even tried it on and put it straightaway into my collection. I'd like to know why the sizes of the shadows were so much smaller with only cardboard inside instead of plastic? It shouldn't take a whole month to send one little underwhelming palette from New Jersey to Australia! It was bad enough when I ordered the Celestial Odyssey Palette back in November which took five weeks to arrive. Again, after I complained to the courier, my palette arrived the very next day. My questions about why such lengthy delays have remained unanswered. If I could have ordered from anywhere else, I most definitely would have. I recently made an order from overseas from a well known Couture Company and received my order in only two weeks. With the prices PML's charges, I expect much better service than this. An absolute disgrace!!!🇦🇺😡
Live in Denmark, and I still haven’t gotten mine. I had to email them 10th Jan. And three days after I got the tracking number and it was still in the warehouse.

I loved the first season, but haven't read the books. I purchased the first one on my kindle. Thanks for convincing me i definitely need to read them! Not that i would have bought it either way because pmg prices are above my current budget... but i wish there were more blues in this collection, to match daphne's dresses she wore the entire season. Even if it had just been a really pale baby blue to a nice mid tone dusty blue would have been more bridgerton to me.
Yessss agreed! There needs 2 be more blue because the blue special shade is almost not blue it’s very silvery. It’s beautiful but I was a bit disappointed.

Mine shipped quickly, already two days after I made my order but I only bought the blush palette. I heard somewhere it was the individual highlighters that caused the delay but I am not sure if that is true.
I couldn't help but say I'm in Australia and placed my PMG order for a portion of this collection on the 27th of Dec, got shipment notification on the 14th of Jan 😁..and only just saw an update last evening that my package was scanned at the US processing facility 😂 i'm shedding tears now in anticipation that it may take another month or more for it to get to me..😅🤪 by then everyone i watch here would be over the collection lolzzz!!! Anyhow, you created a beautiful Look, the colours look pretty on you as always!! 🥰

Had to buy this palette after you did a demo…. From Sephora as PML shipping SUCKS !!! These colors look stunning on you and we have a similar skin tone ,) PML fall out is REAL though and sure this will sit like most palettes I purchase from her other than the mattes due to the mass fall out as I can’t do my eyes first… The Heather Austin that just dropped the palette that girl hmm ? Have fun….. I have been wanting to try the VIEVE half lashes and you reminded me they have been on my to buy list, and the rare beauty bronzer sticks I have seen many tutotialists recommend them…. I must try and will apply it before my foundation and was not a fan of the CT bronzer stick it’s just not for me but hoping the rare beauty ones will work better for me ,)

I've ordered from Pat's website a few times already since she has some good discounts and it's always free shipping for anything you buy unlike with Natasha Denona. The website also changes the currency automatically everytime. I don't mind how long it ships since everything that doesn't come from Canada tends to ship for a while anyway. Especially Korean websites (when I used to buy my skincare in korean websites). For me, the fact that it's free shipping is good enough for me 🤷🏻♀️ I just forget about it then I anticipate once they start shipping! Though I must say, Glamshop was fast shipping albeit I had to pay for shipping xO
I also had problems with the shipping before, but never like the last time I ordered with them (for the lipstick & gloss sale). It took forever. It’s unacceptable. I will not buy from their website anymore even with a good offer. Of course I love her eyeshadows, but that makes me think more carefully about our relationship. I mean, the spell is broken 😞!!
yeah, I heard that they only had the blush palette in stock during release, so people who only ordered that had theirs shipped pretty fast. I ordered the blush palette and eyeshadow palette, and it took almost 3 weeks before it shipped
So do you recommend reading all the books prior to watching the first series?
I have seen others use fyrinnae pixie epoxy for special shades and finely millled glittery/sparkly ones.. curious to know your thoughts and if you have tried it before or would be willing to now that you are in the US and its a smaller indie brand..

People have really unrealistic expectations right now. Don’t buy into the back to normal, because… we’re not. Warehouses still have limited personnel allowed per shift, there are staff shortages, and people have been out sick. A lot.
Folks need to practice grace right now. Otherwise we’re going to lose a lot more businesses we are gonna want to have in the hopeful future of no panini.

I get OP's point, it's just makeup, not something indispensable but these pretentious luxury brands are the ones positioning their products as if they were so yeah, they should at least be transparent about the shipping delays instead of not even acknowledging the problem.
My favorite book was the third one with Benedict and Sophie, I just thought their love story was so cute!

I ordered from PMG last year or so and it wasn't until waaaay later that I noticed that not both my purchases were of the same quality. Now, none of the palettes were damaged or wrong, but it's just that if they are at a price point, I wouldn't expect it. For instance, and maybe not every palette gets this, but one palette had the protective pull away film while the other one didn't along with some of the box packaging coming undone in transit, and a scratch in a matte. I only realized this way later because I save the pull aways for special occasions (when I am depressed, when the palettes get really dirty) and I noticed that one of the palettes was always smudged and it was because it didn't have the cover. Again, not something to cancel anyone over or to not buy from her again, but I note it because it could show how productions may turn out to be later on down the line.

Love PMG! I'm a big fan of her mattes tho I prefer ND shimmers. I've personally never had a problem with the PMG website, but I am never in a rush to receive make-up, so if it takes a week or two, I don't mind. My problem with this palette is that the 2 pinks are too similar. I would have preferred one of them be darker. Other than that, I don't mind the packaging and can't wait to receive mine!
I ordered it on the restock day, 1/21 and it arrived yesterday, 1/26/22. I believe there is a warehouse near me so I usually get things in a timely manner. I’m sorry you had this experience though. I’m happy you posted now that I have the palette to play along!
I used to live in Mexico and I found out that things delayed more here than there, even if they were coming from USA-MEX, I was living in a city with customs and maybe that's why. But here I wait forever !!!
I feel the same about Colourpop’s shipping……sometimes it takes 3 weeks to receive - they are in LA and I am 2 1/2 hours down the freeway in San Diego….4 times they forgot to pack part of my order. 😩. So weird…i just made a purchase from Colourpop the other day and it literally shipped the next day which shocked me. I’ve never had an issue with PG either…but I didn’t buy anything from this collection
I ordered on the release date too and I'm still waiting for mine 😭. I think people who bought the restock are already getting theirs and here I am with nothing 😂😂. Yes I want luxury experience with luxury prices.
I think you’re right about preorders for the first launch. I ordered after the restock on Monday and got mine today.
But if you want to read the Bridgerton series again I can recommend listening to them as audiobooks!
My favourite of the books is definitely Francesca as well! I love how different it is from the others, how secure she is in herself and how she doesn't just accept a man because she has to. My belief is that the Whistledown storyline will be included in season two as well as Anthony's storyline. I honestly kinda hope they leave out Eloise's storyline all over, because I feel like she changes drastically from the previous books in that one and it doesn't make sense with the Eloise we have gotten to know in the TV series. Eloise's arc also doesn't really make that much sense if the whole Wistledown reveal happens before it does in the books, but who knows really? Book 4, 5 and 6 happen almost simultaneously so they have a lot to play around with storywise.
Oh update I ordered the Bridgerton palette earlier in the week and I just got it, it shipped out super fast
I absolutely love and adore this palette so much! The thing is it inspires me, is it the most versatile? No. But it calls to me which is why I love it so much ❤️ But the shipping isn’t too bad for the UK maybe 2 weeks-ish x
I am so sorry you had a bad experience with your order. I ordered the blush palette and got it before all the people I follow on YT and that is just strange. You are right, it should have been noted on the website if the shipping was going to be delayed.
Omg so I ordered the bridgerton highlighter and 3 or 4 days later saw her big sale on motherships so bought 3 of those. Please tell me why a larger order arrived faster than a single item. I emailed cust service a day or 2 after i got my pallettes and the next day the highlighter shipped. Never got a response from CS. I hate it when companies do that.
The second launch went way smoother, since it was ordered Friday and received the following wednesday. I agree, the items were not ready to ship, they were probably missing one of the components or something.

Anthony's book, the 2nd Julia Quinn Bridgerton book is my fav. Although, yes all of them are awesome and I adore every one of them. It's one of my favorite book series.

I might get the blush palette if still available in September/ Black Friday but as I’ve so much makeup I can’t even find the other blush palette from Pats Christmas collection maybe not 😬
I have not watched or read Bridgerton but I enjoy this palette. It is kinda a one trick pony, but I’ve reached for this and my Dollhouse palette a lot this month.
I bought the palette and one of the highlighters when they first launched. I like them so far, but now I feel like I need to buy the Intensifeyes Artistry Wand to make the blue shimmer pop.
Mine came with scratches too but on one of the eyeshadows. I was definitely annoyed. Another one looked slightly touched but oh well.
