      My experience with PML eyeshadows is the same as yours. I get a lot of fallout! That's why I use them only with the Mehron mixing liquid. I also wish she would add more colorful mattes to her 10-pan palettes. I am not overly impressed by her "special" shades either, as I have a nice collection of Indie multichromes which I love and tend to use more often than her somewhat overhyped glitter shades.

I would love more mattes from PMG but her Blitz formulas are unlike anything in the market even though indie brands do provide more variety with shimmers and vibrant duo chromes compared to other mainstream brands. As you said, it’s about preferences and what we want from our makeup experiences.
    I am a huge fan of Dame Pat because I too was a little immigrant black girl who grew up in the UK and understand the sheer and joyous miracle of who she became and what she has built against all odds… she is also kind and generous and a person that people love to be around because she makes them feel better about themselves and that is a rare quality at that level of public success. So I have an emotional bias because I identify strongly with her life experiences.
    That has absolutely nothing to do with her makeup.
    On the flip side, i happen to truly enjoy her makeup because it performs well and I thoroughly enjoy luxury experiences and assured quality. She makes things that fit well with my aesthetic. Also in every product she makes, she has shades that ALL races can use. I cannot say that of all the products of other luxury brands. I always find myself having to make things work with other brands… I can find what I need with Dame Pat…

      That is valid. If you buy it just because you love her and her formulas, it doesn’t matter what else is out there that’s cheaper or comparable. You’re allowed to spend your money on things you like and want to support. I wish I had just bought select things that I loved that i wanted to support, instead of trying to get everything on sale or dupes or other people’s hype. In this life if something makes you happy and isn’t hurting anyone, you should embrace it! Even something as simple as what makeup we use can give us some joy and something to be excited about.

    Angie I can't believe you're just now trying all of this! Pat McGrath is my FAVORITE brand of all time, hands down. I'll never stop collecting. I have lots of indie shadows as well and I will admit that my excitement for PMG was a bit diminished after trying brands like Oden's Eye and Kaleidos, as I feel the sparkly shades from both of those brands are similar to Pat's special shades. I don't believe they're quite as good though. My advice to everyone using PMG shadows is to always use the special shades with a glitter glue! I have no problems with them when I use a glitter glue and I get compliments every time from strangers saying they've never seen shadows so shiny and sparkly

    Thank you for saying that the PM shadows aren’t your favorites. Everybody raves about them. I found the special shades, while pretty, do have a really bad problem as far as traveling all over the face. If I don’t use some sort of setting medium to use them with, my face has sparkles all over the place. And sometimes even with a setting medium they still travel. 🤦🏻‍♀️
    Her foundation is not bad. I do have to put on a second layer for the coverage I want. One layer is too sheer. I had to look at many many videos to get a better idea on what shade to purchase. I do like the under eye setting powder. For me it works. I sent back the two blushes when they were released. I couldn’t get the new locking mechanism open due to having issues with my hands. That locking mechanism is a fail.
    I was wondering if you could find dupes in the Indie world for some of the “special” shades in her Huetopian palette.
    Thank you so much for this video! 🤗❤️

Most of the people I come across on CZcams and Insta always have a mega-filter applied, and it sometimes makes me - as a 35 year old - feel like my texture is abnormal. Consciously, I know that people are filtered; subconsciously, definitely not always.

    With Pat McGrath, you pay for the experience, not just the product itself, and one should be aware of that. There is nothing wrong with that, I absolutely love spending more money on high end brands for that luxurious feeling. Design, packaging, customer service, and so on. I want my make up to make me feel fancy and extra, and drugstore just doesn't do that for me, even if the formula is great. But it is absolutely not necessary to spend so much money to get really good products.

I can't think of a good reason to buy an 18 dollar palette with 45 dollar shipping fee. Thank you for the tips on how to use Black eyeshadow, ive always been scared of using black but now I feel equipped to try it. Im glad you loved the products at least you dont have to feel bad about spending all that money for no reason & getting crappy products. She is still far to expensive for me sadly, maybe one day lol ❤

      Pat McGrath products are for everyone. Checkout her bio. She’s a world-renowned veteran makeup artists. Extraordinary. Check her out! Also, no need to be afraid…most black-owned makeup brands are geared toward all skin tones as a result of decades of non-representation in the industry. Juvia’s Place (available at Ulta) is also a great brand.

    When I check the Pat Mcgrath website her palettes seem magical. When I see a video of someone using them they look underwhelming (for the price)... I really don't get the hype...

    • @Acidfunkish
      @Acidfunkish Před 2 lety +3

      Especially for the price, IMO! They are so, so ridiculously priced, and they just seem kind of boring, to me.
      Though, I overall feel the same about most Natasha Denona eyeshadows. I'd rather use BH, Oden's Eye, Kaleidos, Shroud, Lethal, Glamlite, or even Colourpop. They just work better, for my style of makeup.
      I do like ND's face products, though, in general. But like... There are some really great Colourpop face products, too. 🤷🏻‍♀️

      _"When I check the Pat Mcgrath website her palettes seem magical."_ That's all marketing, which I'm sure you know. Those videos she's got of swiping the incredible sparkling topper over that deliciously plump eye? Nobody can tell me that eye model isn't a young teen. No adult has eye skin/tissue that bouncy and youthful!

    • @soren5021
      @soren5021 Před 2 lety +1

      You have to see them in real life. Cameras never give enough justice to eyeshadows, and it is especially true. I own two Pat Mc Grath palettes - Bronze Seduction and Subversive - some mattes feel like pure cream, and the shimmers from her "special quad" (the baked shadows at the right) are surreal! I wouldn't say her 3 recent palettes (Divine Rose 1 and 2 and Huetopia) are worth, because the color stories are quite "basic", but if you can experience her older and bolder palettes, they're truely an experience!
      (As a comparison, I own the Gold palette from Natasha Denona, and I think this one isn't worth the price)

    • @deejawhitegrass
      @deejawhitegrass Před 2 lety +2

      Her special shades a quite special, esp in person. But yeah, you kind of have to buy a mothership to get those. Unless you get one of her original quads. Although, per shade, mothership eyeshadows cost about $13 which is quite comparable to some indie eyeshadows. Less if you wait for her 30% sale.
      I do love her metallics. They offer a one-and-done effect.

    Also, it's interesting how eyeshadow tastes are different. The cream formula from Natasha Denona doesn't last on me at all. Even with the best primer, it creases significantly easier than any powder formula, and twice as easy as the Colorpop cream eyeshadows which stay put on me every single time. So for me, the more she does the cream formula, the less I am tempted to buy.

    I do love PMG I own all her palettes. Her satin shimmer shades can also be used in the crease like Charlotte Tilbury. Her special shades in the mothership palettes some are crumbly but a mixing medium with them works great. I will say her foundation, concealer blush highlighter they are my favs from the brand.

    This was a fun video, I'll admit that I really do love PMG's face products more than her eyeshadows surprisingly. Her foundation line has one of the few undertones that I feel really suits me (neutral olive), and I enjoy her powders, blushers, etc. I like ND's eyeshadows because her color stories are simpler for neutral lovers like myself, but I do hope to bite the bullet on a PMG palette one day, perhaps Divine Rose I.

    You look absolutely stunning I've been waiting for you to come with this video and I didn't know it was going to happen ever, but I'm sooo happy. Also this is the way that I like to do my makeup (not ALL the time but most of the time), neutral smokey matts with a pretty reflective shimmer, so I am liiiving for this lok on you. I also have to say that I definitely agree with what you pointed out about ND matts, they are just amazing and more unique in tone, I bought the triochrome for your recommendation about the matts and I find difficult to pick another eyeshadow palette when i'm reaching for a grunge green or purple moment. I will have to say that I don't own a lot of Indie make up, only a couple of clionadh eyeshadows and even though they are amazing they are also prettty expensive, so maybe it's me but i can not get this kind of look with more affordable brands, give us some tips! Again I'm so happy for this video. Usually I watch you during my lunchbreak the day after you upload it but I couldn't stop myself to watch this before going to sleep. its usually hard for me to tell on a CZcams video whether a foundation looks nice so I really on description. But this foundation looked particularly good! The pat mcgrath lipglosses are beautiful and not sticky. A large part of the cost for her mothership palettes go into both the heavy lacquered packaging and also large eyeshadow pans. Usually 2g/pan. also the 4 Astro blitz shades are expensive to make. Indie shadows are not necessarily less expensive per shade but you have the ability to choose your own shades.
