  • SAYSKY Element 3L waterproof running jacket review. We've had quite a lot of running waterproof jacket content on the channel of late. With the way the weather has been over the last month in the UK I hope it's all been helpful. The last time we reviewed one on the channel, it was Harrier Trail Running's great value Exmoor Jacket coming in at only £89! However in this video we are looking at a jacket at completely the other end of the spectrum, SAYSKY's Element 3L waterproof running jacket. Check out the review to see if we think it's worth its pretty hefty price tag of £289!

    Really need a waterproof jacket specially that we are on a wet season. This Element 3L would probably be the best but the cost is pretty high.

      It's a great Jacket Randel but it would also be worth watch our review of the Ronhill Shakedry Gore-Tex jacket. That's a brilliant jacket as well but it £50 cheaper. Hope this helps and thanks for watching the channel 🙏😊

    Nice review Loyd. Looks like the consensus from the comments is Saysky have misjudged the price they’re marketing this jacket at. Personally I recently bought the Rab Pacer jacket. It’s 3L too - Gore-tex - lighter, packs down into a stuff sack and has hem adjustment rather than elastic which I personally prefer as it provides more flexibility on fit depending on how many layers you’re wearing. Great slim fit too with a drop hem. Even without a discount its £60 cheaper than the Element jacket.

      Thanks Neil, I'm glad you enjoyed the video. Yeap, I totally agree, the RAB Pacer is a nice looking jacket at a pretty competitive price. Thanks for the review Loyd, was waiting for it for a while! I guess the fabric is, as you said, where the money is at. I have a couple of questions if you may (since I'm looking for a jacket as well): you didn't mention wearing it with a hydration bag, under or above, how durable and how will it handle that? What are other as close or as good quality jackets out there to consider? Thanks in advance (:

    • @Run4Adventure
      @Run4Adventure  Před 2 lety

      No worries Naim 👍
      Sorry it took a whole but I've been waiting for some bad weather to really test the jacket out in. The Element jacket isn't designed to go over a race vest (pack) so you'd definitely want to run with it underneath. It's a pretty solid jacket so I don't think they'd be any problems with that 👍
      As far as other jacket offering the same sort of technical abilities, these would be worth a look -
      Ronhill Shakedry Gore-Tex jacket
      Raidlight Ultralight 2.0 MP +
      Salomon Bonatti trail
      Inov-8 Stormshell

    Have to say the price would put me off as being an amateur runner. Did loads of looking at a jacket that would hold up to use of a backpack and ended up with Gore wear R3 a couple of years ago. If I ever replace that would be looking at the Harrier 👍

      Yes , after reading your reply, I have done some further research: Saysky is 280 size M while Ronhill is a mere 132g. It seems a bit unfair to Saysky as it features 3 layer but it is what it is.

    Given the 3 layer system, the build quality and the fact you could wear that jacket almost anywhere then the price is probably about right in all honesty. I'd wear that into town, to the shops as well as running.
    For me personally, I want a running jacket that can be rolled up and carried. This jacket looks like it might be too large to carry in a waist bag/race vest.
    I wouldn't buy one for running, but I'd be tempted as a general all round jacket.

    • @Run4Adventure
      @Run4Adventure  Před 2 lety +2

      I know what you mean Mike and I agree. For the level of protection and breathability you get from a 3 layer jacket it is about right. I'm just not sure a brand with no history in the waterproof jacket market can get away with a £289 price point 🤔
      As far as packabilty, it packs down pretty small actually. You wouldn't have any problem fitting it in a race vest and it wouldn't take up a lot of room at all. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment 🙏😊

    Looks to be a great jacket but that price is a showstopper for me. I own the OMM Halo2 and the OMM Kamelika and one thing I always think about with these jackets is 'what is my pack doing to it'?
    My hydro vest always rub and mark my shirts and seem to pull the weave tighter somehow. If I had that vest on top of my jacket, I'd wonder how long it would keep its integrity? Sometimes I wear my Kamelika over the top of the vest but not always.
    At the £150-£170 mark, I can live with that thought. At £290, it's not even part of my thought process.

    • @Run4Adventure
      @Run4Adventure  Před 2 lety +1

      It's definitely pretty pricey Ian 😲
      It's tricky with a pack on because there's always going to be a bit of rubbing going on. I think some of the more substantial jackets hold up better but they'll also be a bit heavier as well. This is why we are seeing more brands bringing out jackets that are designed to fit over the top of our packs as well as underneath, like the Harrier Exmoor and the Salomon Bonatti trail. Thanks for watching mate and keep positive with those niggles. Go steady, don't over do it and do all your rehab exercises and you will get back stronger than ever! 🏃‍♂️💪
