This is the complete Vintage Computer Festival Midwest experience! At least as it was for me in 2023. Driving from North Carolina to Illinois, enjoying everything in downtown Chicago, setting up the LGR exhibit, shenanigans at the show itself, then eventually traveling back home and putting this video together while sick. Fun times!

One of the best vlogs I've watched in a while. Really felt like I was there, right with you. Hats down, nicely edited and executed! Thank you so much for bringing us along.
Thank you, I appreciate that!
LGR BLERG
@@sfhawkeye That's the sound you make when you're sick. BLEEEEEEEERGH.
Yep. I ticked off Chicago on my list.
@@LGRBlerbs "smells like butt a little bit weed" HAHAHAHA HAHAHAHA
So, when are we going to see a travel thrifting series? Where you travel around the US checking out cities and random cool thrift shops?! This should be a thing!
I’m genuinely thinking about it. Especially since thrifting ain’t what it used to be near me.
@@LGRBlerbs Well if it happens I'll be the first to watch. I think it would be a great idea! Hop on up here to Minnesota/South Dakota and check out some of the Indian tribe thrift shops along your way. Definitely a great experience.
@@LGRBlerbs lol, my big thought watching this was I wonder if you did much thrifting, it's been a while.
@@LGRBlerbsThe thrifting near me sucks. It’s all clothes. Maybe some old cameras, but the only tech is microwaves and toasters.
@@ferretyluv My area is no better when it comes the Thrift Stores its got so bad I've sadly just stopped going.
Luke should host LGR as Clint for April Fools day.
or Luke could play Clint's "evil" Xmas double
Plot twist: they've been trading places for years
The real Clint is Luke's Christmas Clone.

What a great way to spent a saturday evening. Couple of beers, pizza and LGR vlog. Greetings from Finland!
Greetings right back! 🍻
Hey, a fellow Finlander!
This is a very relaxing watch. Not overedited with extra music and things. Just the natural ambience of everything around.
I’m glad it’s appreciated! Very much inspired by those “asmr city walkabout” videos that show up in my feed, I find the ambiance and minimal commentary relaxing
@@LGRBlerbsand you've translated that perfectly to your vlog. I've seriously considered posting it to the "unintentionalASMR" subreddit but for that it has one too many "loud" moments like during the cubs game or at some points during the convention. But the video still beamed me into some good sleep when I put it on lying in bed yesterday. Finished watching it today and now I feel relaxed as hell. Definitely adding this to my favourites.
@@LGRBlerbs I see! You did an amazing job replicating it in that case. I also love the touches of silliness within the video too. Some of the abrupt, mid-sentence cuts and the repeat visuals were very amusing.
This is one of your best videos ever. I'd have paid to see this in a theater. The footage of Chicago was sublime.
Thanks!

Your trip to E3 with your brother was one of my all time favorite LGR videos, and this is now alongside it. Thanks for the behind the scenes and the nitty gritty of things. I hope this certainly is not the last of these types of videos!
Glad you enjoyed it!
With E3 now officially dead, the first thing I thought of was "Dang, now we'll never see another LGR E3 trip video" Hope you've been well@@LGRBlerbs
I don't usually comment but this is one of your best videos ever
Insanely high quality footage of Chicago, superb editing, very well documented....PLEASE DO MORE LIKE THIS...
I love that you added the post-show things and editing!
Glad to hear, it’s a rather important part of the show!
I'd be happy to see more of LGR's backyard critters! Great Vlog!
Typically they get posted on Twitter, at least the critters where I get decent footage :)
@@LGRBlerbs nice, looks like you live in a beautiful area, at least compared to where I live. Which is a few blocks from the old Computer Reset, so... nearly dystopian.
I really hope you will create a video like this more often. This is my favorite CZcams video of the year, easily. The road trip, the scenes of Chicago, the festival, the interaction with brother Luke, the editing, the nature, the beginning and the end of it all - “I think it all works together very well”.
Thank you, that’s good to hear :)
I've never known anyone to be able to make a busy, hustling bustling city appear so calm and welcoming; and Chicago nonetheless! From your fantastic shots, smooth commentary, and unhurried observations, it makes me more excited for my visa to process and for me to escape England and live in the US all the sooner. Thank you so much for sharing your experiences with us. I hope you appreciate how blessed you are not just in your own life, but what you also impart onto others. Thank you. I hope I can meet you one day.
So, it's just not me who wants to escape England, esp London. Lucky you!!!
As clean and nice Chicago looks, US cities are so soulless and boring.
For a european dude from Belgium, this is mesmerizing! Thanks Clint!
You're welcome. There are Belgiums in Wisconsin, West Virginia, New York and Illinois. No Belgiums in Asia though, they're not that tacky.@@Throckmorton.Scribblemonger
2.5 hour blerb. Cannot wait to get some time today to watch all of this.
I came over here because of that brief glimpse in the video about you guys going to a Cubs game, and I was not disappointed. Love watching Hendricks pitch.
Heck yeah, what a treat that game was to see in person
I really like the fact that you included absolutely everything that has got anything to do with getting the video to the stage at which we're watching it: it really involves the viewer. Also, being careful not to show your house and stuff, your video DID manage to convey the fact that you're probably in a very nice area indeed ... with actual wildlife! It seems you just get to look out your window and get a free nature documentary!
Being from Chicago and having lived here for my entire life, the stuff you guys did is things I realistically have not done
Do you mean literally?
So true. I've lived half an hour from the city my whole life and I've not done most of this stuff, so it's neat to see.
A few thoughts:
It was bittersweet to see your brother leave at the airport.
How great is that Ninja coffee maker?
Can we get closure on the burst pipes?
2.5 hours of Blerb after not having any Blerbs for a while, yes sir! That was awesome :)
So chuffed to see the Bear-A-Byte getting the love!
I see you also figured out that it oh-so-nicely can be transported in your car by belting it in like a kid!
Indeed, it just seemed natural!
The thing got more selfies at the show than I did I think 😄
@penfold5 a.k.a. the Dr. Frankenstein of Ikea teddy bears 🧸🤎
The first five minutes made me so homesick. Gotta get back home soon.
Thanks for the super long vlog! I've never seen Chicago before really. The architecture was awe inspiring. The contrast between the brutalism, modern and gilded was so visually stunning.
The architecture alone really makes the city thrilling to explore.
I’ve only been to the airport. I never knew there were big cities that could rival New York. And it just goes on and on. The biggest city near me is concentrated in a small area. But downtown Chicago is like the whole city.
That was some great footage of the city and the Bears and the Deer were great at the end. Glad to see you are doing much better. Take care and thanks for sharing.
Enjoy those special times with your brother. I lost my younger brother in June and its the toughest thing ever. Not trying to bring the mood down but seeing you and your brother reminded me of the good times I spent with mine.
I lost my grandmother and I know how you feel. There’s never enough time.
I’m so sorry for your loss
It's fascinating to see the city I work in through someone else. You have a good eye for aesthetics; noticed some stuff I'd never seen before, even though I've been working downtown for decades. Thank you for taking the time to shoot and edit this, it must have taken forever.
9045 seconds of LGR content, i enjoyed watching this.

I hope you're nearly fully recovered from the experience. For 2024, let's hope for hyper-realistic virtual expos of vintage computing gear, where we'll all stay certified virus-free :D @LRGBlerbs
Interesting how the camera uses a more directional mic when zoomed in, then switches to more stereo / ambient mics when zoomed out. Huh. Clever.
Always loved that Luke looks so much like you. Christmas Clone.
If I hadn't read this comment before watching I woudl have assumed it was him pretending to be his brother. That is spooky how alike they look.
Never thought I would see Wrigley and hear Pat Hughs announcing and everyone sing Go Cubs Co with LGR. ❤
I honestly think this is your best work, sure it's a lengthy video but it needed to be. Hope you do more of this in the future. The Chicago skyline at night was breathtaking, felt like I was there lol. Great Job Clint?
Wow i never knew you could mute those talking gas pumps! Thanks LGR!
I didn't even know talking gas pumps was a thing. That had to have been recent. It sucks a**.
Absolutely made my city look stunning. It’s also surreal to me that LRG walked by my place of work and went into my neighborhood only a few blocks from where I live.
I got engaged under the Columbus St bridge on the Chicago riverwalk back in 2016. great memories!
Sorry to hear you got sick dude. Do more of these vlogs. It's great for those of us who can't make it from our tiny parts of the Pacific ocean. We love hanging out with you. Your pad in the trees looks like the best place to heal from the 'vid too.
It’s not surprising. Covid hasn’t gone away. Especially a tiny venue with thousands of people cramped in small spaces with no ventilation. It’s going to happen.
Great audio scape.
Very important part of the feel of the place in question.
Cheers from Finland to all LGR fans out there.
Chicago seems not particulary Windy, but noisy it is for sure..
Tech CZcamsrs always have the best blogs. 8 bit guy has done some, and like this one, you guys just know what is interesting and engaging in travel
Such an awesome video, thank you for sharing your experience with us.
Thanks you for watching, I’m glad you enjoyed!
There's the festival itself, and there's the experience of getting to/from the whole thing. Which is what makes this video a fascinating time capsule in more ways than one.
Thank you.
Thank you so much for your Chicago footage. I love Chicago, as someone who grew up in a suburb of Chicago. Greatest city in the world.
Me too. I’m from DeKalb.
@@DerekLippold Cool! I was from Elk Grove Village.
EGV here too. I have no idea how anyone could say Chicago is the greatest city in the world with a straight face.
@@TheTTVert I've been to LA, San Francisco, Paris, London and some others. I absolutely can say with a straight face. It's my preference.
@@costanzathemage Having lived in California I can understand if you compare SF to Chicago why you'd say that. I think only Portland, SF, Detroit, NYC and a few cities in Seattle are dirtier, more crime riddle cesspools than Chicago. But to each their own I suppose. I have to say this, I've never seen Chicago so dead, clean and free of bums/panhandlers as I did in Clint's video. In fact I don't think I saw one, great editing Clint!
Clint: Random Best Buy in Kentucky.
Me: I KNOW THAT BEST BUY!
I've been to Chicago a few times but watching it through artistic eyes was so different. Thank you for that.
Pfew! Glad you recovered, what a bummer! I really enjoyed the whole 'tour', thanks for spending the time editting!
Do hope you usually get in more vitamine holding food ;)

Too bad you got THAT, I know the feeling. I had it 3 years ago and still suffering from fatigue, constant tiredness and the nerves controlling the heart rate is f***ed up. (Hooray for medication!)
Loved watching this video. :)
Cute visitors in the garden! :D
Living the Midtown Madness dream for real 😊
What an incredible trip! Thank you for taking me.
Love to see that you did a bunch of tourist stuff while you were in town, definitely made it worth the drive aside from the whole getting sick thing.
also kinda sad that I recognized a lot of the landmarks from midtown madness lol
> also kinda sad that I recognized a lot of the landmarks from midtown madness lol
Oh yes. Good times. I love running people over in Chicago Midtown Madness style too lol.
..." Everything is a donut if you make a hole in it"
- True. I can't refute that.
Great video, thank you for sharing! It's great you and your brother are so close, it seems like you guys would be a blast to hang out with. Also have you considered you might be a Disney princess? Did any of the woodland creatures ask to come in and do housework?
I see you went to portillos! Taking the pickle off the dog is SOP for me. We have two of them here in Madison, WI. My order is usually a Polish dog and a Chi dog with fries. That is alot of food for me. I grew up in Chicago, haven't been to Navy Pier in 40 years. It was a dump then. Glad to see they fixed it up and made it a destination. Thanks for sharing your trip.
Whenever it switches to black and white dashcam my mind instintively starts expecting a crime being caught on camera.
Or Humphrey Bogart walking around the corner.
Or a UFO to pass by in the distance.
I'm from Indianapolis (Indiana.... the Corn and Long Boring Drives state), though I lived in the Chicagoland area for a few years. When you guys went to the camera shop and you showed The Freeze stand, I went wild! The first place I lived "in The City" was about 2 blocks from there by Humboldt Park! I thoroughly enjoyed reliving great memories from 10 years ago. Thank you for the vlog!
Edit: I also lived near North Center (a few blocks NW of Wrigleyville) for a minute, so this was a lot of weird feelings! But still an awesome vlog!
Also from Indy, now in Seattle though. Used to live across the street from Lawrence North High School and my family used to take weekend trips to Chicago. Feeling the nostalgia here for sure!
I used to hang out with the OPL Archive guy on forums back in the late 00s. Good times.
1:38:37 Those are two CED video players. You don't see those often, but you do often see the Select-a-vision movies in thrift stores sometimes.
Hi Clint (MRLGR), hope you’re well my friend. This video was strangely entertaining and amusing in many parts. Thank-you for taking the time to share this with us all. 😊
You were in my neighborhood when you saw that Eagle Vision! I always make note of that car when I see it on walks. Really cool!
Hey! My spouse and I were briefly in your official VCF Midwest video (I was in the yellow shirt taking a photo with you with my Mavica camera) and you walked through our neighborhood (we live super close to Dodd Camera). Glad you enjoyed your time in Chicago!
I watched the whole thing and loved every second! Such a cool thing to experience with you through video! Conventions are super fun! The bears were super cute too :D Looking forward to more vlogs ;)
I always envied Americans for their roads going through these huge landscapes. Edit: and huge buildings.
Watching this vlog from my little town in england it looks like a spectacular city to visit. Really enjoying this content from you clint. Please come to UK.
I plan on it!
Thank you for taking us with you and showing us around. This has become one of my favorite videos from you. I absolutely enjoyed it. Planning my next road trip because of this, you should be somewhat financially liable 😆 Jokes aside, truly an amazing video!
I'm so glad to hear, I hope it’s a great trip!
After i got back from VCFMidwest i tested positive covid 3 days later chris & kiera and then wife congratulations lgr guy. VCFMidwest had mass email go out after everything. Get well soon.
This was a treat to watch. I enjoyed seeing your videos walking around Chicago. I've never been there myself (well I don't count layovers in the airport) so it was cool to see the sites with you.
In terms of Chicago, watching this vlog feels like I've already visited, but in the meantime, that I now definitely need to visit.
My high school had that Soundchaser system back in 1987 with the Apple Bose speakers. It was amazing and I was afraid to touch it because the teacher told me how expensive it was.
LMAO Stinking Creek road, and the bridge to nowhere was over French Broad River WHAT BIG BONE LICK. Thanks for taking us to Chicago with you! Even from Wisconsin I have yet to be in Chicago, let alone downtown.
Ironically, a couple weeks prior to VCF, my girlfriend and I took a vacation in Naperville, pretty close to there, and we were totally going to go to that restaurant. Instead, we went to the Plank Bar + Grill in our hotel (Hotel Indigo) and i had a very similar burrito, only no avocado and on what seemed to be some sort of spinach/oscar the grouch tortilla. Delicious nonetheless.
I am so offended you didn't get the "I'm sexy and I know it" bump sticker!!!
Absolutely loved this vlog, it's fantastic to get such little moments of your life in-between the videos 🥰
My wife and I are planning to go to Chicago for Galloping Ghost Arcade, Korean food, and some general sightseeing. You gave us some great ideas on where to hit up. Thanks so much for you and your brother's work put into the video!
Enjoy your trip, that sounds like a great time!
The Korean spots are on the north side. My fav KBBQ spot is San Soo Gab San. Cho Sun Ok is popular but smaller & busy. These are near the Gene's Sausages shop he went to in the Lincoln Square area. Milwaukee Ave in the Wicker Park area is good for finding interesting food & stores (where his photo store was). You'll love Galloping Ghost. One of the best places in the world.
Never commented on one of your videos, and I'm two months late, but going through COVID now I had the time to sit down and watch it and I loved it. Definitely up there as one of my favourite video of yours, reminded me of the E3 video you did a while back. The editing is great, loved that there's no extra diegetic music and that you went for a calmer mood. Made me want to visit Chicago. Thank you for bringing us along with you!
Thanks, I’m glad you enjoyed and wish you a quick recovery!
Loved the nature walk at the end. We don't have bear sightings here in Hickory. We do have deer, squirrels, and my favorite....raccoons!
While the convention would probably be interesting to me, I think where you live is more my kind of place than Chicago. You have a really awesome yard!
Thanks very much for this. Really enjoyable and shows just how hard you actually need to work, to put something like this together. Great stuff.
This is the video we want! Thank you
