    Not so much crime as people say on the media eh? Yea, it’s an agenda folks! As a Chicago native, Chicago like any city has bad parts which anyone smart enough would know to not go there. It doesn’t mean Chicago is entirely bad, so don’t be fooled by media! It’s a lovely city, which deep rich history! Our food is amazing, the lakefront, the view, it’s amazing!

      So true. All kinds of interesting places that you can do in an hour or two. The big museums here are world-class, but as such they are huge and could take you days each to fully explore. But the little ones are true gems, and let you explore regular Chicago neighborhoods, which are often overlooked by travelers with limited time.

    Chicago is easily one of the top ten greatest cities in the world. I've lived in 20 great cities but by far Chicago tops them all. Oprah was correct when she said if Chicago winters weren't so tough everyone would want to live here. Personally I don't mind the winters but if you've never experienced snow then you might be too delicate for the Windy City, especially in February.

The common pattern is the hype of a place always exceeds the reality by a big margin and I was shocked when I first visited Chicago since it is the only place where I find it to be quite the opposite. I enjoy NYC however Chicago is my favorite too by far.

      @@NB-nh2sf I hope you have a great time in July! The gospel fest is in June this year but I’m positive it’ll be something going on in Millennium Park (where all the aforementioned festivals take place) the month you arrive. Actually Millennium Park is celebrating 20 years this summer so there will be a series of free concerts all summer in the park.
      If you love music, it’ll be worth it no matter the genre (musicians and selections are always family friendly) I happened to be in the park one summer afternoon and the symphony orchestra happened to be hosting a concert, it was such a beautiful experience!
      All of the music festivals are free to enter (except Lollapalooza but that’s in Aug), just be sure to bring your own chair! They usually have food trucks and different vendors out as well. The music festivals usually last thorough the weekend each summer month.

I spent a few years in Chicago, and the highlight for me (beside meeting my future wife) was the cultural life, in particular music. Two tips for your next trip back. Take the Architecture Cruise out of Navy Pier. You get a good view and history lesson of the city. And go to the top of the John Hancock building for dinner or a cocktail at the Signature Room for a great view of the city.

    • @davidw7
      @davidw7 Před 8 měsíci +3

      The Signature room just closed abruptly and not to reopen citing severe economic hardship that did not have enough business to return even since C*vid. Perhaps a drinks bar that opened at the 360 observation deck that is just above it on the 94th floor to view the city from above did not help.... though you pay a feet to go to that floor with discounted citypass tickets worth it for multiple city attractions for tourist.
      Perhaps someone else will reopen the cocktail lounge again that housed the Signature room in the future? Time will tell as so many other places like rooftop ones today to compete with.

    Glad you had a good time here! Next trip make it to the south & west side to explore Pilsen, Bridgeport, Chinatown and Fulton Market. Also next hotdog in Chicago get Chicago style= relish, onion, tomato,sports peppers,mustard, celery salt poppy seed bun. Ketchup is against the law but if you like it add it :) One more food tip deep dish is very good but locals eat tavern style pizza. Phil's pizza in Bridgeport ;) Safe travels

    Welcome to Chicago even though I guess you’ve already been and gone. Glad you enjoyed your brief stay. There is so much to do and see here, as you could tell. I love it here of course I wished that you had taken the time to actually be able to explore Navy Pier. And I’m glad you enjoyed the food. While you were at the Cubs game, it would’ve been a perfect time to have a real Chicago dog but I’m glad you enjoyed your veggie dog! hope to see you back in Chicago. Have a great Alaskan cruise. That’s another wonderful thing to do and wonderful sites of people you’ll be coming across on that.

    You picked some really good things to do for your visit. I would have traded Navy Pier for The Art Institute though. I didn't see you have an Italian Beef sandwich either. I think Al's Beef is the best but there are many Portillo's fans that would strongly disagree with me but I also prefer Giordanno's over Lou Malnati's. Also I don't know what that thing was that he was eating at Wrigley Field but it wasn't a Chicago hotdog. I hope that wasn't ketchup on it. 🤨

    • @ryanjones2596
      @ryanjones2596 Před 7 měsíci

      Agree Al's beef is the best, but only the one by UIC/Little Italy is the only one I would go to. Portillo's is just easy to order from.

    Grace, you've probably heard by now that CTA = Chicago Transit Authority, which is the company which runs/manages the "L", which is short for "elevated (train)".
    I agree with your assessment of the architecture tour. I took it several years ago.
    Wells St. is in The Loop (the downtown area which is surrounded by the "L" tracks,, but the main intersection is State and Madison.
