    If you speak no German, the three words to learn are "bitte" (please), "danke" (thanks) and "verboten" (forbidden). The first will get a German person to pay attention to you. You will use the second to thank her/him. Knowing the third will keep you out of trouble 😂

    Great video! The one thing I would add on transportation is that while Germany’s high speed rail network is extensive and theoretically very convenient, in practice it is very unreliable, especially since the pandemic, unfortunately. Hour plus delays are very common, as are cancellations. Having the Deutsche Bahn app is essential, as delays, cancellations, etc., will be difficult to navigate without it.

    I live in Baden Württemberg. I travel a lot to authentic towns and also shoot videos. My area is called "Swabia". All regions in Germany are different. For example, if in Bavaria people say “Wunderbar“ (“incredible”), then in Swabia “incredible” will be “nicht schlecht“ (literal translation “not bad”). Understand different 😅That is, if your Swabian neighbor bought a new car, then you say - nicht schlecht. and that's ok 😊😊

    Regarding tipping in a restaurant, you just round up to the nearest Euro and if you're very happy, then add another Euro. Maybe 50 cent in a bar. No more!!!

    • @gerhardma4297
      @gerhardma4297 Před 21 dnem

      If you are stingy, do as described. However, if you are very satisfied with the service and/or the quality of the food, you tip more and it is up to you how much you tip. However, there is no tipping culture in Germany as there is in the USA, because the people who serve you are paid a reasonable wage.

      No, they haven't 😀. In general there is no speed limit on the Autobahn. But in reality there is one in lots of sections due to damages, construcion works etc.

    People around me keep telling me Germany is boring so are Germans …I am feeling conflicted as to whether or not I should visit

    • @spiralpython1989
      @spiralpython1989 Před 4 měsíci +4

      I am planning trip number 3 in 3 years from Australia. The only thing boring about Germany is your own attitude towards experiences. I have seen and done some of the most incredible things in my life in Germany, and there is something for everyone. For me; art, museums, architecture and music festivals were the initial drawcards. But discovering wild places, great train journeys, and towns off the tourist route were unexpected joys. And the ease of travelling cross country makes it possible to easily visit lots of different places - especially when as an Australian, spending 14 hours driving just between geographically “close” cities of Melbourne to Sydney is my normal!
      And thanks to Schengen agreement, it’s easy to visit lots of other adjoining countries for weekends without visas (fancy a weekend in Copenhagen, Prague or Wrocław.)

    Germany has a VAT tax, so tipping is not required.

    • @DWTravel
      @DWTravel  Před měsícem +1

      Here we would disagree. The tax must be paid by the restaurant owners to the state. The tip, on the other hand, is intended directly by the guest for the staff.
