  • How to create impactful exchange and interaction between science and society? Our answer is Impact-oriented Public Engagement.
IETI - Impact-oriented Public Engagement - is a project hosted by the Public Engagement & Impact unit of the Museum für Naturkunde Berlin (MfN), which aims to increase the quality and efficiency of the MfN’s Public Engagement. This will contribute to its academic, societal, and environmental impact.
IETI's research and practice are divided into three work packages:
    • Work Package 1, Concept & Contexts, includes mapping Public Engagement stakeholders and initiatives, as well as motivations, needs and challenges. It also focuses on defining relevant science-society concepts and understanding the interrelationships between them.
    • In Work Package 2, Impact Planning & Assessment, we will identify impact goals and indicators, build an impact model for the MfN’s Public Engagement, and establish a research methodology that evaluates the impact of the museum’s Public Engagement.
    • In Work Package 3, Culture Change & Co-creation, we will deliver activities that contribute to optimise the impact of MfN’s Public Engagement, enable co-creation with external stakeholders, as well as reward and incentivize Public Engagement.
IETI’s work is aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals 14 (Life Below Water) & 15 (Life on Land).
