Thanks again for letting me experience those amazing bikes. The BMW is an awesome bike but my heart goes to the R1. Maybe if I was less fat the races would have been closer.
I wasn' sure if your weight was 175 or 235 based on a Motonosity weight of 205.
I would sacrifice the BMWs top end for the R1 based on how sweet the Yamaha sounds
Personally I've never understood the love for that sound. To me it sounds like an engine w/ an identity crisis, doesn't know whether it wants to be an inline 4 or a v-twin.
@@taylorhickman84 same... Everyone where I live will clown on you for being the only guy in town with a s1000rr or even a gsxr 1000r. They all have smart comments to make about how fast their r1s are no matter how fast your bike is, and they'll never actually show to race.
They just want to book race about how the crossplane is a perfect engine. Oh yea and they also usually own mustangs 🤦 so I have a feeling they're just crossplane loyal lol. Nothing wrong with that I suppose but they'll actually show up to a meet one day when a v4r or a bmw is there and they'll get clapped.
@@shaneflutsch2270I'm sure I would enjoy riding a new R1, but the exhaust tone does nothing for me. I love the refined sound of a screamer inline 4, and the brutal rumble of a v-twin, but the crossplane makes neither of these glorious sounds. On the track a screamer inline 4 sings like the formula one glory days as it's banged through the gears, but the new Ducatis and R1 just make this awful droning sound of a distant hillbilly at a tractor pull.
@@taylorhickman84 nothing beats that sound imo 🥶 most of litre bikes have that typical inline 4 but this bike just stands out and it sounds so good when going full throttle through gears sounds way different in video than real life too

The R1 was holding up there with the BMW until about 155-160 and the R1 as a +2 sprocket in the rear so its set up for better acceleration.
That was my first though. The sprocket helped but hurt.
It lowers the top speed
you can change sprockets on it put it on a dyno and make it what you want
That is because acceleration is what wins races with turns, not top speed.

Love the difference of sound. They sound completely different, but both amazing in their own way. I wouldn't want to pick one over the other.
Yeah, i'm currently choosing between the R1 and S1k and it is painful lmao. I hate having to choose. R1 sounds and looks better, but the S1k is faster and more comfortable.

Great video Motonosity! I've got a 2022 s1000rr and put Helibars on it. The small difference of an 1-5/8" taller and 1" back makes a HUGE difference in comfort on my s1000rr. I wonder how much more comfortable the R1 would be with Helibars? Why don't you put them on your R1 and do a review??

Two cracking bikes. Great video. I love how you yanks get away with these speeds. In UK the cops look at your face. Your house. The street signs. And they find you. Hard to say it wasn't you! They have it all on the video you published.
They put a lot of effort into it and have teams of people doing it. And you get fined or banned or go to jail and lose your license and the bike. America has it easy ! Thank god for America 👍

I just started positing a few videos, just getting the hang of editing. But yh I cover my speeds... I see a few UK riders go slightly over the speed limit but when the speeds go really high they swap camera views so u can't see the Dash. (I can't afford a second camera yet) xD
In America they do use videos against people too. But I don't think they use it for simply speeding. They use it to catch people mistreating children, doing or selling drugs, committing violent crimes, you know, things that really deserve the police's time and money to go after them. Speeding tickets or reckless driving tickets? I haven't heard of the police using tax dollars for that unless the person videos themselves running from the police. That's a different story.
By the way, those penalties in the UK for simply excessive speeding sound insanely harsh. Sounds like your government is over policing it's people with a microscope up your arses.

Pretty damn close. I guess when they're that close it comes down to which was tuned best and which mods have been done. Plus, if he is shifting at the optimal points(since he's never ridden it), and how much you each weigh.
But I'd say most liter bikes are so close in power that those are the parimaters in every race, unless both are completely stock and the same rider is competing against a clock.

I plan on selling my ‘17 RSV4 RR for a ‘15-‘19 R1. I love it, but no dealer support within 3 hrs. Question, with those being some of the loudest exhausts you can buy, which one would you say is louder? Hard to tell on video.

no r1 is beating an s1000rr...i speak from experience, lol.
But it's always in good fun, we all pick bikes based on what we like and not what's the fastest on the planet. 18 S1KRR and a 21 sport glide in the garage lol, so you know I have my low and slow days.
For $10k less on average in my country, they'd better not be beating an S1000rr lol. R1's are cheap and reliable with a unique engine. If you want pure speed and power, then obviously the substantially more expensive bike will always win.

Hey there. Wondering, does the R1 have the equivalent rims to the S1000? This in itself would make quite a bit of difference on acceleration.
They have the same wheel size yes
@@user-fe5bi7ul4t BMW comes with Carbon wheels - total weight approx 11lb. The R1 wheels are not carbon and weigh approx 24lb. If you apply Rotational Inertia, then the extra mass will impact acceleration - hence why i asked the question. However, if they are Carbon R1M wheels, then they are approx 10lb :):)

Need stock gearing on both bikes for it to be a “fair” comparison. R1 ain’t geared for top end. Even the bmws stock gearing has more mph in 6th over the r1. But it was fun nonetheless I’m sure!
Exactly you can add sprockets pipes and put them on a dyno the r1 or the pan 1m are great in the curves even out the box plus you can mod it out anyway you want
i think if u changed the gearing back the BMW would smash bcus has that variable valve timing doesn't it.

I used to not care for the r6/r1 but the newer R1’s look and sound amazing. But I still really want a BMW S1k. My little 600 isn’t fun anywhere besides the track.. it’s not fast enough for highway riding (for me personally) and that leaves me with corners around H town and Austin (mainly Austin I fuckin love it there on the bike). Can’t wait to get a S1K and make my 600 a track only bike.

Have you ever rode on a S1KRR? I rode my 2018 to the beach for a offshore tournament, covered 220+ miles on that Friday. Fished the tournament for about 12hours on Saturday, hit the sack woke up and rode back on Sunday. I have had my neck fused on 3 vertebrae and have some lower back issues, but the BMW wasn't hurting me. I still have the BMW but also have a 21 FLSB, with a back rest. Now I am spoiled lol.

R1 is the best. My friend just sold his R1 and bought a 2021 BMW s1000rr and regrets it a bit. He loved that aggressive acceleration from the R1. I to fell in love with the R1 when I did rode it lol

I think it would of been different with R1M, also they should of switched, weight plays a roll as well. R1 sounds astonishing, bmw not so much.
