Pretty deep fall into the rabbit hole from (I'm paraphrasing); "the R5 bundle was almost more than I was willing to spend", to "look at my new $1300 steering wheel". Congratulations on that sweet wheel. I own an Ascher too and the quality is implacable. It's almost like sim racing jewellery.
@mementomori4972 haha dont I know it.... The mental gymnastics required have been extreme, but its a good "investment" in my happiness, now I just need to work out how to use it, and maybe get a better QR 😂
@@MichaelSmithRaces I have the Buchfink QR (Q1R) system. It might not look very pretty, or even flimsy in the pictures, but man, when you hold it in hand it's solid and it holds the wheel (I'm not exaggerating) like it's bolted on. There is no movement whatsoever. I can't imagine that anyone would be dissapointed with the Buchfink QR. It's not cheap, but it's worth it. Sim Racing Garage has two videos on it, if you would like to check it out.
Can i do more than 1000° degree rotation on vrs i wish i can connect the wheel directly to the wheel base i dont like routing usb cable around my steering wheel
@Team_Reaper. Im sure you could do it, as the cable is very long.... but if you dont like the look of it then I would defo skip it as the cable is particularly chunky on this one! Look at the VRS rim or cube controls f pro, they both allow you to use bluetooth so no wire?? :)
@@MichaelSmithRaces yeah 👍🏻
Is this adaptor for moza wheel included ?i have ks wheel & R9 moza
@GreekSIMRACING no, the wheelbase does not come with any mounting options. What I did was buy the VRS hub adapter, and then that connects onto the parts in the Moza Universal Hub, which you will need anyway to use your KS wheel! Its simple when you get your head around it. Its the part where im drilling holes, that is into the Moza wheelbase adapter.
Had mine for 6 months now, great gloves 👍👍
@fil_lokka just tried giving mine a first wash 🤪
The paddle shifters of Cammus C5 are small, and the center circle is too big. It's weird that Cammus made it that way. Other than these, this, CSL DD Bundle and Moza R5 are better choices than Logitech G923, G29, Thrustmaster T300 and T248.
@chitose3146 yeah they had to cram that motor into the wheel somehow though, had to make the middle bigger! Belt / gear wheels can get in the bin at this point!
The KS design is significantly worse. On the Neo, you can access the QR screws easily. Can't do that on the Moza KS. The RJ12 cord on the Moza KS looses connection over time. I have had my KS for 10 months and have had three defects. Granted, I use a 20 NM base. I doubt you will have the issues I've had with a 5NM base. Point of my comment... if you have a strong wheelbase, get a high quality carbon wheel. If you have a weaker wheel base, you can get a weaker wheel. Common sense (that I ignored 10 months ago :) )
@glenndjenkins thanks for the comment, you got three replacements?! thats mad! I agree with your sentiment though, pair the right equipment for the best experience!
Just get some shorter screws ..........duhhhhh
@stevep927 see if Cammus need you to join their engineering team!
@@MichaelSmithRaces No need . I know how to buy two screws
They sound so good compare to my super drive wheel I got for 20 pound lol
Paddles on McLaren wheel have a piece of rubber to reduce the noise. They are the best of the best on the market.
@Sebastian-iz8ei whatever gets you driving & having fun is the best option! Keep at it!
@@MichaelSmithRaces yep It works till I can afford a better setup
I started racing 7 years ago on a wheel and only now cause it broke at I looking for an upgrade. T300 rs served me well
@Blizzard0812 if you already had T300, I would go for something more powerful probably....
On 0.25x speed with pausing this was reeeeally helpful to protect me from mistakes :p
@wwvvww573 thanks for letting me know!! Must have looked funny at that speed :D
No entiendo esto es una ayuda asistida?
You are constantly clipping (red bar) your force feedback. Force feedback should never clip. You need to redo your force feedback settings.
@Heliodoro18 nothing wrong with clipping mate, but yeah this is clipping bad. Its because I was doing lots of testing with different FFB settings for the review vid, then I just jumped into this GT3 which had much more downforce, hence why its red AF :) thanks for commenting though!
You have great potential little bit wooden to begin with LOL. Just relax and show some personality.
@SurfwidowBeaumont cheers bud, I dont even know why I do youtube lol just a bit of fun!
Having owned Logitech g29 for the past 4 years.. time to upgrade to something better... Booked a pre-order today!!!
@Haunter_Vlogs nice im sure you will enjoy it!!
Hi do you think a stand is needed with the upgraded pedal kit for the r5 to stop the pedals from moving your r5 review was great and has led me to look into getting a r5 thank you for the informative content
@Aaron-ze9jn yep 100% you cant have them on the floor, you could look into making an mount out of wood, but wheelstand or rig is the best path really!
Im thinking of getting this, may i ask if the perfomance kit also fits on the throttle.
@gavinmirosun5568 I dont think that would help you, generally the throttle is on or off, more resistance for finer detail I dont think would help you. I have no problem with the throttle on the SRP Lites.
@@MichaelSmithRaces Ohh i was just thinking it could give more resistance for a better feel.
I upgraded from logitech to c5 and it is a fair bit more immersive. A downside of the cammus is setup time in older games like dr where everything needs binded manually and settings learned for effects and ffb. My logis were plug n play nearly always. And dont start dr without the wheel on or you'll be doing it all over again. Overall big upgrade and it makes me want to play more. Maybe when the c12 is more available I'll sell the c5 and upgrade.
@paddyodoors2757 yeah thats a good point, I had the Moza so im used to mapping all the buttons myself but I can see if you are used to the logi that would be annoying! Hope the C5 serves you well!
Mine stopped working today after 2 weeks, my pc won’t boot I’m having to reinstall my old one. Update: PC worked fine after putting my old psu in, getting it returned, it’s a shame cause I have to use a non modular psu now.
Sorry that happened @djmicrowave6073 such a joke that Corsair used these cheap components on this one!
The C5 is the best of the budget DD and its not even close. R5 comes about 30% under it and the CSL DD deserves to go in the at 5nm, no power, not detail. 8nm is alright but not even half as good as C5. I've had all of them lol
@Invin_cibles here is my comparison video! ;) czcams.com/video/fsx-7FazW4M/video.html
Cammus is ok, but paddleshift is a joke. I get moza because I can upgrade the base later
@pedrohenriquebh90 they work OK, and lukes upgrade makes a huge difference, but yeah I agree if you spend the extra for Moza then you have a modular system so you can upgrade each part as you like to!
you can say the T300-Tgt killers, becasue the logitech is cheaper 150-200$ but the thrustmaster still over pricing
@m.d.g1337 yeah great point, IDK why thrustmaster dont reduce the price on the T300 would make it a much more sensible option nowdays...
I got the R5 just last week and I'm having a blast so far. This is my first wheel as I wanted to go right to DD. I was surprised with the power it puts out. This should last a while untill I get an R12 or R16
@timdunn4093 yeah enjoy it mate, its a great bit of kit so much fun!

@Sony-Fanboy still funny to me this has had so many views :D
@@MichaelSmithRaces i can also laugh about it in a good way. A good sense for humor is never wrong!
Cammus is ugly man. I don't know why they made it so ugly.
How would you hide a huge servomotor in a wheel hub and make it visually appealing?
@virtualmotorheads IDK I think you get used to it, doesnt look strange to me now! It is a bit like a kettle bell :D
Looks like we will be getting the R3 soon.
@robertcarr4172 fingers crossed! That will be an even more interesting comparison as I think the R3 will feel far weaker than the cammus....
@@MichaelSmithRaces with the R3 having only 3NM force feedback, I think it's too low for a direct drive.
Appreciate the shout out! 😁
@LukusMaxamus the shifters are a really great upgrade on the C5, thanks!
Im sry but i cannot go back to 5nm now. I was that guy saying you get no benefits or it doesnt add much until i adapted to more forces. The limit of grip, loading and unloading when cornering and more is felt so much more clear and better. But for a 5nm wheel both of these are good for sure. But yeah now when i go back to 5nm it gives me that undrrsteer feeling where im needing to turn in more to get it to turn in the same. Not many realize this until you use 10+nm and doesnt go loose at times when it shouldnt when turning in.
@reviewforthetube6485 thanks for commenting, are you driving on a desk? On a rig for sure, I am loving the VRS now I have the extra headroom, but on a desk these are both good enough to get racing for me!
Gotcha yeah you did say desk my bad!@MichaelSmithRaces
@reviewforthetube6485 I think this is what makes the C5 so interesting because its cheap enough to buy without worrying about the upgrade path, just buy it, enjoy, upgrade in the future if you fancy getting a rig!
@MichaelSmithRaces very true but anytime I mention the c5 on reddit people dog it and call them scammers etc. I almost feel like people make stuff up. I always felt it was good for a 5nm wheelbase and the price cannot be beaten.
Cammus C5 vs Moza R5 Video now up: czcams.com/video/fsx-7FazW4M/video.html
You should try more trail braking to get the car turned in more and for turn 1 try to get more speed into the corner
@siqhamodana7126 yeah much to improve for sure! Thanks for the tips!
I've got mine with a T150 Pro a C5 should be more than enough!
@Alejandro-vp1op thanks I was really struggling with the pedals but yeah for sure much to improve!
Yea those pedals are just really.....cheap. The first thing i did change on my R5 bundle, now i run the Asetek forte pedals, day and night difference.
@sofroz3n wow a great upgrade for sure, I bet the forte pedals are brill! For anyone interested I have a video where I upgrade these pedals with a loadcell mod here: czcams.com/video/Tei0i1iZGp8/video.html
Gratz! You need to lower ffb gain, you got very heavy clipping.
@Xpl0jd1 haha yeah it was maxed wasnt it! This was 100% in software and 80% in ACC because I was testing various cars and things for my review, didnt adjust it back down before jumping into this GT3!
I mean, i got mine on a g27 so i don't see why not? 🙌🏻
@snappedbydan yeah for sure! I have ended up with quite a high end rig now but wanted to start showing more that its not about high end gear to be decent! But like me you can still be incapable with high end gear haha!
@@MichaelSmithRaces Yes mate so true. The biggest misconception in sim racing and actually many hobbies is that the more £££ spent the better we'll be at it. Some people figure out this is wrong in a week, some in a year, some never figure it out and some just don't care because they have plenty of disposable money. We all just go on our own journey but there is no substitute for seat time!
What a beautiful wheel tbh. I have the csl dd with the P1 V2. And apart from not being round atthe bottom, I love the look of tje C5. I want to review the c12 and see if it is better than the csl dd 8nm, and if so, in what areas. Obviously it has more torque
@GregoryShtevensh not sure if you have a rig? I think there would be no benefit over 8nm to 12 because in my testing on a desk vs rig even the C5 is far duller on a desk. The C5 has far exceeded my expectations. Its a great entry point, but I think for you having a csl DD currently cammus does not offer much. They are more targetting people without any existing sim gear. I am planning a video soon on upgrade paths from entry level gear.
@MichaelSmithRaces thank you for that perspective. Makes sense. I don't have a rig, but have a braced desk. I've added my own struts and braces, and screwed the desk to the floor and wall. It doesn't move at all. But that is with 8nm, and I can't say I'd trust 12nm on it either
My ocd could never deal with a cable between rim and base. Id be fretting non stop about it getting tangled or unplugged etc
@robertcarr4172 yeah it seemed really old fashioned to me initially when I was researching, but once you get your head around it, its extremely liberating to be able to use any wheel you want. Well worth the minor inconvenience of occasionally glancing at a cable wrapped around the base! Also wireless options available, but then you have to charge them.
@MichaelSmithRaces i had the thrustmaster tx. And i couldn't race with it. Every time i raced down a straight i would check to see if the collar was fixed. Its annoying man. I need something i can trust
I'm torn between this and the Fanatec 5nm bundle. I like the Mozer wheel more but I don't like the pedals, they look too slippery. I like the pedals from Fanatec more but the wheel looks so cheap.
@buttergolem8584 the Moza pedals are not slippery, I almost always used them with socks without any problem. I would say also that on PC there is no reason why you buy everything from one provider, they just like to make you think its best with a bundle deal, but you can get whichever pedals you like with whichever wheelbase (in most cases) as long as you can plug them both into the PC seperately via USB.

Made the same move. Save money, all performance. The ecosystem is vast but not initially user friendlu because you have to actually think about things. Its not marketed as "VRS Compatible" you have to match specs and open standards. Their wheel is so good I got the pedals as well. Coming from HE Ultimate+, it just works so well. Of course get HRS add ons for all of it to make it better.
