    I have 5 inputs on the back of my r5 plus usb and power. It must have been updated, I know they have released v2's of most bases but wasn't sure if the r5 also got one but that seems to be the case. Worth mentioning to new buyers, since most likely there will be enough slots on the back.

      That's interesting to know!
      I've purchased the R5 in the bundle last year in August, and got just 2 inputs other than usb and power.

      @@TheMash84 yeah it is v1, the new v2 have more inputs and since I still feel it could have both H pattern and Seq shifter inputs it would not surprise me if they make a V3 and that business model really annoys me personally. They should have planned ahead for all this stuff from the start in my opinion. It's not hard figuring out all the peripherals that other brands already have and add ports for them.

    I appreciate your review mate.
    I ordered from Abruzzi and should be @ my doorstep by 5-10th Feb.
    Look forward to it, I have a moza handbrake already, and well worth getting if you're into your rally sims!
    I can't wait to get this on ea WRC and iracing.
    (I did buy the moza hub like a silly sausage, thinking I could connect them via 1 usb to the base😢😅)

      @steam-SMOKEY im 99% sure that you can indeed connect them both to the hub and one USB from hub to PC, but I dont have a hub here to test that... What made you think you cant? You will love it!

    • @steam-SMOKEY
      @steam-SMOKEY Před 4 měsíci

      @MichaelSmithRaces the hub is used to connect other brands to the Fsr wheel, etc. Shame but that's my fault not reading before buying 😅

      @MichaelSmithRaces  Před 4 měsíci

      @steam-SMOKEY let me know how you get on if it doesnt work, but you are correct it allows you to connect most moza products / accessories directly to a PC via USB! So I'm still 99% sure it will do exactly what you want! Good luck hope you enjoy the shifter either way!

    Hey man, great review. Any chance you could measure the length between the mounting holes on each end? I will be mounting this on a shifter plate for the Playseat Trophy and want to see if I'll need to drill new holes in it.

    • @MichaelSmithRaces
      @MichaelSmithRaces  Před 2 měsíci

      @ConjureIsMe its 165mm from middle bolt hole to middle bolt hole. Have a look at the user manual on the moza website because there are also additional holes underneath if you are using a shifter plate then you can bolt up from the bottom aswell!

    Got the SGP from Moza last month, it's great and it is very satisfying!
    The feedback feels very good and clicky, although not super realistic if compared to a real sequential.
    But it's great anyway :D
    They also updated the RS V2 wheel, they replaced the single LED bar with separate LEDS as on the GS V2P.

      @TheMash84 I've never driven a race car, let alone one with a sequential shifter, how does it feel different is it possible to explain? Do you think that other brands can replicate it better? Is it down to the weight of the shift?

    Would you be able to try this on console straight usb separately to the wheel? Would be really revolutionary for the price

    • @MichaelSmithRaces
      @MichaelSmithRaces  Před 4 měsíci +1

      @shawn4063 Moza have not made any comments about this being console compatible unfortunately! The issue is that ps and xbox charge licencing fees. There is no technical reason why this couldnt work, other than their own greed for platform lockin. I have become more and more annoyed with the consoles over time due to this issue, its a real shame!

      @MichaelSmithRaces  Před 4 měsíci

      @k.n.9565 yes you can adjust the tension. I had it pretty much at max, but the noise and the tactile sensation are the same thing so you will be giving up some of the very nice feel when you shift.

    is it possible to silent the shifting click ?

    • @MichaelSmithRaces
      @MichaelSmithRaces  Před 2 měsíci +1

      @mesfigas the click is due to the tactile response, you can make it less clicky, and therefore less tactile when you shift. There is no way to make it still feel a nice and firm click in the hand without also having the audible clicking noise.

    Wouldn't using the leaver as a handbrake make more sense? If you need neutral it's already too late so may as well map it to a button 🤷🏼‍♂️
    But this is definitely going on the shopping list 👌🏼

    • @MichaelSmithRaces
      @MichaelSmithRaces  Před 4 měsíci +1

      @sockracer yep you can use either, I was trying to use the lever for neutral / reverse for testing in various games but I found its not well supported by the games I tried. The lever is an on off switch rather than a % based sensor so it will function exactly the same in game either way.

    I spent about $450 CND for my Thrustmaster TSS handbrake/sequential shifter (plus I also have the TH8A h-pattern/sequential shifter) and it has no buttons. If Moza had this 2 years ago, depending on stock, I may have bought this one, even though it would have messed up my TM ecosystem. But you can't pass up that price. This would be an add-on if I was to upgrade my system so I could have a dedicated h-pattern, sequential and handbrake.

    • @MichaelSmithRaces
      @MichaelSmithRaces  Před 4 měsíci +1

      Yeah @shawndixon4536 Moza have really smashed it with the price to performance on this, as you say it makes more sense to own all three products with dedicated jobs, I will for sure get an h pattern next just for the fun of driving as I dont have a manual road car anymore!

    • @shawndixon4536
      @shawndixon4536 Před 4 měsíci

      @@MichaelSmithRaces I have very little experience in a real manual vehicle, so Assetto Corsa with an h-pattern shifter is so fun. I have paddle shifter and my wheel, so I am not necessarily needing a sequential, plus, I am using 5 shifter plates (or shelves) on my GT Omega Classic, many of which are not in correct places, but I figured a way to have my h-pattern, handbrake and a mini mouse tray on one side, and 2 shelves bottled together as a keyboard tray on the other the other side. So, I am not sure where I would put a dedicated sequential shifter.

  • @tver
    @tver Před 4 měsíci

    Race cars: pull = up and push = down
    This makes shifting congruent with the G-forces experienced during braking or acceleration.
    On certain road cars it is the other way around. Push (fwd) = up. Pull (back) = down.
    The logic there is that the direction of the shift aligns with the direction in which you want to speed up/down, with G-forces being far less of a concern.
    Btw.. do I spy a new pedal set on your rig?.. Review when? ;)

    • @MichaelSmithRaces
      @MichaelSmithRaces  Před 4 měsíci

      @tver thank you! I was sure I had it right but then started doubting myself because it was not the default that someone would immediately comment on the video that I was doing it backwards! :D
      PS: Great guess on the short :)
      WRT pedals: thanks for asking, and that is a keen eye! It will happen, but at the moment it would be very short: "OMG these are AMAZING!"

      The race car method makes way more sense to me, even without the g forces.
      Even if you think about a standard manual, starting in 1st, down is an up shift.

      @MichaelSmithRaces  Před 4 měsíci

      @robertt9342 yes its certainly personal opinion as to what is expensive / cheap etc, I think we are entering a great period in the sim racing space where better and better products are coming out at lower and lower prices which is fantastic to see. Do you have any other comparable shifters in mind that other people might want to research at similar prices?

    Stay Away from Moza - Had had nothing but problems with their products since purchases. I have the H Shifter, Handbrake, KS wheel and Hub and I run a Simucube Pro base. Their hub seems to disconnect and restart always in the middle of races and half the time you have to exit the entire game to reset and your race is over either way. Do yourself a favor and and unless you're stuck with a Moza base, stay away from this ecosystem by a mile!!!!
