I also have been blessed to have grown up in the 80s was a beautiful time and so much great music was available. I had the pleasure of seeing them also at the Sports Arena & Forum in Los Angeles. With my friends I will never forget how they played it was magical. Till the end they will always be my favorite band. Very sad Ben left us too early and Ric. Thanks to you the Cars for all your music & some of my best memories & good times of my life.
I could say I bought the album for the cover but seriously I'd heard the song Candy O first and loved it and of course I already had the first album. Cars really were fabulous musicians.

Great video. Super rare before the Candy O album was recorded. It was all already there. It’s amazing how freaking GOOD they were.
If I'm not mistaken this was recorded at a venue in Topeka, KS before they went to England. They spent some time in Kansas City playing in bars to perfect their stage presence and came to Topeka to rent larger spaces and fine tune their sound. I was a junior in high school and my mom knew them. That's me going whoo! at the end of the video. No one knew who they were yet and a bunch of high schoolers were there having a blast.
Here's another fun fact: the girl on the cover of their first album was a friend I went to school with. She was 16 when the picture was taken. Her mother didn't want her name released and her eye color was changed in the picture because she has huge green eyes and her mom thought she would be recognized. She went to a few radio promotions that summer with the band before school started in the fall.
Also became a voice in a political uprising I believe and she died tragically @@Lisa-pl6gv
