Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban 14Yo Whisky Review S5E23
Tonight on #TBWD the Highland Region Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban 14yo Single Malt Scotch Whisky released at 46% is opened and reviewed. Randy hooks the guys up with a familiar whisky but older still. This Glenmorangie Single Malt allows the guys to show how their palate is up to the test and they thoroughly enjoy this Whisky. With obvious notes of Orange and Chocolate they really seem to enjoy the unexpected ending notes as well. Have you had this or the younger version? Let us know. Cheers!

My favorite Port Cask ever was a Springbank with full port maturation, second place would be Kavlan Solist Port Cask... The old label Quinta Ruban is my favorite Glenmorangie, but have outgrown the distillery and have not tried the new one.

Another fabulous episode… Malcolm needs to start taking notes… 😅 The 14 QR is an excellent dram, and probably the best value in the Glenmo Core Range, in my opinion. Add several drops of it to a dram of Allardice and you will encounter an amazing - and otherwise highly priced by others - blended dram. The Glenmo 10 is now going to 12, and the Nectar D’Or is going to 16. A couple other age upgrades are expected. I guess they are seating on a lot of liquid, bad for cash flow, hopefully good for us fans.

Nice review! I just got myself a bottle of this one. My wife bought in Germany. I'm really looking forward to try it again. I've had 2 bottles before, Batch 1 from 2010 and batch 8 from 2014. I think it was in 2018 that they change from "Batch" to "Limited Edition". It's a mix of peated (40ppm) and unpeated ex-bourbon barrels and ex oloroso sherry casks and it's often a bit higher ratio of the sherry casks, all according to the distillery. I've had quite a few different Bunnahabhain over the years, never disapointed, so far. Cheers

Thank you again for sharing your wisdom and insight. I have heard many people say that would be a great summer pour or this I prefer on a crisp fall evening. Few, actually very few, explain why they say that. Some do say that since it is lighter on the palete, it would be nice in the summer. However, you guys have given a scenario that might be in any season, why a certain whisky would be perfect for a certain situation. You have paired this Port Askaig with certain weather conditions and with a certain cookie. I would like to see other whiskies paired with weather conditions or social events.

    • @TBWD

I have a 2 pronged question. Is that a grouping of Benromach that starts your collection? A special distillery for you or just "had to start somewhere"? And if not what is No. 1? No rum notes from me this week. But it's my birthday next Friday so I'll no doubt have something to wrote about then from my own collection. Have a good week.

Currently the Benromach 15 is bottle #1, but for how long: nobody knows. The families of bottles move around as we add and subtract expressions...Laphroaig used to hold that spot but had to move due to the number of bottles...(I have had the 15yo Benromach, and it is great, btw). Happy Early birthday!! 🥃🥃

Hey, just talked about Glen Scotia! - Lovely stuff they make, always a nice substitute to Springbank or Kilkerran.

We have a few festival and single cask expression of Glen Scotia here that we are looking forward to trying. We just got a late 90's Springbank here....the nose is wonderful. Cheers!

Totally not jealous about that 90s springbank... that must have been very expensive. Cant get any sprinkbank other than the 10YO without paying outrageous prices here... I'm stocking up when I get to Campbeltown 😂

Thank you for letting me into your haven and allowing me experience the pour without nosing or tasting the dram. I have had the unpeated Glen Scotia 15 Year, which is a delightful Scotch. I recall the floral notes, similiar to a Lowland Scotch, but not as light. Ah, the art of distilling is ever fun to explore. Cheers!
