At 47 after perusing "my passion" opening a few moderately successful business, having one grown independent child. I realize that health is number 1, without it nothing else matters. Then, peace of mind is crucial for your health, so money is important, at least savings, investing. In short I live in a mediocre country, and now do Uber, I work when is good and have time, I live in spartan mode, and invest all my excess income for peace of mind. Life takes many turns, being in constant anxiety is the worst waste of time and a thief of joy.

I chose Nursing because I want to open my own healthcare business and the fact that you can do so much with a nursing degree. As far as student debt I paid it off by living in my moms house and focusing on paying the small amounts first then the large amounts. I didn’t have to pay rent at that time and I’m so thankful for my mom. I didn’t want to live at my parents house but I was on a mission paying my student loans off. The only debt I have is my mortgage as well but knocking my debts and saving money/investing is way much more important to me.

Thank you for sharing your stories with us. In my early 20's, I used to have issues with impulse control, discipline, and fidelity. I guess you could say I was kind of a "dog". 😞😩😭Then I turned 28 yrs old, and God & I discovered each other. He completely cured me of all the issues I previously had. I've never had any problems with fidelity since. I'm going on 14 years of solid fidelity, and I'm so proud to say that. I will lean on God for the rest of my life. He has been my salvation and complete total peace. Every man in the last decade that I've dated has left me, cheated on me, raped me, or dogged me out because of my inherited disease (except my current boyfriend.) But God will FOREVER be by my side. No matter what, he will NEVER forsake me. I will love God for all eternity the rest of my life. Everybody can exit my life (including my father & boyfriend), and I KNOW I'll still be ok alone because I have God in my life. God is the light of my life. 🙏🙏🙏I used to have problems being alone in my 20's. For the last decade, my entire personality has shifted to where I prefer my solitude. This isolation has allowed me to fully discover myself down to my core/roots and become closer to God. I can learn and grow both mentally and spiritually, in my solitude. I know myself now better than I have my ENTIRE FREAKING LIFE. Getting older may involve my looks fading a bit, becoming slower and wiser, but also knowing DEEPLY all of my values/intricacies/standards. I have boundaries that I NEVER HAD my entire life. I set my own boundaries with myself and other people. I have zero cares about appeasing other people. I'm completely secure within myself. I've definitely made mistakes in my life and I'm certainly far from perfect, but at least I've learned from my mistakes and reacted differently every time. When your mental and spiritual health are aligned and healthy, your financial health improves. I'm a firm believer that all 3 categories are intertwined.

I have a pension but I also fully fund a Roth, an HSA and put 10k a year in my 403B at work. So with a pension, a good pension at that, I will be set for retirement--I hope. If you don't have an HSA I highly recommend that plus a Roth outside of work.

Next video you gotta tell us what investments you're invested in the 401k! Wife and I also have a Roth 401k and we were in a target date fund, but recently switched it all to S&P 500 index fund. Same for our kids 529. Higher return than the target date fund.

Roth IRA > Roth 401k by doing this you can invest an extra $7,000 a year in roth dollars on top of the 401k max contribution and you have more selection of where you invest your money. I would also recommend a HSA (triple tax advantage).

Okay you need to find a way to vent out or destress. Tbh i have bd spending habits. Ive hit rock bottom.

Great advice! Did you know If you leave the company fired or quit you Can cash out the money you put in said 401k. Also they tell you there is a penalty to pull before 59 1/2 that in fact is not true! I've done it 3 times never once did I recieve a penalty! Now full disclosure those 3 times all under 100k! When you cash out a 401k they ask you if you want them to tax it the 20% or you can pay said tax when you file at the end of the year. Also when your account reaches 10k you can transfer it into Real money Gold and Silver and actually take possession of said Treasure! Now that's what I did and I have alot of "Treasure" to leave my Family! I mean you cant take it with you! 😊

That's ok. I think they recommend spending 5% on vacations each year. So I've set our annual goal as $10k. 10% is ok because your house is paid, you have a newborn baby, and your job is stressful. Also, you're still maxing out 401k contributions. If you're doing that, you can spend your guilt free money however you dang well want. 😆😆

They aren't guided through alot of this, because I think the financial community doesn't take them seriously when discussing financial planning. The truly big BEAUTIFUL benefits to the 401k is that you are dollar cost averaging your purchase of the stock market (you're buying the ups and downs of the market), and the other benefit is that it AUTOMATICALLY comes out of your paycheck without even thinking about it. It simplifies everything. You're guaranteed to FORCE YOURSELF to save. These 2 things will make you an automatic millionaire.

The good thing is....the stock market is very heavily down right now (July 2024). It's pretty volatile presently. Buy the dip, Fritz. My portfolio has lost like 10-15% this month... I'm down a TONNNN of money. 🤣 But I have 60% in the S&P500 and 40% invested in Meta, Amazon, Netflix, Nvidia, and Microsoft stock. I'll forever stay invested. I BELIEVE in the stock market. It WILL rebound. I've been investing for the last 20 years. I started when I was 20 years old. A co-worker at Circuit City came up to me and told me he was going to give me the best advice of my life. I took him seriously and I started investing. Now, 20 years later, I'm 60% of my way to a being a net worth millionaire. 70% of my way to being a millionaire with assets.

This content is all 100% accurate. I found the BEST AND EASIEST WAY to increase your 401k percentage, is to bump it up every year you get a raise. I increase it equally to the amount of my raise. If I get a 1% raise, I increase my contribution by 1%. If I get a 2% raise, 3% raise, and so on. Then my paycheck feels the same. If you do this, you'll be able to get up to 15% in like 7 years. 15% is the gold standard of where we want to START getting to. (These numbers are good general rule of thumb goals.) Ideally, we should all be striving to save 15-25%. 10% should be the bare minimum. (All these percentages include your company match) But ALWAYS START SAVING. Just. Freaking. Start. The Dang.Thing. 😂 Start when you're 18, the earlier the better. Start today. Just start. No point crying over spilt milk. I agree that EVERYBODY should strive to AT LEAST get the match. Because that's an AUTOMATIC 100% return on your money. You won't get that kind of return anywhere.
