When you say it was a mess, what do you mean? What happens if you click on the cloud icon in the top right of LrC, and when the dialogue box comes up, hit Alt (windows) or Option (Mac) and click View Sync Status on Web. Anything look odd there?

@@richardchubbUK By mess I refer that my previous syncs included duplicated photos, and were not done appropriately, and that was probably incorrectly done by myself, therefore I proceeded to remove everything and resync the collection I wanted but then it happened what I explained. What I did to continue with what I was doing is to create a new catalog out of my "portfolio folder" in LrC. I opened the new catalog in LrC and then synced to Lr, which it worked, but again, 9 photos are missing. I thought some of the photo might be duplicated and checked which ones were virtual copies, but I counted only 6 virtual copies in LrC and don't tie up to the 9 missing in Lr. Is there a possibility my catalogs are corrupted? Or am I doing something wrong? Could it be that when I deleted photos in Lr somehow it instructed LrC to not allow sync anymore from that original folder? Does that work that way? For now I will continue with the work but if you can shed some light would be great.

Do you mean that are already on your iPhone Camera roll? You could set up a Synced folder in Lr Mobile, then sync this to Cloud, and make sure this syncs to LrClassic? Haven't tried it, but logically it should work. Maybe!! :)

Yes, there is Lightroom Classic (LrC), which is a desk top version. Lightroom Creative Cloud (LR CC), relied totally on their cloud storage until recently, when you could access local storage from LR CC. But you need to use their Cloud Storage to share across devices. Hope that kind of helps!!

This video is to resume syncing Lightroom Classic with Cloud, which I accept will then sync to mobile. An obvious thing to check, so please excuse me, is to make sure you have Syncing turned on on your devices, and they are signed into the same account? Apologies if that is stating the obvious

@richardchubbUK when you open up lightroom. Do you go through the lightroom application or do click on your catalog shortcut?

@@ZachGroney I have the shortcut/icon in my Dock at the bottom of the screen which I click on, and it opens LrC and my catalogue. To be sure, I just navigated to my Catalogue, and it opened the application as normal.

So if I make a folder for rack day the camera will automatically put the pictures in that folder?

@@debrajames-bailey1570 Hi, not sure what you mean by Rack Day? But, no, you have to chose the folder you want to put the photos in. So on Monday morning, you select Monday folder, Tuesday morning, you then change to Tuesday folder etc. Not automatic (although that would be good!) but then when you view your card you have XX folders for XX days.

Hi Rob, that is strange, there is no external power, and they just appeared, and the iPad is an Air 5th gen, so nothing particularly special. I have just plugged everything in again, and they come up straight away in the Locations section of the Files app. This next question is strange, but so please don't take anything from it, other than that it has happened to me but....one of my USB C connectors cannot fit snugly into the iPad port due to the case it is in. It feels like it is in, but on closer inspection, it wasn't. This only happened recently, so not sure if this is happening to you. Other than that, I am afraid I am not really sure....Richard

@@richardchubbUK Solved thanks to a sales rep at our local Apple Store. The Sandisk had an ExFat format (compatible with both Mac and Windows), which apparently was not recognised by the iPad. At the suggestion of the rep, I reformatted it to a Mac-only format which did the trick.

@@robzaagman9678 Great you have solved the problem. I use both Mac and occasionally a windows laptop. My Sandisk is formatted as ExFAT too, and is recognised so that is strange. In any case, super happy you have managed to get it sorted...

Possibly, but I can only think of two ways off the top of my head. LrC and Apple iCloud. LrC as per this video. Apple via export from Apple photos. The only other way I guess could be with AirDrop, but that is not automated. I am sorry I can't help further.

Since I'm talking about approx. 30,000 photos and videos, that is likley too much for any web-based back-and-forth data communication over the Internet - and I don't think Apple AirDrop works with Windows PC laptops because it is designed to work with Apple only AFAIK.

I do a lot of timelapse work, mostly of plant growth and star movement. Never less than 900 frames, sometimes a few thousand. I've been using an external 8TB disk for all storage for a long time. LR is 'aware' of where the RAW files are kept and defaults to the external drive for all catalogs and exports. I also use LR to produce those timelapse videos. These serve as a preview before using a different application. They can also be individually very big (up to 4Gb). When exporting these timelapse videos, LR will use the internal drive as a work-area before deleting them after export. Mostly, this is not an issue save, I'd had occasion when the internal drive has approached capacity. Had I been keeping my catalogs and exports on the internal drive, then I would have run out of space. I'm trying to find a workaround for this. Performance? On individual edits, no difference. For synchronizing a few thousand frames, less than a minute. You don't have to wait for all the thumbnail/preview images to update. That appears to be a separate workstream in LR. Been working this way for over a year with no issues. I can back up the external drive easily. Also, I prefer to use the (more expensive) internal SDD for static files such as programs. For more volatile data, I use the external drive.
