  • Here are my first thoughts on the Canon RF 70-200 f2.8 lens, where I show unedited RAW files, straight from the camera.
Recently purchased, it is smaller, lighter and more compact than my previous EF 70-200.
Here are my immediate thoughts with a full review and comparison to the EF version to come!

Nice video, am currently using R6 with RF 85mm f1.2 for general purpose photo/video of family, I was thinking of selling my 85 f1.2 & buying this rf 70-200. Do you think this is a better general purpose lens?

First off, thanks for watching. In terms of your question, it is hard I would think to compare these lenses. While the 70-200 will give you a greater range, and be ok for portraits, and some sports etc, it would be harder to just use as a walk about lens, but if it is for work use, the it does give you a lot more range.
It also depends on what you shoot, as you will enjoy the 1.2 results much better than the f2.8 (although the 2.8 is definitely a great lens).
For me, personally, I shoot a lot of indoor sports, (swimming, gymnastics etc) so the 70-200 is a better lens for me. If I did mainly portraits, then I would probably opt for the 85mm 1.2
Please bear in mind I have never used the 85mm 1.2, so I am basing this answer on a purely practical use of focal lengths and apertures. Not sure if this has helped at all!! :)
