I do remember walking into the mall in the 1980’s. Their was a sound of rushing water coming from a water fountain that would shoot up in the air in the middle of the mall, and you could smell that water smell as you walked by and heard like a water fall sound. Also. Their use to bee a car or truck sitting in the mall as well. Also. Someone would bee at the mall playing a piano as you walked. Also. Drinks were so much bigger than what you get now. A medium today is a small or what was considered a small back then. A large drink would bee really giant. The medium drink that was back then was now in today’s world back then the medium is today’s large. The mall was just fun back then and many people would hang out there furring a Friday after school or work or on the weekends. The mall would bee packed. You might even find a carousel in the mall. And a lot of the stores did have ride on things that kids could ride on. Not just at the mall but in other stores as well. Toys rs had a ride and Payless shoes at a helicopter ride that would fit a lot of kids. Dairy Queen had a frog ride that would go around in circles. White elephant had an elephant ride. These were all for kids though.

My brother - 6 and me 5, dried off, fell asleep in the back of van...awoke to this horrible scrathy pain! our underwear had solidified, like a cast, from all the salt! Had to my ass was scratched up pretty bad for a week! lol Sorry long post My family, all six of us, not poor, but money - went to Catholic School. We basically camped everywhere, anywhere, ll over the country from 1975 to 1993. From DC to LA all points in between, in our 1978 Plymouth Voyager Super Van, witj seating for 12! My dad took out the last two rows of seats, added a storage box and mattress...and there was room for all six of us, and a table, and a black and white tv, and the atari 2600...playing FOUR player Warlords with my three old brothers in the middle of the nowhere in Utah or Arizona... During the day we'd be lucky to catch something bigger than a trout while he taught me how to gut and clean a fish. But he knew I wasn't a fan of having only fish while spending the days at the campground, so he brought along burger patties and hot dogs to cook on the camp grill. Didn't want to risk my video game handhelds to get stolen so I just left them home with my mom. My family tried camping once. It rained, the campsite flooded and we spent awhile in a hotel lobby where I watched the land before time. From that point on it was always a hotel.

After one miserably failed family camping attempt in the woods, the rest of my camping adventures were with a nice tent in our enclosed backyard! My dad was a deer hunter and was very familiar with the woods but that wasn’t enough to make up for the rest of us it seemed in that doomed camp trip. But I really enjoyed the tent in the back yard quite a bit!! Thanks Jon and gang as this was a lot of fun!

Spring 1981 Cub Scout trip. We made a pact to not eat anything unless we caught and cleaned it ourselves. There were boasts about going out and snaring rabbits or making a bow and arrow from scratch and getting a deer but most of us just ended up catching trout from a well stocked lake. Those of us lucky enough to have Dads or Grandpas teach us the proper way to clean our catch (blechh) had no problem but there were two or three who were too grossed out and we never let them forget it. To this day they get teased 🤣

We went to the “Congressional Roller Rink” in Rockville Maryland. It was housed in an old airplane hangar left over from the long closed airport of the same name. In a booth overlooking the rink, a woman played a Hammond organ, providing an accompaniment of skating music. Good times on a Friday night!

You forgot in the early or mid 90s there was a cartoon based off of HBO s Tales from the crypt...called Tales from the crypt keeper ..it was based off the rated R tv series and featured the crypt keeper presenting watered down scary kid friendly stories and tales with a nice twist just like the tv show. I used to watch both back in the 90s and thought the cartoon was ok but since i was already used to the HBO Horror tv show i morely gravutated and preferred the HBO adult version even though i must've been atleast 10 or 11 years old while watching them at the time during the early 90s

    • @RetroDaze

We love ‘Tales From The Crypt’! In fact, the Cryptkeeper himself has appeared multiple times on our channel in skits we performed for Halloween as part of our ‘RD’s Retro Detention’ series from a few years back (featuring the actual voice actor reprising his role - John Kassir!). But since TFTC wasn’t a film (until later, and the cartoon was not based on those films) it did not qualify for our list in this video.
