Same, tbh. I sat outside on my porch while an EF4 got within a mile of me a couple weeks ago, and I just watched it dance across the sky
this just goes to show how inaccurate the enhanced Fujita scale is vs the older Fujita scale. 180mph winds is an EF4. This is not EF4 damage here, not even close.
Y’all some beasts, what an experience to see that eye
I swear I love standing out in storms it’s my favourite thing to do I’ve never experienced a hurricane or tornado before but I have thunderstorms and I love them
Why would anyone willingly take their boat or yacht to a storm like that? That doesn’t make any sense.
These boats are there year round. Some of the owners are local some in the US. Most hurricanes miss but every now and then they get close. This was the worst Hurricane to hit the northern Bahamas in modern times. I was here for Cat 3 Irene in 2011. They shook it off in a few days.
Thank you all for watching !
Thank YOU for this amazing content 🍤🦐🦐
Nice. Video
gotta love how he comes back to thank everyone
no problem
Great video!
Wow. Such an awful storm. I was due west of Dorian in Palm Beach County and this one had me scared. We were spared but it was heartbreaking watching this storm churn over the Bahamas for days.
US was lucky this time. Thanks for watching.
Americans love their oversized cardboard and plywood houses
The Bahamas are not a part of the united states.
You are both correct
Very cool video! Thank you for risking yourself, to bring us this amazing footage! It just boggles my mind to think about the energy behind such an event... Worst thing that happens here in germany is a really powerful thunderstorm with local flooding every couple of years. We do have Orkans, which are basically small hurricanes or at least somewhat similar to them but they only occur every couple of decades, so this footage is a sight to behold! Again, thanks for this experience and you defenetly have a new sub :)
I was born in Wiesbaden :)
Amazing footage!
Thanks! Working on another , hope to roll it out before too long
I appreciate the way you tell a story and share these unreal experiences. Thanks for doing what you do and stay safe!
thank you and thanks for watching
that is absolutely beautiful
How much hours did the eye last
about 1.5 hrs because it was slowing down and actually stalled west of us.
Im so lucky not to be in a place that gets hurricanes!
910 mb? "tornado laughes in barometric pressure" * Look what a hurricane has to do to reach a fraction of my power!
ah yes but a hurricane just has to get close, thanks for watching
I love your voice! I also like how you just met someone and tagged along on a boat! People are so nice!
on that flight someone is usally going to Hope and it was because of the hurricane no doubt
What did you think of Hurricane Otis?
I should have been there but the weather forecast was a bust. Plus I was in Cabo for a hurricane, tired and was looking forward to getting home. I'll be ready next time :)
and then trump said "we got lucky, it could have hit us" while showing an altered map of this storms trajectory... after it destroys bermuda... oof
incredible!
Yea, it's not that the wind is blowing, but what the wind is blowing, getting hit by a flying semi, isn't going to care about how many sit-ups you can do.
I know this vid’s over 10 years old but it’s helping me find ways to research waterspout potential here in New Orleans when I go by the lake to watch them. I’ll leave an update or reply to this if the tools & research help me with forecasting them
This is exactly my kind of adventuring
Hurricane *Strong winds* Also everyone: *Driving like nothing is happening*
they say it´s gonna be a really tough hurricane season this year.. im kind of scared to be honest.. I can notice how it is becoming unpredictable.. and hurricanes more powerful.. her ein the pacific we almost get hit by Patricia. thankfully it went to the north and it was huge so sierra madre weakened it before the eye landfal. But Otis hit us really hard here in Acapulco . If we get hit this year again im definately moving to the north of México. Hope people in the atlantic be safe and prepared
The water in the Main Development Region MDR are already Aug temperatures. That is trouble is the storms don't curve out early.
Amazing video! Thank you so much for making this!
Thank you, glad you liked it.
Oversized tornado with F4 winds, is what it reminds me of. Praying those strong ones stay out there as fish storms. Awesome footage, I know Reed Timmer would love to get footage like that, crazy as he seems.
Reed has a photo of this eye at home :) I sent out many eye pics poster size to some chasers.
@@JimEdds Glad everyone made it, hoping for no repeats. Recently moved to FL myself, near Tallahassee. Bet Reed loved that pic.
The striations in the eye wall clouds is just jaw dropping. Can you feel the pressure in your ears in the eye? It's so wild that it's the eye of the storm where the pressure differential stabilizes and it just calms down. Truly impressive footage, my friend.
sometimes you can or just before going into the air or when a strong burtst of wind hits you . . . your ears pop.
12:50 for those looking for what the title says the video is about.
but it's a great story too :)
@@JimEddsdont worry bud i watched the whole thing

Disaster tourism. What a time to be alive.
indeed, the journey is the reward. Thanks for watching.
Women are like hurricanes. You marry them when you are in the eye..
Weird ass comment
My name🤣
I was on vacation with my family In Orlando when I was caught in this hurricane. I must’ve been 11 years old. Can’t remember much of during the storm (as I am 30 years old now) but all I CAN remember was being in the bathtub the whole time because I guess it was supposed to be the “safest place”.
Orlando was the intersection of 3 Hurricanes in 2004. Charley Frances and Jeanne. Even inland one is not out of reach for a hurricane.
I was in Orlando for this storm too! I couldn’t believe how bad it was considering how far inland it is.
Amazing video
I don’t think it was only a cat 4 that looks like a cat 5 hurricane
and the strongest wind I had the camera turned off so I could run out of there and get back to my car.
To me Charley was definitely a cat 5 at least 156 sustained winds
this is such an unbelievable video
thank you and thanks for watching
EPIC!!!
glad you thought so.
@@JimEdds No problems, mate!!! And also I DID NOT KNEW I commented here before 1 year ago. But that's how you know this video is good when coming here and commenting for a second time accidently!!!!
Typhoon Yolanda (Halyan) survivor here from Tacloban city I was young when it happened
This guy is literally visiting tacloban to only see a super typhoon 😅
I go where the story will be because I have the expertise to do it safely and can get footage out which helps with where the aid should go. Partly because of my footage the US sent the US George Washington Carrier Group near Hong Kong to the area. They brought in water and food via helicopter especially to remote areas around Tacloban. I'm not on vacation. That said Tacloban is a lovely City. I've been to the Philippines many times, not all for storms too. Thanks for watching.

Never knew the eye could be that big...great adventure
I am thinking Palm trees must be the toughest species of tree. They never seem to uproot. Amazing resilience!
Great video Jim! I was here when this storm hit! It badly damaged the Great Causeway Bridge & the Wyndham Resort Hotel. I also know the couple featured in this video who got married.
Thanks Lisa, I wonder if they have seen the video? It was my first trip to Bermuda and wow what a lovely Island. Reminds me of Guam where I spent some of my youth. Whenever I go back I call my cabbie and we get together. Last time was in 2014. Fabian was a solid 120 mph storm and I think the worst since the 80s Emily? The Wyndham, I wanted to stay there! LOL and go swimming. Great memories of Bermuda. Thanks for watching. I want to go back for R&R one day. Edit, lol I actually have 2 Fabian videos, one in SD and the other HD. Here is the HD version: czcams.com/video/SmNaSU-vJAI/video.htmlsi=0BUg0PV-V4N_x43j
From the footage I saw hurricane.Michael was much more violent than this one.
The winds were higher in Dorian. My shelter boarded up all the windows, unless you opened the door it was pitch black inside. If you opened the door as I did none time, it swung open and tore the hinges and we couldn't get it shut. That was not good. I wanted to be over on the other side where I was for Irene 2011, it had more shooting spots and I could roam on foot easily. It was too dangerous to travel across the cove in the morning and no one was gonig to risk it to take me over there. I don't blame them. I tried hard getting over there but only late at night did I read online the Rec Center was open for evacuees. It was too bad I couldn't roam around on the populated side. The footage would have been one of a kind. So I missed the worst of Dorian for safety concerns. Sometimes you take what you can get and count your blessings - I might have been injured on the other side or worse. Michael's pressure was no where near 910mbars.
I understand now and thank you. During the eyewall of hurricane Michael they got footage from hotel lobbies and from the vantage point of their cars. I'll guess that if Michael was of the intensity of Dorian, people wouldn't take the risk of being in their cars or standing near hotel lobby entrances lobbies to get good footage. I have read that after 100 mph the wind pressure on surfaces goes up exponentially. So now I can reasonably conclude that 180mph-Dorian was a vastly different animal than 160mph- Michael.
@@Walter-xx6yp it's really hard to estimate windspeed just by looking. At some point in the extreme storms, cat 5 + the rain is so heavy you get a solid white. Both Michael and Dorian were cat 5 so both extreme winds. You have to balance risk vs reward when in a Cat 5. In Dorian, you were stuck there for up to a week, in some places without fresh water. When they evacuated the outer islands east of Great Abaco you could only take a backpack. No luggage or camera gear like a TV crew would normally have.
I was in Orlando visiting when this hit. I just turned 20. I am from the midwest and told myself I'd never dare be caught in a hurricane. Well, I did! 😂 it missed Tampa (as it was supposed to go) and hit Orlando. I even had a disposable camera that I took photos in the eye.
