After living one month in Bali in the Lost Creators House, I moved to Ubud where I started feeling the travel burnout. It was time to go home and have a break.

6 months ago I started traveling full time as a digital nomad, freelancing my way from one country to another. It took a lot of courage to actually make this step and I initially thought that maybe I do not like the lifestyle and might be back at home after 6 months. After volunteering with worldpackers at the boarding school for 3,5 weeks, I was ready to leave and to get some sleep. As we did not have AC at the school and it was one of the hottest times in Cambodia, it was more and more difficult to get quality sleep. And while I am used to function on quite less sleep, it accumulated and it took me one full week to get out of this state. Also. Yep, I over...

Ha ha, I walked da nang to hoi an along the beach front, took me forever!
It does not feel so much logically, but if it’s hot (and I was also still little sick) then it’s a whole different story for sure 🤭
I am glad you are back home and safe.
Thanks! Yes and appreciating home a lot more for sure 🎊
All travelers get this oftentimes so you did the absolute right thing! Sending you big hugs from here and hope to see you on the road again 😊❤
Thanks! Yep, it’s a very common thing while traveling. The interesting thing is that once it hits you, there is nothing you can do ☀️
Such a wonderful interaction between you and the Vietnamese learning English. So meaningful
Thank you 😊
I hope you will return someday, and at that time I hope it will be summer. You may not know that Drammen is the town in Norway with the most amount of summer days (days with 20+ degrees). It's so nice, warm and green here during summer. :D
Thanks! I have been to Norway during summer also and it was beautiful 😊
That workspace looked awesome. :D How did you end up in the small town of Drammen? :) Why there and not Oslo for example?
One of my best friends from Estonia lives there and therefore I visited him 😊
The second part from Pa Lad to Doi Su Tep, I slipped and fell twice on the way back down hike, but it was a great fun. Cheers.😁👍
O no! I hope that you were OK! It really is a great hike 💛

You got to Nong Khiew but did not go up to the viewpoint? It suppose to be beautiful views of town, the river and mountains.
Yes, I did not do this viewpoint, but it is amazing for sure ☀️
Great video Janika. I have a question if you decide to do another Q&A in the future. How has thru hiking influenced your packing decisions for your extended travels in Asia? It looks like you are travelling with carry on luggage only. How have you found that experience?
Hello! Thanks for a good question :) I can answer here as the next Q&A will take some time. I used to travel for work for 10 years to different countries in Africa, Asia and Europe and very quickly I learnt that I actually only need one small backpack. So I never had any other luggage than 22-30 litres backpack on my worktrips. Also, when hiking, I try to pack lightly and of course the thru hike took it to the next level as I actually bought light gear and saved a lot of weight like that. It was almost ridiculous how few things I carried by the end of my PCT hike. After the thru hike I realised even more how few things we actually need and how much easier it makes the life. So I have been traveling for 6 months with my 22 litre backpack and it's great. I can easily move around and walk everywhere if I want, I am not the "slave" of my big bag which has to be dropped off somewhere first. Also, they flights are way cheaper, faster and stress free with carry on only. However, I am bringing everything I need I am carrying even several luxury items. In general, I have too much stuff and will be sending some back to Estonia with my friend from Singapore very soon. Once you start traveling with carry on only, it is pretty difficult to go back to loads of luggage :)
Love your vids as always and glad that you’re back on the creative mood! Thanks for giving different and new viewpoints about this side in Bali. I feel like that is something that people haven’t mentioned much in terms of the digital nomad world over there 🎉
Thanks! Yes, it has been an experience. Overall it seems that a lot of people want to live in Bali and their remote work goal is to live here. But I understood that I love traveling 😊 so I keep going
"the moment I left the house, I got back my creativity" This is true almost every time with a similar issue 🤔
Yep, it is 😀
Hello sir, Hope you are well .I have already visited your CZcams channel. and analysed the videos. Your videos are great & very nice but your video SEO and optimization are very low. This is a big problem. Because of this your video is not getting views, likes, comments, subscribers and is not going viral .Video uploading is very important for SEO and properly promotion. CZcams channels need SEO and video promotion. If you want, I can create a report on your channel growth . I am waiting for your response. Thank you

Temperature depends a lot from the season, in February it was pretty hot, 30+ degrees. However, March and April are even hotter.
No offense the sign say no bikini top right 😂 but i guess just enjoy. How deep are the water? Thank you sharing i am visiting laos shortly. Take care!
Thanks for watching. I was not swimming there / wearing bikinis, but yes, a lot of the people were ignoring different signs there. Water did not look too deep to me.

İt remind me Estonia strangly ( i am from Estonia too , living in Turkey ) , same calm and peaceful. Only no temples . İ love beautiful Estonia and miss so much , especially estonian summers ❤.
I think that’s why it low key felt so nice there… Turkey must also be amazing, I have only been to Istanbul, but have heard only great things from people who have traveled more in Turkey 😊
Looks like more foreigners than local Thai's. Bummer
That might be the case in the city centre and at the night market, but if you step out of these areas, there are more locals. However, why is it a bummer? There are many places in the world that are popular among the tourists and also that can take advantage of this situation.

I knew already about the Thailand-Cambodia border ground entry point, maybe memories about times of border-runs. There are also gambling sites here and there. Not nice for a "walker". If I have to visit Cambodia I will go by plane and stay near the Angkhor Wat or Thon places. I need a purpose now for visiting countries : is it chill-relax or tourist sight-seeing style ?
Thanks for the comment. Great that you have developed your traveling style. For me the purpose at the moment is to explore the region and different countries :)
Phew you wanna lighten up a little. You are very lucky and privileged to be taking long travel holidays and escaping the cold and drab of some European countries.

What name that bad hotel
It was Sailomyen Cafe & Hostel. The hostel was actually good, but just be very careful when booking any of the tours/ bus or tickets with them.
Maybe because you read some books or information about Cambodia from somewhere out of Cambodia they don’t want tourists to come here
Thanks for watching! The only thing I read before arrival was about the corrupt land border officials. Is there some book or info saying that Cambodians "do not want tourists here"? If yes, can you share me the liks, would be interesting to read. Actually after I left Siem Reap, I have had a really good time in Phnom Penh and I have met a lot of nice people here.
challenges... what a load of rubbish... I guess you have to inject drama to get some "watches"... the border is really easy.. the biggest problems are always THAILAND with it's huge queues... "pushy sales woman"... what a load of cheap BS... does this foolish presenter have "I am a fool stamped on her forehead"... this is a complete load of cheap BS... I know Siem Reap... and spend most of my time in Northern Cambodia where in 6 months I only saw one other White face.... if you get the right VISA on line, you just hand your passport to an agent and get a visa for months... I just get a 6 month multiple entry visa... a van/taxi journey of 200 kms... very comfortable big chair, air con... US$ 9... when in Siem Reap, I stay in an older colonial style hotel, big rooms, air con... $15 a night and that includes breakfast - and very well positioned.. this woman doesn't know what she is talking about.. talk about ignorance.. her comments about Ankor Wat.. if she knew anything, which she clearly does not... there are temples in all parts of Cambodia where there are few visitors...
Thanks for watching and sharing your experience. Before coming to Cambodia, I read a lot of different stories and watched different CZcams videos by travelers who entered Cambodia from the same border point as me or also from the border near Don Det and their experiences were pretty bad (corruption and officers yelling at people who do not pay the bribes) and I was even considering flying in as the border crossing is easier this way. My friend crossed another land border a week later and she had a bad experience (paying bribes). Corruption happens (especially) at the land borders of Cambodia and it's well known among the travelers. My friend who stayed in Siem Reap had similar experience to mine in this town and she left earlier and is also leaving Cambodia earlier. Not all people have the same experiences in the same places. Quite a lot of travelers actually recommended that I skip Cambodia at all, but I am glad that I did not, because now in Phom Penh I have met a lot of sincere and amazing people and I love it here. Good that you found a 15 USD accommodation, I also found a nice cheap accommodation, Siem Reap has a great choice of different accommodation. I also took the 8 USD bus for 7 hours and it was great and comfortable. About Angkor Wat, - I think the only thing I said was that it's so well known, that some people also fly into Cambodia just to visit Angkor Wat and I think it's just a great way to show how special this site is.
hello new friend here, thats awsome that you walk to places. stay healthy.😊
Thanks for watching! Yep, I love walking 🧡
Wow what an introduction to Cambodia! The first city seems so rough as far as the pushiness. But Phnom Penh sounds much more chill. Glad it won’t all be like the first day - you’re smart to go off the beaten path, so to speak
Thanks for commenting! The first day was really little bit too much, but now I am loving it here in Phnom Penh and will definitiely show you also this side of the country.
Greetings from Switzerland 😊
Thanks! Greetings back from Phnom Penh, Cambodia 😊
Seems like a real bargain for eight euros. Lovely scenery for the whole trip, acceptable standard and cheap ticket. What more could you ask for?
Yes, it was. The third class was otherwise really nice, maybe little bit limited legroom, but the trip was really nice. I was trying to find an alternative to pretty expensive flights from Laos to Cambodia and overlanding saved me over 100 EUR for sure.
What camera are you using?
