I’m glad your day turned around but wow what a comedy of errors to begin! The slow check-in story sounds like a tv episode 😂. Anyway, that area and monument looks nice - open area and not too crowded.

It was Sailomyen Cafe & Hostel. The hostel was actually good, but just be very careful when booking any of the tours/ bus or tickets with them.
