Thank you so much. I’m one year post sepsis and wish I’d known what to expect following discharge from the hospital. I couldn’t understand why I was experiencing so many changes in my entire system. Your podcast is a great blessing to sepsis survivors.
Great information and advice please don't ever stop you are doing a great job thank you so very much
She is very accurate in describing the post sepsis symptoms may the Lord Jesus heal your body of this illness
Thank you for sharing this very difficult process in your life .😮
Did u have weakness and aching no life In you and my mind going blank
After getting out of the hospital with septic shock, no doctors prepared me for what life would be like afterwards, the septic delirium, the freezing and sweating, the bad decision-making and constant brain fog was insane. Thank you for this video. No one to hold me. I was gonna lose my hair in my nails. No one told me I was gonna be falling all over the place because my muscles suddenly weak, or that I have no emotional regulation and a bad memory lol thank you for this video from the bottom of my soul!!!!
Has anyone had a problem with their body retaining fluid after recovery. It's been 15 months since sepsis. My face gets tight, my upper legs have pockets of fluid, I discovered fluid retention throughout my body. Lately, I feel it's harder to breathe. Im not sure if it's anxiety or panic attack related. I've developed raynauds as well. I would deeply appreciate anyone who had sepsis to share information with me.
I had sepsis and pneumonia 4 weeks ago. I lost a lot muscle and lung capacity. I am back to work and rebuilding my body. PSS I never heard of it. Must a British thing. But Sepsis and Pneumonia will not define the rest of my life! You too will heal.
Thank you for the information on post sepsis.
Im post sepsis now 4 months...im still tired and have brain fog. I cant complete the activities i want to do in a day.
I had sepsis I am 85. Still have swelling and neuropathy which is bad hard putting shoes on walking and balance is difficult hair loss
Thank you just getting through Sepsis Thank you. Xxx❤
Laura. Thank you so very much for your educational video. My husband, who is 81 years old had a similar experience. I know this video is 2 years old but today you made me feel that every issue he had was explained. We live in Boston, ma and the mgh hospital was exceptionally processional and caring. He s still going through recovery since this happened only one month ago. Please accept my profound appreciation for you. ❤ Lorie
I nad sepsis...ut was aeful. Wa a v pug in. Hospital in I a cU...feal nitemare!
Ty. This is my last week of introversion? Antibiotics...I do it every morning. Ty for explaining the symptoms. I've had them all. I'm grateful but sick and tired of sepsis...I'm tired of wondering if I'm dying. My number is 126 but needs to be lower. I'll find out this week. You gave me hope with your cheerful attitude.
I have this for 8 months... Any thoughts... I get the fever and chills
What meds do they give you for the mental part? I feel like im going insane
TBF the hospital didn't even tell me I had sepsis, they still haven't told me to this day. After I survived the sepsis they claimed I had chrons and left me on steroids for 6 months, no pain relief for a year and when I finally saw gastro consultant he was confused why anyone thought I ever had chrons. I learnt about my sepsis through a SAR after a friend who is a doctor told me it was sepsis
I was admitted in the hospital with sepsis on February 14 th of this year stayed in the hospital 4days worst experience of my life had never heard of this before that day Im thankful to be alive im also terrified of it returning.
I can relate to your experience. Septic after ruptured bowel and then surgery with colostomy. 12 days in hospital - on antibiotics and recovering from surgery. Discharged and on Day 4 at home I became septic again without knowing what it was at the time.
Spread Awareness of PSS it is real. Has me loosing hope for recovery I'm close to giving up. Receiving treatment but maybe. The next person will.

Wow this is very pertinent information! I just found you. I think my son had sepsis from 2 severe infected abscesses. He was acting crazy and one morning he came in the kitchen screaming he was freezing. He was angry crying sleeping for hours and hours. The dentist did emergency surgery cut both teeth out. He was drinking alcohol to kill the pain prior to the Surgery which made it worse. After the surgery he was on heavy duty antibiotics and steroids and more drugs OxyContin 30 mg. He was going crazy 1 week of this medication. Screaming yelling running out the door . It was awful. They never actually said it was sepsis but I believe it was.
I had Sepsis around two years ago caused by an infected Gallbladder which progressed to Septic Shock. I was in an induced coma for 3 days and almost died. What I recall is very different from what you are describing. I, of course, had a high temperature. I was unable to control any of my body movements. If I tried to get up it was almost impossible and I would actually lose total control of my movements, flying against walls, etc. I had respiratory failure when oxygen was taken off for an xray before a diagnosis was made. However, after surviving I had no other symptoms. It was also very difficult listening to your video as you spoke so slowly.
I had sepsis last year In August and I swear I feel like I’m going crazy. I’m so terrified of getting sepsis again I check my temperature, blood pressure and oxygen frequently. I also have a lot of memory issues I always had memory issues but it seems to be much worse. I feel like my anxiety is awful too. 🥺
I’m 3 and Hal yrs now posst sepsis I’m not the same so weak tired mind goes blank depression aching all over scared to death if getting it again like you I check everything ,
Can you have sepsis for 3 weeks?
I’m 4 months post hospital and I can’t anymore, this is driving me insane and I feel so damn useless all the time
Things will get better. One day at a time.🙏🏼
I was hospitalized in September with sepsis from a rare bacteria. The psychological problems are the.worst! My short term memory is shot. I've lived in this town 60 years and suddenly I'm turning down wrong streets. I'm feeling pretty useless myself. I know I'm getting better, but I never realized it would be so slow. Dr told me today that I might be able to return to work in March!
I know it's 8 months later, but sending love your way ❤️ ❤️
That would be me 😭 I’m a wreck right now and I’m 4 months post hospital release 😢 I was in hospital for 5 weeks and intubated for 3 weeks and tracheostomy for the rest of the time. I can’t handle the temperature regulation or eating food anymore 😢 I have no energy, no will to do anything, numbness and nerve pain in my hands and feet, dry gangrene, I gained 20lbs, I’m so tired but I can’t sleep, my muscles hurt 😢I’m supposed to be working on physical therapy but I can’t even summon the energy to make an appointment for gods sake 😢 the muscle pain is real, dry skin, hair loss, absolutely no libido, no real interest in anything whatsoever, I wonder sometimes if it was even worth fighting that hard to survive just to feel like this for months and months on end 😭
Sepsis has given me PTSD, and I worry I will get it again.
As a disabled RN and multiple time survivor of sepsis, healthcare professionals in the US definitely need more education regarding this very serious condition. I truly wish nursing programs would all be required to watch your channel and have open discussions regarding it’s valuable content!!! In addition, I feel it would be so valuable to have survivors come to nursing schools and discuss their experiences, just like your channel, as putting a face to this condition could really help. Thank you tremendously for putting this very important information out there!!! 🙏🏻💜
I had Sepsis 7 weeks ago and now have a hard time staying focused and remembering what I'm doing. The fatigue was awful and I definitely worry about getting it again.
I'm going through that now. I had it 3 weeks ago.
I was on life support for 12 days... I am 16 weeks post septic shock... I am struggling. I've lost so much hair!!! I had to cut 15 inches off bc of how thin it has become.
My wife is two month post sepsis, on top of four spinal cord lesions. She is hit with sudden muscle weakness, extreme tiredness, bizarre temperature extremes, you name she gets it.
Please have her see a Neurologist regarding Narcolepsy and Cataplexy. I developed both after sepsis, and the cataplexy often is in conjunction with narcolepsy, resulting in extreme tiredness and sudden muscle weakness caused by extremes in mood.
2005 in us I was sent to hospital Had 104F fever, delusional. Blood smear had just come back. Dr said Go Now!! I was so outta of it stopped at store to get magazine. 🤦♀️After being admitted I was in icu for a month. Intubated and in induced coma for 2 weeks! They didn’t think I would make it. God & prayers got me through. I walked out of hospital 11/2 months after still hallucinating from the drugs they gave me. A Long road mentally to recovery. My mindset was so off, I destroyed my marriage. Regret it to this day over 15 yrs later. It’s very hard to come back from…. Im still trying…
Father in law died of this a couple years ago. I just got out hospital with it. Could have died if I wouldn't have listen to small voice telling me to call 911. Now Im trying to study it. Very painful and scary. I was healed in a 4 days which is unusual.
I just got out of hospital with Sepsis on July 7th. It's a very hard thing to go through. So many people don't understand how difficult it was!! I'm so happy you survived!! I'm having issues with swallowing food now, so I have to go to a GI. Prayers for your recovery. Just know others are going through this right now, too. Best wishes for our recovery🙏 And I'm now suffering with the psychological part.🙏
The temperature disregulation is insane. Before this happened was , always , always , always hot. Now I'm cold constantly, even when its hot , so weird !
it can be in the 80s outside and i cant get warm im about 5 months in recovery...but it is slowly getting better
I have been in sepsis twice. The sond time I was much older than the first time. When I came home from the hospital the family thought I should just bounce right back.
That's how it's been for me. Had it twice last year. Once after a c section and a second time after appendicitis. I am trying to find ways to restrengthen my body, mind, spirit.
I had 4 teeth pulled on may 11th . But 2 months before is when the pain started. Now my whole body aches from neck through legs. Severe aching.I do have taste issues since then. I’m also supposed to be seeing a kidney specialist for some other things i think I’m 3A kidney wise. The area where they pulled the teeth is swelled up inside. So I told my husband I need to go to the hospital. He doesn’t think so but I’ll go.I just need to get cleaned up and the energy it takes for that is exhausting so what do you think
Oh yes and the sweating profusely i have also
I survived sepsis but am having another issues now and may need to have a stoma bag nearly a year later thank you for your video ❤
I am 87. I had Urinary infection one year ago turned Sepsis. Excruciating pain everywhere. Spent a week in hospital and 5 weeks in rehab. I live alone. Prior to illness I was strong and healthy except for normal 87 YO Arthritis, wrists knees, hands, neck. I am experiencing weakness, balance issues, tiredness, but I'm still completely independent so far. I try light muscle building exercise with workout machine I've had for years and some PT exercises.. I'm not showing much progress. My PCPs, VA and family Dr. do not show any concerns. Was wondering should I be taking medication of any kind? I am on blood pressure meds, occasional Tylenol for knee pain. only. If you see this, any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!
I have severe severe sepsis
I wish I had known
I'm dying
I wish I had known
I'm a new survivor and my body is sore feels like inflammation where u sore as well under your rib cage I go to my GP in a few days its scarry im consently crying and afraid my lungs and kidney is perfect but thanks for the video please let me know
Thank you! I was “oh, so that explains it”, throughout your video!! ❤️
So glad that you survived sepsis. Retired nurse here. I had a complicated gold bladder surgery. When sent home 6 days later good job my son was here, I couldn’t walk breathing was laboured. He rang an ambulance, they arrived & couldn’t get a BP stats 85. Straight into A& E then theatre 1litre of fluid aspirated. Straight to ICU with pneumonia ,sepsis & kidney failure 40% chance of coming through.I can’t remember ICU, then an heart attack a week later. I was transferred to the best lung specialist for scooping & debriding of the lungs. 4 months in hospital., had to learn to walk again. I have been home 5 weeks & the weakness & tiredness is unbearable . I feel so traumatised, I am so glad to be alive. Nobody knows the feelings unless they have had it, glad I found your page & you are coping now. ❤️
I have had Septic shock twice and sepsis 5 times due to kidney damage. I thought I was going crazy wondering why I was not focusing on living and constantly worrying about getting it again. I thought my menopause was brutal but this explains alot to me.
I don't even know how to start. I can only say that it felt like a rape and a violation to be an ICU. Thank God my family would not let them vent me. They knew it was not my wish. Had I been invented I wouldn't have had such a great recovery and outcome. They tried very very hard to get a ventilator on me. Still doesn't make it any easier considering all of the other things I went through. I was declared severe sepsis. Was out of the hospital a week later only to God's will. But the week I was there was complete and absolute hell, in every sense of the word.
Oh tell me that is horrible. You’ve been through so much. It’s really good that your family know what you want. And reinfection rate is so high after Sepsis because your immune system is so low. Let me know if you need anything
I understand and have had all the same experiences. Right now I'm just trying to understand and make sense of everything that I went through by education.
