This video has been inspired by mental health awareness week I have talked about the psychological effects of sepsis, PTSD, stress, anxiety and depression.
Great video! really informative and i think this is not talked about enough. I had Sepsis at Christmas time and every year I have a really difficult time as soon as Christmas decorations start going up in the shops.
Sepsis is horrendous. Is there anything that you would like me talk about as well? Triggers are vile. I’m waiting at present to see if I have cv19. And anytime I’m sick I get scared. Did you get any other symptoms of pss?
Laura, thanks for this informative video! I've know been our of the hospital for 3wks & expirence most of these. I have reached out to my primary care physical & Im starting an antidepressant. I love the way you coach us to remember that it's, "not the condition it's the person behind the condition!" Thank u Thank u Thank u Blake
Hi Blake i’m so glad it helped and you know that you’re not alone. if you are on Instagram my handle is @laurawilliams.sepsiseducator I want us to be a community. And soon I am starting a podcast that is aimed at survivors. I am interviewing three people this week I’ve already done one so once they are edited I will be doing the hard work. As in getting information from charities and are just finishing off my online course. Since having sepsis myself it’s become my aim in life to help others save lives through sepsis awareness and knowledge.
Fantastic thank you for teaching me something new. I totally see where your coming from on this after loosing a baby and being given cancer drugs to help i had awful flash backs. Although one of my memories from morphine was watching Paddington bear and thinking it was amazing.
Hello, really glad i discovered someone speaking about this subject, I am a septic shock survivor as well. it was 6 years ago i believe, I have recovered mostly....except for mental damage it had caused, My brain is often foggy, i struggle so much too focus on simple task, Simple Mathmatic problems feel so difficult and learning and retaining information is EXTREMELY Difficult, Please guide me into some things that helped you recover cognitively, Is it fully possible too fully recover? too regain the crisp clarity? is it possible we can Reverse the damage that has been done, Regain the focus, And re train our mind too normal functions through cognitive behavvioral therapy as mentioned?
Hi hope you are okay. It can be really tough and there are good days and bad days that being in the sepsis survivor community has really helped me. If you are on Instagram I am on there quite often as @laurawilliams.sepsiseducator
I actually had had a bit of time off due to PTSD and my mental health that’s New Year new me & new content. I tried to do vlogmas But my videos would not upload
@@laurawilliamssepsiseducati5642 Thanks for the response!, I feel its important to not hold onto the past or a be victim of it by constantly reminding myself of it lol, i just simply asked if cognitve therapy could reverse the conditions. wich i learned it can be a great tool for, though mental training and discipline is also required. if it depletes the brain. and our plain is basic plastic (Meaning we can use the science of neurology too re shape and form neaural pathways in the brain) we dont want too keep hitting the same trauma circuits. I suffer from most of these symptoms. I can't go to sleep unless the sun is out. I have the biggest phobia of needles and the whole experience of being in toxic shock was horrible. As my heart was affected by the sepsis, I had to have my surgery under local anesthesia instead of general and remember all the details vivedly . All these factors have left me with really bad post sepsis syndrome as it's only been 6 months snce I left the hospital. In this time, I have lost most of my hair and have had all of my skin shed due to the trauma. I'm so glad people like you are finally talking about it.
Sending my love and positivity. I have a phobia of needles as well. I remember being wheeled to theatre saying OMG I’m a pin cushion. ( yes I was out of if ). Was one of the only things I said that week.
