What are your thoughts on the backlash from Ubisoft about DEI? I’m seeing lots of distain from Japanese people online about how wrong the culture is displayed and how Ubisoft is not accurately displaying Japan in a respectful manner. I can’t really comment on that but I just want to play an Assassins Creed game set in Japan, however I’m interested on what the games reception will be when it’ll come out.

I hope they let us disable that arcade-y glow around the assassins when concealed in the dark. What a terribly immediate way to break the immersion of concealment.

Who cares if there was like the ONE person in 500 years or whatever length it was who was black in Japan. Is it representative of their culture, their society, etc.? That's the main point. Regardless of the nitty gritty history of this particular individual, elevating such a person to main protagonist status is just insulting to the culture it's supposed to be portraying, and it's hard to take seriously as an audience member. If you hadn't told me otherwise, I wouldn't have believed such a person even existed, because it's quite ludicrous. I do think the online outrage over this is also over-bloated and excessive, but then it's the internet, what do you expect? Still, Ubisoft shot themselves in the foot. Why ruin such a great setting and AC game that fans have been waiting for with such a stupid DEI move?

You can tell that the older games DEFINITELY need/needed a graphical update. Unity, though.. Which is what? Close to a decade old? Still holds up well, today.. Visually. Even if it was a buggy mess for most of its lifespan. I’m wondering how much better ACII, Brotherhood and Revelations could/would look with something like ReShade. Those games don’t seem to have aged that well, visually.

There a lot wrong with this game out the gate. Like the pricing that no one is talking about. I don't think Yosuke being black man is a issue. People keep talking about historically accuracy despite the fact that in this series you fight against mystically monsters and gods with magical apples. Are there times when studios just doing stuff for DEI yes, but it be cant be every time you see a black person or woman in a game, that you starting hating the game for just because that . At least wait for the game to come out and then state your opinion on it when you have all the facts.

They literally used japanese traditional music with rap elements to represent Yasuke just because he is black lol the wokeness is evident stop defending it

Also I think it’s super cool that Yusuke is a really cool character to play as and ever since I Learned that he was a real historical figure back during Covid in 2020 I always wanted a game about samurai like ghost of Tsushima to involve him. Not about him but involve him, even if it was a cameo. I would also like to see Oda Nobunaga, and “Toyotomi Hideyoshi” ( The great unifier of Japan, and last but certainly not least the “Date Masamune” (the helper to “Toyotomi Hideyoshi”. I think this new game is super cool and I can’t wait. Let’s do this 🎉
