Rubber Steering Stops for KTM Superduke R, RR, EVO - SUPERSTOP INSTALL
How to install Superstops on KTM Superduke R, RR, EVO - 1290 and 1390. The first adjustable rubber steering stops. Superstops help keep your bars from hitting your tank in a crash, and help you and your bike survive tank slappers that can sometimes break your oem steering stops. Superstops are designed to deaden the bounce that tank-slappers can generate when steel steering stops hit the steel frame. Superstops are stronger than oem, they won't break off in a crash like OEM stops do, so they will protect you and your bike more in the event of a crash.

    This was a good talk. When you got into the part near the end about slowing down more mid-corner so you can turn quick and get out it sounds like you've started doing the V style turn that's quicker than the usual U-turn we all learn to start with. U-turn has lots of time leaned over (the whole bottom of the U) with slow maintenance throttle that you physically cannot go faster with unless you want to ride off of the track. The V-ish style turn lets you go in quicker, slow down more so you can point the bike fast and gun it out of there. And the _really_ good guys gun it out even harder to bounce/fishtail the rear tire so they face the exit even faster like they're on a dirtbike. What a scary skill that must be to learn, I'd be praying not to highside the whole time. I'm nowhere near doing that. Take baby steps and stay safe

    that sprocket section makes complete sense, i used to try to think of other ways to change anti-squat and i really couldnt think of any other way to do it other than moving the three points around in relation to one another. The swingarm pivot, countershaft sprocket and rear sprocket. Id also never heard of the term chain pull but it perfectly describes what's going on, the chain pulling on the rear sprocket and axle wants to bring the swingarm towards the frame but because the swingarm pivot is off center to the force being applied, the swingarm angles itself down towards the ground

    • @superduked33
      @superduked33 Před 25 dny

      Well put. I agree. ...On the topic, some really successful racers that I know and have known, swear that all bikes rise as you accelerate. This is simply not true. Maybe "all bikes" that they have raced do. But not all bikes do. It all depends on your setup. ...Also on this subject, just because your anti-squat number is above 100% (for instance 105%), doesn't mean that 5% will be enough to counteract the force that acceleration will have on your bike's tendency to squat. That's exactly why I find the Superduke's 107% is not enough. At least it's not enough for me.

      All motorcycles, or vehicles with two wheels, which have similar suspension (telescopic forks, swingarm, and belt or chain drive), behave by the same rules of physics and can be affected by adjusting these points. Admittedly this information is well below the surface of the majority of riders or enthusiasts, but it's still there. _"Forget mysterious dark matter and the inexplicable accelerating expansion of the universe; the bicycle [by extension the motorcycle] represents a far more embarrassing hole in the accomplishments of physics."_ -Michael Brooks

      @@exothermal.sprocket Haven't had the chance yet. I was supposed to join a trackday last weekend, but then life happened and I had to cancel. Just the usual weekend mountain runs. I guess I really need more seat time before I do anything else again. When I tuned my suspension few months ago, I kinda unknowingly increased the rear ride height by setting the correct preload. And I really wondered why the bike suddenly felt much better to ride on with that minor tweaks. Now I think I understand what happened, thanks to this video

    • @exothermal.sprocket
      @exothermal.sprocket Před 25 dny

      @@jerodoque Cool beans. Yes, that's pretty much what I would (intentionally) do when a factory bike. They come with pro-squat geometry with the very limited cheap shock. I do believe that is intentional, because manufacturers believe that understeer is safer for most riders coming out of a corner, than oversteer/high-side crashes. They would rather error on the side of understeer/plowing than risk going too far. Just like new cars and trucks being set to understeer when a slide happens. A lot of my research about motorcycle purchases revolves around the availability of suspension and brake parts from the aftermarket because I've lived with factory crap suspension with way too many motorcycles over the years. I've felt quality suspension and I've felt budget suspension. Quality is better. But it's one thing to swap a shock. It's another thing to set it up correctly.

  • @bryansuperduke1290r

    I think the +20mm link is turning out to be the best option, it’s a fraction of the cost of any of the length adjustable shocks and gives you the same result. And if you want to change to a better shock you just need to set it to the standard shock length.

    I thought superbikes tend to lift the rear under acceleration ? As a result of the chain trying to pull the wheel towards the engine.

    • @superduked33
      @superduked33 Před 26 dny

      I think lift / no lift / anti-squat #s are not the same across the board. I think different bikes have different needs. For example at round 1 this year my shock was handed back to me, after being serviced at the track, shorter than I had it. The result of that was less rear ride height / less swingarm angle / less anti-squat. My rear tire spun everywhere. It was super difficult to ride fast. In fact I lost against the same bike that I beat an hour later by half a straight - once I lengthened the shock again. Night vs day difference. So I'm sure you are right, for some bikes. But the SDR holds its motor farther back than most sportbikes, like the S1000RR for example. This could be why it wants so much more anti-squat. Having said that though, I spoke with the chassis guy who sets up some of the fastest 600s in the AFM, he said he aims for anti-squat of "18". So in the end I think it's best to go with what you feel and experience out there. Good quation, thanks for contributing

      @@superduked33 It could also be by design, the superduke is marketed as the ultimate hooligan bike made for wheelies and burnouts. Perhaps the increased amount of trail makes rolling burnouts easier since the front wheel wants to stay in line with the direction of travel easer, and the lack of anti-squat promotes weight shifting to the rear tire so it wheelies even easier under power, the reason the superdukes are known for just wanting to wheelie 24/7 might not just be the engine but also chassis design, thats my hypothesis at least

    Seems like KTM's typically have some small, relatively minor things that have problems: water pumps, cam chain tensioners...too bad.

      Cam chain tensioners are an issue. Solvable though. That video is on the board soon

    Don't know why people say cross planes sound so amazing. They obviously sound like a fart can on a Honda Civic

    Just FYI, the tensioners can be seen very well in this video of a cut open version of an LC8 : czcams.com/video/fIgrI3Pmv7w/video.htmlsi=lDUu7S4CsI64G-hJ

    On my 1290 Gen 1, Special edition, the stock clutch plates were "worn" after only 15k kilometers of street/wheelie use, and I almost never used the clutch lever to pull a wheelie. The plates didn't measure problematic, and I only had the problem in 3rd gear, so the dealer upgraded the clutch springs on my request. When that didn't help either, I bought a new clutch pack from Barnett in the US. Problem gone. :) I'm surprised to see the good state of your clutch. KTM must have learned then I guess :)

    LC8 is also on the KTM 790/890 but it desintegrates on those bikes.

      Lc8c.. not the same engine at all. Different materials are used, the biggest problem with the 7/890 is that the camshaft doesn’t get enough lubrication after awhile. When they reach the 20.000km they are basically ticking time bombs

      @@Snotroggel453 so what you are saying is that KTMs are trash. CfMoto uses the same darn engine and is 1/3 the price of a KTM but 10000% more quality. There are no problems with the CfMoto 700/800 series engines.

      @@showmytime9177thats because cfmoto down tuned the NK800 by 10HP, which is the same engine as the 790.. it creates less stress on the engine. Yamaha could give the MT07 also 100hp if they wanted, but it would make the engine less reliable.

      @@showmytime9177yea 3 years ago i wanted to buy a duke 890, but after reading many forums and CZcams comments i let it go and got myself a Z900. 33.000km so far and never had 1 issue. Sure its a heavier bike and a 4cil, but at the end nothing beats reliability 😂
