I notice at 38:00 the cams moved a little bit when you were putting back the harmonic balancer. Do you just turn it back a little after you’re don’t tightening so it lines back up to TDC?

I have a hybrid/ EV repair shop. I don’t do anymore hybrid battery pack rebuild on 2nd and 3rd generation prius and all others that uses the NIMH batteries and here is why. In 2004 all those NiMH batteries would be extremely old way past their expected life of 8-10 years. Trying to rebuild one of these aging NiMH battery pack means there is a likelihood it will go bad again within 6 months or less and it would be considered lucky if they even last a year. What I do is just do a new aftermarket swap. Maybe not as good as OEM but at least they are new and have a usefull life than all the aging module circulating around. Another option is upgrading to lithium ion taken from newer generation hybrid. I usually use ones from Hyundai Sonata which fit well with existing prius NiMH box. The modules are a little taller so I had to do some slight hardware modifications. Also an upgrade in the software to accommodate the different charging characteristics of lithium ion.

Hey man hope you’re all good, I used to watch and learn a lot from your videos. About to finally take on a turbo build myself and I’ve referred back to a couple of your videos recently.

This is the dumbest thing I've ever seen. Will it shift hard? Yes absolutely because accumulators are designed to soften shifts HOWEVER making your transmission slam gear will do absolutely NOTHING to make it "hold more power". Will it chirp the tires? Maybe if that's what you want but be ready for clunky down shifting and a generally uncomfortable transmission for daily use. Also, making your transmission slam gears will do more to hurt internal parts than help them "hold more power". Also on a side note, pulling the transmission is 1000% unnecessary. All you did was pull the VB and shim the accumulators. WTF would you add several more hrs to a relatively easy 1.5hr maybe 2hr job? I suppose all of this was because I have a customer asking me to do this and somehow guarantee any of his bullshit. 24yrs building transmissions btw

Thanks to Evel Knievel for attempting this feat first, it couldn't have been possible if someone like him who thought of it first. As over time jumping is flying as it's been perfected using the rear brake to bring the front end down so theres more control these days, I commend Travis Pastrana for perfecting this jump as it should be performed with full control an landing
