I would like to use the editor as the spill area and the compact bay as the DCA faders. I would love to run a second editor on the other side for outputs/ sends on faders. So far selecting sends on faders on the editor has no affect on the console. There doesn’t seem to be a way to link the editor to a phantom BAY.

Is this process any different for the Tio1608-D2?

wouldn't recommend this, VERY hard to get support and if you lose your VST rack serial, or a computer dies with the software installed there is simply NO way to retrieve your license.

I have this interface. threw out the packaging not realizing the serial was in there. my computer with the software died. now there is NO way to contact Yamaha or use the VST rack on my new computer. have reached out to steainberg as well. would NOT purchase this or use VST rack because lets be honest shit happens in the live music world and they are impossible to contact and have ZERO customer service.

Yamaha's routing is a little bit more complicated than other desks due to the utilization of Dante protocol - it's a networked protocol rather than a point-to-point one, so Dante channels on mixer don't necessarily correspond to the ones on stagebox. Since the mapping between the physical ports and Dante channels of the stagebox is fixed, the patching process has two steps: Step 1: Mapping Dante channels between the desk and the box - either through the desk's automatic config or via a laptop Step 2: Mapping input sources of processing channels and output destinations of mix buses to the desk's Dante channels. It can be like: "XLR In 6 of Stagebox No.2"->"Dante Output Channel 6 of Stagebox No.2"->"Dante Input Channel 14 of Mixer"->"Input of the Mixer's Processing Channel 38" "Output of the Mixer's Bus No.12"->"Dante Output Channel 18 of Mixer"->"Dante Input Channel 5 of Stagebox No.1"->"XLR Out 5 of Stagebox No.1" Technically you can also wire two stageboxes together and patch the inputs of one to the output of another so that they'll work like a snake cable. It's ridiculous but possible.

That 169.254 address is an APIPA address that Windows randomly picks form a /16 net when DHCP fiails. It's a standrd. And the AVIO is likely defaulting to an APIPA address as well.

Ok, the big question of all times is how to run VST effects prcessed on PC/mac and have it as an insert to a live mixing console. So far, the simplest option was to connect your console via USB to the PC/mac and route it back but this would introduce some latency (7 - 14 ms). Now, Yamaha says its RUIO16 can get the signal over Dante, send it to PC/mac over USB, run the VSTs, get it from the PC/mac and sent it back to a console over the Dante, AND have a decent amount of latency (<5 ms). My question is: If RUIO16 can talk to PC/mac with <5 ms latency, why not have the same technology on the mixing consoles and process the VSTs on the PC/mac all over the USB??? Why even go to Dante?

So if I wanted to keep and use the 16 inputs on the back of the TF-1 and use the remote box to add 17 -32 inputs on the second layer on TF-1. I could not use the easy patch of confige and set the box to box # 2. I would have to get a laptop, network switch and program the 17-32 inputs manually?

If I had the money I would buy it.

I work for years with QL 5. never touched a CL. But the QL was always enough for the shows i do. But with more and more musicians using In Ear the QL can run out of Mixes very fast and i need at least 2 verbs 1 dly and 2 stereo mixbusses means only 8 Mixes left for just MONO In ear if you have 8 Musicians. If 4 musicians you can give em Stereo In ear. But i love th fact that the QL has all the onboard Mic Pre´s and 16 OMNI Outs. I would only use a CL because of 24 Mixes, just in case. Otherwise the QL is my go to desk for years.

Hey I know Yamahas are reliable. I’m thinking of getting an Allen and Heath avantis. How do you think they compare with reliability. I know they are different price points but not too far from each other.

Thanks for this great tutorial series! I am not in front of the units currently and have a question as I am prepping for an event. I need a 5th channel to be available on Freespeak that is programmed in my Helix base. Helix base has two four wire modules and an ehternet module, no 2 wire modules. Do I connect Line 1 of digital intercom on Helix to 2 wire A on Freespeak to resolve this? If so, how do I assign that 5th channel to the digital intercom line 1 within the CCM programming?

Why does the mixer do this? My TF3 is doing the same, the scribble strip lights blue in sequence and the touchscreen wont work. I tried this and it worked but it did it again after 10 minutes or so

I was handed a second hand system and have been tasked to make it work. 1 MS 702 feeding into a RM - 702 then into another MS-702. Feeding pgm audio into first MS702. I have to feed Intercom and a mix minus into an IFB. I have a RTS IFB 1000. The intercom into the IFB works great. I want to send a mix minus from my board to the talent. You stated that you run IFBs thru your board, can you expand on that? Is it possible to do what I want without buying a PIC4744 and PS 702? I also have 3 MA-704 units and Im not sure how to loop them into the system. Thanks for any info!

Hey, you talk about loosing the HA control. I renamed my TF1 in dante controller and tio as well. I noticed when the tio being renamed after power cycle they change the name to put the "Y001-....". The console does not, i just renamed it "TF1". Is this the reason i losed the HA control ? Is the handshake based on device name that user can modify ? I did dante certification, and just learned an advice that naming is important to make everything clear but if it break the feature of HA control it's not that great x)
