Thank you for reacting. This song is for sure incredible. Another one that is good is Shallow. I love what Kirsti put in that one too. She did some theatrical work when she was younger. She can bring it. I often get emotional with PTX. She will get you in Seasons of Love, Amazing Grace, and Prayers for This World too. Did you react to Please Santa Please? If not, she does a bang up job in that Christmas song. Her and Kevin wrote it. Water is another one. Kevin and Kirsti wrote it also. Enjoy!

Shallow - Pentatonix

Pentatonix' ability to convey emotions is one of the things that really sets them apart from other a capella groups. Others perform songs; PTX *lives* them. You should also check out Shallow, with Scott and Kirstin as dual leads, and Amazing Grace, where everyone (and I do mean everyone) gets a solo.

This song was on their first album called Crazy Life. Which was with with Chris Rupp.This one is off the 10 year anniversary album called Crazy (er) Life. I don't know if you noticed that Chance was wearing a Adam Rupp t-shirt. They filmed this in Key West, Florida while on the Country Music Cruise in January. I enjoyed watching your reaction to this song.

I’m not sure if many people notice the harmonic tone in Kirstie’s voice (7:18,7:36). I’m hearing three different notes overlapping, similar to Avi’s overtones, but three tones same note, three octaves. Some might say it’s post, but I’ve heard her do it live at Hollywood Bowl, when they did Shallow, and Prayrrs for this World. I know it wasn’t the cellos or strings, because she was the featured singer in Shallow, and her solo in Prayers was too beautiful to hide.

"BaaaaBYY!!!!".... Note all of the members except Kevin just might have a greater connection with this song than they know....we would have to ask their parents. This was some serious baby making music in the 90s. Having your song sung by Pentatonix is becoming an award...as it should be.

My understanding is that Kirsty, Mitch, and Scott grew up in musical theater. It shows in their videos and stage presence.

Kevin is an amazing musician. Kirstie has a beautiful voice. They wouldn’t be the same without her voice. I’ve been listening to them since 2011 and they just get better and better. Kirstie was on Broadway in Kinky Boots. Scott, Mitch and Kirstie were self described theater kids. They are amazing vocalists.

Kevin named his acoustic cello "Beyoncé." He had planned to call his electric cello "Jay-Z," but his mom likes "Mr. Carter" better. Meet Mr. Carter. Kevin is known for the beauty of his falsetto. When they ask Kirstin and Mitch which of them has the higher voice they look at each other, shrug, and say, "Maybe Kevin?" Pentatonix released this song on their 2023 Christmas album, "Greatest Christmas Hits." They didn't make an official video for this one, so the live Vevo recording is the closest we have. I believe there's also a Yule Log video with the studio recording, and probably one with the lyrics on-screen; other than that, no other videos. You may be thinking of "O Holy Night," which they first recorded in 2012. But when they put together "Greatest Christmas Hits" they re-recorded it, to take advantage of Matt's huge range. The 2023 version is by far the best.

They are so phenomenal at expressing emotions.

They wanted this to look like an old-time family portrait, the kind where everyone had to remain totally still for minutes at a time because the film needed such a long exposure, so they decided to keep movement in the video to the bare minimum necessary for the song. But Scott uses his hands a LOT when he sings; the only way he could manage it was to hold onto the backs of two of the chairs. I would bet that his knuckles were white; it looks like he was holding on very hard.
