As I sit around scratching my ass trying to think about what to do next as a video I came across a list of Baby Boomers favorite movies. As a Baby Boomer myself it caught my interest. This is a shaved down list today, also not my personal choice although I agree with some, if you guys like it I will follow up with some more, as usual. Of course there are some westerns in this eclectic group. My...

In 1955 screenwriter Burt Kennedy wrote the script Seven Men from Now. The resulting film, released in 1956, not well received at the time but now regarded as one of Randolph Scott's best, the one that launched Scott and Boetticher into successful collaborations on five films. This set of films is often called the Ranown Cycle, for the production company run by Scott and Harry Joe Brown. Budd B...

You have a great channel. Always enjoy the topics. Thank you for taking the time and effort to compile and present all these videos. Videos will always vary by time due to the amount of source material but I believe most people do like them 20 minutes or less. Even 30 minutes. Longer videos can always be broken down into 2 or 3. With really long videos (an hour or more) on utube I find myself view them in 2 or 3 sections. Perhaps a video on westerns from other countries other than the USA or Italy. There were many East German westerns made over the years. Spain as well. The UK, Turkey, and Russia even made a few.

Audi Murphy was presented Colt's SAA revolvers during a tour of the factory. On his arrival in Hollywood, he stayed with James Cagney in his pool house. Audie used to take his Colt's behind the Hollywood hills and practice until his fingers bled. He was given a custom rig made by Arvo Ojala. By any standards, Murphy was formidable with a gun.

Wrangler, thank you for your dedication to creating interesting content, nearly every day! I know this is time consuming, but it is obviously a labor of love with you. I like videos 10 minutes or less in length -- I have many projects on my plate and this timeframe seems to fit best in my schedule. While your channel has developed more into a Western movie channel, it began by being much more diverse (yes, I've been with you since the beginning). I'd enjoy seeing departures from the Western theme. Focusing on the films of directors, stars, even authors would be fun for me to see. I also enjoy your '10 best' of anything; forces me to think about the films I've seen over the last 70 years or so (and those produced in the Golden Age of 30s-40s that predate even me) and compare my personal list with yours. Keep up the good work, it's something I look forward to each day!

But it's all bs - it's one thing to pretend to be a gunfighter and another to draw to kill another human being when they are doing the same on you. Exception of Audie Murphy - though he may not of played at quick draw - he knew what it was to kill or be killed.

Hollywood and the Dime Novelists of the late 1800s created the quick draw gunfight. The historical reality? Bad guys tried to ambush good guys, then lawmen and good guys did the same. (think of Bonny and Clyde later). It works much the same today. Does a bad guy call out anyone into the street to draw, in a contest? No. Death is always dirty. EVERYONE tries to get an advantage, be they good or bad. The key to success is situational avoidance and awareness. If that is impossible, deploy your weapon with the greatest accuracy, smoothly, as quickly as you can smoothly.

Definitely the first. The only part I liked in Another Stakeout was Madeleine Stowe at the end. What makes the original work best is it has everything. 1: The neo-Noir atmosphere ( much of the movie was filmed at night). 2: Madeleine Stowe. If there is a actress from the 2nd half of the twentieth century who fits into the Veronica Lake, Ella Raines, Lizbeth Scott category it is her. The sultry voice, the way she looks at people, how classy she is, her beauty ( She is one of my personal favorites). 3: The humor ( especially the alley cat and the bulldog). 4: The suspense. 5: The dialogue. I hated the sequel. Replacing Madeleine with the unappealing Rosie O’Donnell is just one reason why.

Narrowing a list of great movies to 10 favorites is very hard. The Big Country and Shane are indeed two of my longtime favorites, from way back in my Boomer childhood. The family went to see Bridge on the River Kwai, what a film. The Magnificent 7, great story and cast. Enjoyed 7 Days in May (book is better) but it wouldn't make this list for me, despite a fine cast. The Searchers is and remains another top favorite Western for me. Dr. Strangelove, one of the greatest satirical films with a great cast and demonstrate George C. Scott's immense range of talent. Rebel Without a Cause is a fine film but wouldn't be on this list for me, same with Easy Rider. Raiders of the Lost Ark, nonstop fun by a guy who knows how to make a movie.

I can highly admire a film I don't wish to see again (best), but my favorites are ones I can (and have) watch multiple times with pleasure. Here's ten of my top favorites list: 1. It's a Wonderful Life 2. Ben-Hur 3. The Outlaw Josey Wales 4. The Court Jester 5. Dr. Strangelove 6. Star Wars 7. Raiders of the Lost Ark 8. Little Big Man 9. Roman Holiday 10. 12 Angry Men

As a dedicated fan of the western movie genre, I'll have to recuse myself from this, because my top 10 iconic movies would all be westerns. I'll just say my first three would be 'The Man With No Name' trilogy, and after that it's a combination of John Wayne/Clint Eastwood westerns, with a couple others added: 'Open Range', 'Tombstone', 'Fastest Gun Alive'. Great list though, 'Magnificent Seven', 'The Searchers', and 'The Big Country' are spot on.
